Aqua

The moment I enter the cavern, the zeal stops moving before quickly beginning to turn around to face me. Showing some rather sensitive senses.

That or it can just tell when something enters its den somehow.

Either way, the monster seems to turn around rather quickly considering its size, but still not too quickly. So I rush straight at it with my trident and manage to reach it within seconds before stabbing straight into its side with my trident. Making the monster let out a loud squealing whine sound.

Right as I pull out the trident, the zeal swings one of its flippers around to slam into me. Sending me flying all the way to slam into the cavern wall with quite a few new bruises no doubt under my armor. But there’s something about the attack that’s just different from the sunken captain’s attack.

Unlike the sunken captain that had speed and strength behind its attack, the zeal only has its weight and some strength.

Leading to a weaker attack despite its higher level.

After pulling myself out of the wall, I rush back over towards the monster again. Only to dodge out of the way of a pale blue beam that shoots straight past me to hit the wall of the cavern. Freezing it solid before building on more and more ice where it’s hitting to expand the wall of ice into the cavern.

The beam begins to follow me, but I slowly approach it while swimming around in a large circle. With the beam leaving a path along the wall expanding the ice there in a jagged line.

I continue approaching the monster bit by bit until I swing the trident to slash at the zeal’s side. Drawing a jagged bloody line across its blubber and making a pale blue blood fill the water.

The monster squeal whines again before sending its flipper at me just like last time. But unlike last time I dodge out of the way and slash my trident at its flipper. Then I use my partial shift skill to grow tentacles that I use to latch onto the monster’s body, biting into it before pulling me around right when a beam blasts past where I was just at. With the monster’s head turned a seemingly unnatural amount to practically be parallel with its body looking behind it.

After that I continue slashing it with my blade, moving around its enormous body by using the tentacles that keep chomping on it and dragging me around in the process.

Very gradually bleeding the thing out.

Until the thing suddenly changes its tactics and points its head in the opposite direction of me before sending an ice beam out, pushing the thing straight at me as it somehow swims backwards at the same time. Slamming into me thanks to the momentum built by both.

It still doesn’t have as much force as when it used its flippers, but it does hurt a bit and knocks me away.

Unfortunately though, that’s not all it does as it swings its head around after that and hits me directly with its ice beam at last. Partially freezing parts of my armor.

But thanks to that I manage to find a new change thanks to my Bloodline.

I knew I was resistant and used to the cold since orcas live in cold environments, but… this much?

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

Despite my armor and even the clothes underneath it freezing and breaking where the beam blasts my arm and shoulder thanks to my still moving, the ice doesn’t do a single thing to me personally. Not even make my skin paler.

In fact, it kind of feels nice.

Just how freaking cold is the waters of the Deep Abyss anyways?!

Also, seriously? My hoodie and shirt are ruined now…

I quickly repair my armor regardless with mana just due to the exposure issue even if it’s just up to my shoulder. Then I begin summoning tentacles to act as shields against the ice beam.

Which turns out to be a really good idea when the tentacles manage to block the beam of ice without even so much as freezing.

I blink at that before grinning. And without a hint of hesitation, I rush back at the monster before summoning dozens of tentacles all around it that grab onto the creature’s massive body one by one.

The monster tries to break free in numerous ways, but none of them work.

It’s not fast or strong enough to break out of my grip, its beam of ice is completely ignored by the tentacles, and even when it hits a tentacle with its flipper it just dents its scales.

Huh.

I tilt my head while floating a couple meters away from the monster, just staring at it for a few seconds.

Why didn’t I just think of doing this before?

I try to have the tentacles crush the monster, but it’s just too big. And it has too much blubber.

Thanks to that, all I manage to do is hold it stuck in place.

That’s good enough for me though as I follow it up by swimming to the side of its head before cutting off its pincers with my trident. Just to make the monster less dangerous to float near its head. Then I follow it up by just stabbing the trident right into its flailing head. Through the eye to be specific.

An eye that is as large as the three blades of my trident from the end of the first blade to the end of the third blade.

I push the trident deeper and deeper into the monster’s eye before ripping it out as the monster whine squeals so loudly it hurts my ears. But I ignore it to stab its other eye, making it whine squeal even louder.

Then to finish the thing off, I yank out the trident again, summon more tentacles, and stab both tentacles into its destroyed eyes while stabbing my trident into the outside of its throat.

I would attack it through the inside of its mouth like I’ve done to other monsters, but it would probably destroy my trident with its beam of ice if I tried.

Regardless, my combined attacks all finally finish off the giant blubbery seal-whale-bug. After which I go ahead and dump the entire thing and its pincers into my storage ring. Then I move on to searching the cavern for anything interesting while glancing at my System Messages.

[You have killed a level 76 Deepsea Zeal Glerg. EXP has been granted accordingly.]

[You have killed a creature underwater. Apex Predator of the Depths has been activated, increasing your REGEN stat by one.]

[Congratulations! You have now reached level 70! As the current First Ranker of Oceana, your total free points have increased by three, and your mana stat has increased by ten. Allocate the free points whenever you please. Additionally, you have now unlocked your ninth skill.]

[Congratulations! You have now reached level 71! Your total free points have increased by two, and your mana stat has increased by ten. Allocate the free points whenever you please.]

Nice. Two more levels along with a skill.

As for the search front, I actually do find something interesting in it.

Some magic crystals to be specific.

Alright. I’ll be getting another skill in just four levels.

When I reach level 75 and get my next trait.

A faint smile spreads across my face at the thought of getting another trait.

I just hope it’ll be a good one. It’ll be my last trait until level 150 after all.

The skill I’m not quite as worried about though, seeing as I’ll be getting another one in just five levels. A skill that should be pretty good since it’s a skill at a trait level. Which generally tend to be better skills most of the time.

They’re also always Bloodline skills that are important to your Bloodline for Bloodliners.

Like Pressure of the Abyss, which I got at level 25. Which isn’t a skill known to exist for Abyssal Orcas or Krakens.

Meaning it’s got to be an Abyssal Kraken skill.

And if my hypothesis is correct, my level 75 skill should also be a Bloodline skill from the Abyssal Kraken.

Putting that aside for the moment though, I used up a lot of mana to summon all those tentacles today. So I’ll take the rest of the day off.

But first I have two matters to take care of.

Checking out my new level 70 skill, and destroying this cavern to stop any other monsters from nesting here. Just like the request specified on top of killing the monster.

So first up is the skill.
