"Hehe, senior, you’re impressive. We’ll stop interrupting your work and go in to eat." Xia Qianqian complimented him, then waved her hand, ready to end the conversation.

The man with the last name Huo smiled awkwardly when he saw this.

"Okay, then you guys go ahead and eat. You can use my name to get a discount when settling the bill later."

"Mm-hmm, thank you, senior." Xia Qianqian thanked him and then walked past him with Chen Yang, following the waiter inside.

Under the waiter’s guidance, the two of them were seated at a table for two.

After they sat down, the waiter handed the menu to Xia Qianqian to order food.

Xia Qianqian didn’t hold back and ordered her favorite dishes, then asked Chen Yang if he wanted anything in particular.

Chen Yang waved his hand: "Anything is fine for me. I’m not picky about food."

"Oh, okay then."

Xia Qianqian pouted a little, then just randomly chose a few more things before she was done.

The waiter took the menu and walked away.

At this moment, Chen Yang picked up the tea on the table, pouring a cup for both himself and Xia Qianqian.

He took a sip and then nonchalantly asked, "Qianqian, what’s the deal with that senior of yours, Huo? Are you close to him?"

Xia Qianqian seemed a bit surprised when Chen Yang suddenly asked about this.

But she didn’t think too much and answered him anyway.

"He’s alright. He was my senior from the class above me. We had some interactions in school, but we’re not that close. Why are you asking about him, Uncle Yang?" Xia Qianqian answered and then curiously asked Chen Yang.

"Nothing, just asking out of curiosity."

Chen Yang replied with a blank expression.

"Oh, alright then."

Xia Qianqian saw this and didn’t pursue the question further. She picked up her cup of tea and took a couple of sips, mirroring Chen Yang.

Before long, the restaurant began serving their dishes.

As the variety of dishes arrived, Xia Qianqian eagerly started eating.

Chen Yang followed along, and the two ate in silence, without chatting.

When they had eaten enough, Chen Yang stood up and went to the front desk to settle the bill.

"Hello, checkout for table thirty-eight, please," Chen Yang said to the person inside as he approached the counter.

"Alright, sir, I’ll handle that for you right away," the person inside looked up at Chen Yang and then began calculating.

But just then, that man with the last name Huo suddenly appeared from nowhere and told the clerk, "Don’t settle the bill for table thirty-eight; put it on my tab."

The clerk, hearing this, glanced at the man named Huo and then immediately replied respectfully, "Okay, manager," and stopped processing the bill.

Chen Yang saw this and paused, not understanding what Mr. Huo meant.

He was about to ask when he saw Huo with a challenging look on his face, approaching Chen Yang and saying, "You’re Qianqian’s boyfriend, right? What do you do for a living?"

Chen Yang had already sensed this guy’s hostility towards him but didn’t expect him to be so direct.

"Doctor, I also do some small business in the village," Chen Yang replied with a smile.

"Doctor? Village? Hahaha, so you’re just a village doctor, huh?" Huo’s face showed even more mockery.

Chen Yang kept a calm smile on his face; to him, Huo seemed a bit like a clown.

But he wasn’t interested in arguing with him; however he thought about it was his problem.

"Yeah, you could say that. If you’re insisting on paying the bill, then thanks. I’ll take Qianqian and leave now. I’ll treat you next time if I get the chance." Chen Yang didn’t want to waste words with him; since he insisted on paying, Chen Yang had no intention of arguing.

He gave a simple thank you and then turned to leave.

But Manager Huo called him back.

"Wait a minute."

"What? Is there something else?"

Chen Yang paused when he heard him.

Manager Huo walked out from behind the counter, his face full of confidence and disdain.

"I warn you today, Qianqian’s kind of beauty isn’t something a loser like you deserves, got it? If you know what’s good for you, leave her early; otherwise, you’ll be in for trouble!" His tone was full of threat by the end, as if he had some serious means at his disposal.

If someone else had said this, Chen Yang might have been quite upset.

But hearing it from Manager Huo, Chen Yang just wanted to laugh, because in his eyes, he was just a kid.

Being threatened by a kid, Chen Yang found it amusing.

"Haha, I’m not afraid of trouble. If you want to do something, suit yourself. But don’t say I didn’t warn you—don’t end up shooting yourself in the foot." Chen Yang chuckled playfully, then stopped paying attention to him, and just left.

Seeing Chen Yang completely ignore his threat and even act arrogant, Manager Huo’s expression turned vicious.

"Haha, fine, let’s see how capable a country boy like you really is."

In the restaurant, Xia Qianqian happily stood up the moment she saw Chen Yang return from the front desk and naturally held onto Chen Yang’s arm.

"Uncle Yang, I’m done eating. Let’s go."

Xia Qianqian said with a bright smile.

"Alright, let’s go." Chen Yang also smiled and didn’t take the matter with Manager Huo seriously at all.

Just like that, the two left the restaurant arm in arm.

Originally, Chen Yang thought they might run into Manager Huo at the restaurant entrance, but they didn’t. Who knows where he went so quickly.

However, Chen Yang didn’t really care about him, so not seeing him was a bit of a relief, avoiding an eyesore.

After leaving the restaurant, Chen Yang and Yang Ruoxi got into the car, and he drove them back to the village.

Back in the village, Chen Yang really did take Xia Qianqian up the mountain for cattle grazing.

Xia Qianqian didn’t complain; in fact, she found it refreshing.

She even eagerly tried to take the reins from Chen Yang.

"Uncle Yang, let me lead it!"

"Okay, just be careful and don’t mess around." Chen Yang handed the rope to Xia Qianqian.

Then he stood aside, watching Xia Qianqian lead the cow to graze.

Xia Qianqian was lively; though it was her first time herding cattle, she did it quite well.

Her movements didn’t seem stiff at all.

Anyone else inexperienced with cattle might be too scared to move with such a large animal nearby.

But not Xia Qianqian; she ran around the hills with the cow, and Chen Yang couldn’t help but laugh as he watched.

The scene was a bit surreal.

They spent the whole afternoon in the fields until it was nearly dark, and then they returned to the clinic.

Having planned on cooking at home after bringing the cow back, Chen Yang intended for Xia Qianqian to rest and return the next day. However, Caiyun called and said Xia Qianqian had school the next day, so she needed to return home tonight to sleep.

Thus, Chen Yang had no choice but to drive Xia Qianqian back to the county.

They arrived at the River Fish Inn a little past seven, so Chen Yang decided to stay there for dinner and the night.

He thought about having a cozy evening and then sending Xia Qianqian to school the next morning before going back.

So, Chen Yang spent the night at the River Fish Inn.
