Chapter 863: Chapter 859: On TV
Slap!
But just as his hand rose up, his face already took a hard slap.
Chen Yang’s slap was crisp and decisive, delivered without a shred of hesitation.
The scene left almost everyone stunned; as the sound rang out, everyone froze in shock!
Especially Awei, who raised his fist and stood dumbfounded, rooted to the spot.
After two or three seconds of dazed confusion, the fiery sting on his face brought him back to reality.
"You bastard, you’re looking for death! Get him! All of you, beat him down!" Awei roared furiously, his eyes filled with rage and bloodshot red.
Awei’s lackeys snapped out of their daze upon hearing his roar. Without hesitation, they swarmed towards Chen Yang, ready to gang up on him.
But this kind of fight was completely one-sided.
A group of ordinary street punks thinking their numbers could teach Chen Yang a lesson? That’s pure fantasy.
In less than ten seconds, all seven or eight of Awei’s henchmen were effortlessly knocked down by Chen Yang. They lay sprawled on the ground groaning in agony.
The woman, smug one moment, was dumbstruck the very next.
And the enraged Awei turned into a deflated balloon in an instant, losing all his bravado.
His eyes now carried only a look of fear, as if he had seen a ghost!
"If you can’t attract customers, you resort to outright robbery? On the busiest street of this town? You’ve got some nerve—really opened my eyes today," Chen Yang said angrily.
"No... No, sir, we didn’t mean it like that. Please don’t misunderstand. You can leave now, I promise I won’t stop you," the woman immediately stammered, trembling as she responded.
She was the type to bully the weak but fear the strong. Seeing Chen Yang beat up all her store’s enforcers, she panicked and dared not provoke him further.
But while she thought it was over, Chen Yang had no intention of leaving.
After all, Chen Yang was a college-educated man with a sense of social responsibility.
A store like this, a plague on society, how could he just let it be?
Without wasting words on the woman, Chen Yang directly pulled out his phone and called the police.
When the woman saw him calling, she immediately became frantic and ran up to Chen Yang to plead.
"Mister, it’s really hard for me to keep this little store running. Just let me go this once, okay? I’ll compensate you—please don’t call the police!" She grabbed Chen Yang’s arm and begged.
But Chen Yang didn’t pay her any attention, continuing to make the call and explaining the situation over the phone.
Realizing Chen Yang was serious about calling the police, the woman exchanged a glance with Awei and immediately tried to make a run for it.
But Chen Yang grabbed them both—one in each hand—and dragged them back effortlessly.
"Trying to run? What’re you thinking? Stay put and wait for this to be resolved."
Unable to escape and dragged back, the woman was filled with regret.
Why couldn’t she have left someone like him alone? Of all people to provoke, why did she have to pick someone like this?
If she had known it would end up like this, there’s no way she would’ve dared to cross him!
The woman’s emotional defenses crumbled, and she sat on the floor of the shop crying uncontrollably. As for Awei, although he didn’t cry, he was shivering all over and couldn’t even stand properly.
At last, after waiting in the store for about ten minutes, the police arrived.
They conducted a quick investigation and began conducting a large-scale sweep of the premises.
Unaware of what was happening at the storefront, the individuals inside continued their shady activities. When the police knocked, they still had many things in progress!
Chen Yang glanced around casually and didn’t stay for long.
Someone was handling it anyway. As for any verbal commendations or awards, he didn’t care about those.
It was just an incidental matter while getting his hair cut—not something worth any special praise.
At least, that’s how Chen Yang felt.
After leaving the shop, he walked a bit further and found a proper barber shop, where he finally got his hair trimmed.
Once his haircut was done, Chen Yang walked back to the hotel on foot.
As he entered the room, he saw Wang Qingyue lying on the bed, watching TV.
Her chest pressed against a pillow, her legs swinging lazily behind her—a rather attractive sight.
"You’re back?"
Wang Qingyue glanced toward the door upon hearing movement.
"Yep."
Chen Yang chuckled and responded, heading casually to the bathroom to wash his face.
Just as he finished, he heard Wang Qingyue calling out from outside.
"Chen Yang, come quick! Look at this news—it’s hilarious. A guy got extorted but ended up taking out seven or eight thugs, and even helped destroy a criminal hideout!"
Chen Yang usually didn’t care much for the news.
But hearing how Wang Qingyue described it, he immediately ran out to take a look.
As he stared at the TV, he froze for a moment.
Wasn’t this the hideout he just took down earlier?
Upon realizing this, Chen Yang couldn’t help but chuckle before moving on to sit on the couch and play with his phone to relax.
Meanwhile, Wang Qingyue stayed sprawled on the sofa, engrossed in the news broadcast.
As she watched, she muttered comments to herself, but Chen Yang didn’t pay attention, so he didn’t catch what she was saying.
Time passed, and it wasn’t until after five in the afternoon that Wang Qingyue finally turned off the TV and climbed down from the bed.
"Hey, Chen Yang, when did you get your hair cut? Did you head out earlier just to get a haircut?" Only now did Wang Qingyue realize Chen Yang’s hair was shorter.
"Yep, since I have a business meeting tomorrow, I figured trimming it would make me look a bit sharper." Chen Yang answered with a smile and nodded.
"Oh."
Wang Qingyue acknowledged casually and didn’t think much of it as she began putting on her shoes.
After she finished, she squinted at Chen Yang suspiciously. "Wait—you went out to get your haircut? That unnamed hero who got extorted but beat up seven or eight thugs—and helped destroy a hideout—wouldn’t that be you?"
Given the rarity of people capable of single-handedly taking down a group, and the timing of the news report aligning perfectly with Chen Yang’s outing, Wang Qingyue connecting the dots was not a stretch.
Hearing her question, Chen Yang didn’t bother denying it. He smiled, stood up, and nodded. "Yep, it’s me."
Wang Qingyue’s eyes lit up when she saw him confirm it.
"Wow, it’s really you? What a coincidence!"
Chen Yang found himself slightly startled by Wang Qingyue’s enthusiastic reaction.
From his impression, she usually wasn’t this lively or talkative. What changed her today?
Was it the sparring practice at home that brought them closer?
"Yeah, it really is a coincidence. I just wanted to get a haircut—I didn’t expect to walk into something like that." Chen Yang said with a note of helpless amusement.
Seeing his expression, Wang Qingyue couldn’t help but giggle.
"True, something like this doesn’t just happen every day."
Once her mood settled, she added, "It’s getting late. Let’s head out for dinner, and afterward, we can take a walk and explore what nightlife this place has to offer. See how lively it gets."
"Sure, let’s go."
Chen Yang wasn’t one to stay cooped up in the room, so he nodded readily, and they both left to head to the hotel restaurant for dinner.
During the meal, Wang Qingyue asked many questions about the haircut incident.
Though it was a relatively straightforward sequence of events, perhaps the fact that it made the news gave it an interesting edge for Wang Qingyue, prompting her to inquire more.
Not wanting to dampen the mood, Chen Yang happily kept the conversation going with her, sharing more about the day.
