Chapter 848: Chapter 844: The Cattle Dealer

Chen Yang went straight to bed, and early the next morning, Niu Ming was already at his door.

Niu Ming came very early; Chen Yang hadn’t even started making breakfast.

"Niu Ming, why’d you come so early? I haven’t eaten breakfast yet, and the house isn’t cleaned up," Chen Yang said with a smile.

Niu Ming chuckled. "I thought I shouldn’t keep you waiting, so I came a bit earlier. You haven’t eaten yet? I’ll cook for you, Yang Zi. You go take care of your things; the sooner we finish, the sooner we can head out."

"Haha, that works. Everything’s in the kitchen; just throw together a bowl of noodles."

Since Niu Ming was offering to help, Chen Yang didn’t turn him down—it’d speed things up for sure.

"Alright, you go handle your stuff. I’ll make the noodles."

Grinning, Niu Ming went off to the kitchen to handle breakfast, while Chen Yang headed to the backyard to fertilize and water the herb field.

While watering and fertilizing, Chen Yang clearly noticed that the growth in the herb field at the back wasn’t quite as good as the one in the front where the treasured ginseng was.

The herb field with the treasured ginseng seemed to thrive as though it had some sort of potent fertilizer accelerating its growth—all the herbs were vibrant green and looked absolutely thriving.

Meanwhile, the herb field without the treasured ginseng appeared listless. Thankfully, the herbs were still alive and hadn’t died.

"So, it really is because of the treasured ginseng. I’ll find some time to transplant these drooping herbs over there." Having pinpointed the cause, Chen Yang decided not to waste the herbs.

After all, those herbs at the back were valuable as well; selling them would fetch a good price.

And keeping them for himself wasn’t a bad idea either—it’d save money on buying extra.

Once he finished watering the herb field, Chen Yang then went on to give the Elixirs to both Wangcai and Brother Diao.

Nowadays, every morning had turned into an unspoken routine. As long as they heard Chen Yang approaching, the two animals would rush out energetically to find him.

Chen Yang didn’t even need to call them anymore.

"I’m heading out today, so you two better keep watch over the house and don’t cause any trouble." Chen Yang spoke while tossing out two Elixirs.

The two creatures caught them as quick as lightning and swallowed them down.

After gulping them down, each emitted a sound as if responding to Chen Yang, then swiftly scampered back to their nests.

By this time, Niu Ming had finished cooking the noodles. So, Chen Yang didn’t linger in the backyard, heading inside to eat and then driving off with Niu Ming to get going.

"Yang Zi, I’ve found out where the calves are sold: at the county’s produce market. I hear the prices are decent, so let’s check it out first," Niu Ming said once in the car.

Chen Yang nodded. "Alright, let’s check it out first. If the prices don’t work, we’ll look elsewhere."

Saying this, Chen Yang started the car and drove toward the county.

On the way, Chen Yang made a call to Yang Caiyun.

He didn’t talk about much—just asked Yang Caiyun for a favor to go near Lin Hui’s restaurant and help find a place to rent for a storefront in case he opened a restaurant in the future.

Yang Caiyun knew Chen Yang wouldn’t make reckless decisions, so she didn’t ask any questions and agreed immediately to check the situation.

"Uh-huh, thanks, Caiyun Jie."

After thanking her, Chen Yang hung up and kept driving.

What Chen Yang said to Yang Caiyun just now was overheard by Niu Ming sitting next to him.

Hearing that Chen Yang was already planning a storefront, Niu Ming was quite surprised.

"Yang Zi, isn’t it too early to be sorting out a storefront now? Even if we buy calves today, it’ll still take at least half a year for them to grow big," Niu Ming remarked, baffled.

Chen Yang smiled faintly. "I’ve got a plan; don’t worry about it."

Chen Yang had a clear plan in mind—he just wasn’t ready to share it with Niu Ming.

Seeing Chen Yang’s response, Niu Ming didn’t press further.

Anyway, he repeated one thing in his head: following Chen Yang was bound to lead to success and wealth.

And so, the two arrived at the county produce market.

Niu Ming made a call to locate the cattle trader.

When the trader heard Chen Yang and Niu Ming planned to buy a dozen or twenty calves at once, his face lit up with joy.

It wasn’t common to sell so many at once—this was a significant deal.

"Alright, alright! Since you’re buying so many, I won’t bother selling meat today. Let me pack up and take you to the cattle shelter now," the trader said with hearty laughter, eagerly putting away his beef stall to lead Chen Yang and Niu Ming to the farm.

However, since Chen Yang had driven his own vehicle, they couldn’t ride together.

"Boss, you lead the way in front; I’ll drive behind and follow you," Chen Yang said.

"Sure, let’s go!"

The trader happily agreed, then left the produce market, driving his old minivan up front while Chen Yang and Niu Ming followed behind.

After driving for about twenty minutes, they left the county’s urban area.

At first, Chen Yang thought the cattle farm would be like other facilities, situated in the county outskirts.

But to his surprise, they passed even farther beyond the outskirts—this cattle farm was nestled in a small mountain village.

When the trader’s car stopped ahead, Chen Yang parked at the roadside as well, getting out with Niu Ming.

"Haha, you two young lads, my family raises a lot of cattle, so the location’s a bit remote. Don’t mind it," the trader said with a polite smile.

"No problem."

Chen Yang didn’t care and waved it off, moving straight to the point as he pointed toward the cluster of blue metal buildings over the field. "Those over there must be the cow sheds, right?"

On the way here, Chen Yang had been observing the surroundings—and those large blue metal barns were the only thing that fit the description.

"Yes, yes, that’s right. Those are the cow sheds; that’s where they’re kept at night," the trader said, following Chen Yang’s pointed direction for a quick glance and nodding.

"Alright, let’s go have a look. If it’s a good fit, you can load them up and deliver them today," Chen Yang said, getting right to the point.

"No problem, as long as they meet your expectations, I guarantee delivery today!" The trader, eager for the deal, responded enthusiastically to Chen Yang’s straightforwardness.

With that said, he quickly led the way for Chen Yang and Niu Ming toward the blue barns in the field.

From far away, the barns didn’t seem that big.

But as they got closer, they realized the barns were enormous—Chen Yang estimated they could hold at least a hundred cows!

"Boss, you’re running quite a sizable business here. You probably have over a hundred cows, right?"

Looking at the blue barns, Chen Yang teased casually.

The trader smirked with a touch of pride.

"It’s alright, barely counts as a big operation. There’s definitely over a hundred cows; if it weren’t for running out of space, I wouldn’t even consider selling them," the trader said with a grin.

Chen Yang nodded, agreeing with the trader’s reasoning.

In the cattle business, it’s rare to see young calves for sale—especially for someone to sell twenty at once, which is nearly unheard of.

Usually, people raise them themselves instead of selling them off.

It’s only when space becomes an issue that selling comes up as an option.

After nodding in acknowledgment, Chen Yang didn’t say much more and continued following the trader to the blue barns.
