Chapter 841 - 837: Who is Wang Cai?

Chapter 841: Chapter 837: Who is Wang Cai?

Chen Yang paused for a moment, then realized that Yang Ruoxi and Li Han weren’t aware of Wang Cai’s existence yet. So he stood up, looked toward the cowshed, and called out, "Wang Cai."

He planned to introduce that guy to Yang Ruoxi and Li Han, so they wouldn’t be startled by Wang Cai later if they bumped into him unexpectedly.

"Woof woof!"

As soon as Chen Yang called, Wang Cai in the doghouse instantly responded with two barks, then sprinted out with a swish.

Wang Cai moved at lightning speed, charging out like a flash of black shadow.

Yang Ruoxi was standing outside the fence when she suddenly saw a black shadow rushing toward her. Instinctively, she was startled.

"Ah!"

She let out a scream and immediately jumped back, no longer staying outside the fence.

Meanwhile, Wang Cai, who had burst out of the doghouse, stopped and sat neatly right where Yang Ruoxi had been standing. He stared at Chen Yang inside the fence, tongue hanging out.

The little guy looked so obedient and cute.

"Here, this is Wang Cai, a wolfdog," Chen Yang glanced at Wang Cai and promptly introduced him to Yang Ruoxi.

Though Yang Ruoxi had just been startled, she calmed down quickly upon seeing Wang Cai.

"A wolfdog, huh? Are you sure it can guard the yard?" Yang Ruoxi patted her chest, still catching her breath.

"Uh..."

Chen Yang hesitated upon hearing the question because he knew Wang Cai’s personality well. Unlike Brother Diao’s fierce demeanor, Wang Cai tended to act tough around others while being soft himself.

If a thief really broke into the house, Chen Yang wasn’t entirely sure Wang Cai could be reliable.

But then again, it’d be embarrassing for Wang Cai on his first introduction to lose face, right? So Chen Yang nodded decisively, "Wang Cai’s pretty good. He may not be as fierce as Brother Diao, but he’s definitely capable of keeping watch and guarding the place!"

"Oh, alright then."

Yang Ruoxi was just casually asking. Now that Chen Yang nodded affirmatively, she didn’t pursue the topic further.

However, her gaze remained glued to Wang Cai, showing unmistakable interest in him.

"Chen Yang, is Wang Cai... fierce? I think he looks pretty intimidating," Yang Ruoxi said after watching Wang Cai for a few seconds.

Chen Yang chuckled, "This guy’s like Brother Diao. He’s fierce with enemies but great with his own people. If you want to pet him, go ahead. He won’t bite."

Chen Yang could tell Yang Ruoxi wanted to pet the dog, so he encouraged her.

And he was right. Once Yang Ruoxi heard Wang Cai wouldn’t bite, she immediately stepped forward, observing him carefully as he continued panting with no unusual movement. Feeling slightly reassured, she moved closer.

She boldly walked up to Wang Cai and started petting him.

"Wow, his fur feels amazing!"

As soon as Yang Ruoxi touched him, she exclaimed in surprise.

After marveling at his fur, she quickly turned back and shouted to Li Han to come try petting him too.

"Sis, come over here and feel this! His coat is so soft—it’s even better than petting a cat!"

Li Han had been watching the scene unfold. She also found Wang Cai intriguing and likable.

Judging from appearance alone, Wang Cai was undeniably cool.

After all, he’s a wolfdog. Naturally, he carries that fierce and commanding aura, coupled with the striking color of his fur, which really tempts people to reach out and stroke him.

Responding to the call, Li Han stepped forward and began petting Wang Cai alongside Yang Ruoxi.

Wang Cai seemed to enjoy the attention, showing no resistance whatsoever.

Seeing this, Chen Yang didn’t bother watching them anymore; he lowered his head and continued loosening the soil.

Just as he finished, Brother Diao flew back from outside.

Seeing Brother Diao, Chen Yang immediately called him over and asked him to go catch some rabbits.

Brother Diao perched on top of the cowshed, surveying the yard with an aloof gaze before taking off again.

"Wow, Brother Diao is so cool—the demeanor of a true expert," Yang Ruoxi exclaimed upon witnessing his reaction.

Chen Yang felt both amused and helpless but didn’t say much. Yang Ruoxi’s description was accurate; Brother Diao did carry an air of haughty indifference.

"Brother Diao’s off hunting rabbits. Do you guys want wild mushrooms? If you do, I’ll go pick some now since it’s about time to start preparing," Chen Yang said as he walked out of the herb garden.

"Yes, of course! Wild mushrooms are a must for hot pot!" Yang Ruoxi immediately chimed in.

Li Han nodded lightly with a smile to show her agreement.

"Alright, then you two can stay home and wash the vegetables. I’ll go pick some right now," Chen Yang said.

"Okay, hurry up! Sis and I will handle the veggies here!"

Yang Ruoxi waved him off cheerfully, urging him to go quickly.

Chen Yang gave a faint smile, walked into the house to put down his hoe, and grabbed a basket before heading out to the temperature-controlled greenhouse.

The greenhouse was a short walk from Chen Yang’s home, taking roughly three minutes to reach.

Once he arrived at the greenhouse door, Chen Yang pulled out his key and unlocked it.

He stepped inside to pick mushrooms.

The wild mushrooms in the temperature-controlled greenhouse grew remarkably well due to regulated temperature and consistent watering.

The lush white clusters looked incredibly appealing.

"I haven’t checked in with Wang Hong and his sister for several days. I wonder what they’ve been up to. I should find time to ask about the mushroom sales. If they’re doing well, maybe I could expand the greenhouse," Chen Yang mused as he picked mushrooms, thoughts turning to the business side of things.

Recently, Wang Hong had been transferring money to Chen Yang daily, and the amounts were consistently substantial.

This gave Chen Yang confidence that these improved wild mushrooms were selling like hotcakes.

With strong sales, it was only natural for him to think about scaling up. After all, the wild mushroom market was vast; it was just a matter of continuous development.

Given the mushrooms flourished so well, picking them was a breeze. Within moments of casual harvesting near the entrance, Chen Yang’s basket was filled.

He snapped out of his daydreams, closed up the greenhouse, and headed back home.

On the way back, passing by Niu Ming’s convenience store, he stopped in to buy some alcohol and beverages.

Hot pot wouldn’t be complete without those essentials.

"Niu Ming, I’ve transferred the money to you. I’m heading off now," Chen Yang said, getting ready to leave after paying.

But Niu Ming grabbed him by the arm.

"Hey, hey, hey, Yang Zi, don’t rush off yet! I’ve got something to discuss with you," Niu Ming said, lowering his voice intentionally and acting mysteriously.

Chen Yang turned back to meet his gaze and asked, "What’s up? Why so secretive?"

"Heh heh."

Niu Ming chuckled, then pulled Chen Yang to sit inside his store before speaking.

"Yang Zi, it’s about the wild yak thing we talked about last time. You said you’d keep an eye out for me, right? So, what do you think? Does it seem promising now?" Niu Ming questioned with a grin.

Chen Yang paused upon hearing this.

He’d been too busy lately to pay attention to it.

Besides, while the business idea was feasible, the profit margins were too slim to really spark his interest.
