Chapter 831: Chapter 827 Little Fairy
This record took about more than an hour to complete.
When Chen Yang and Caiyun came out, it was already late. So, Chen Yang drove with Caiyun to pick up Xia Qianqian from school.
When Xia Qianqian got in the car and saw that both Chen Yang and Caiyun had come to pick her up, her face lit up with surprise.
"Wow, Mom, how come you had time to come pick me up with Uncle Chen Yang today?" Xia Qianqian asked cheerfully.
"Something came up today, so I just came along," Caiyun replied.
Hearing this, Xia Qianqian immediately pouted her lips.
"Hmph, I knew you weren’t here just to pick me up."
Xia Qianqian had a bit of a temper. Seeing this, Chen Yang immediately laughed and said, "Qianqian, don’t mind your mom. She just doesn’t want to admit it—she really came just to pick you up."
"Ah? Really?"
Hearing Chen Yang’s words, Xia Qianqian’s face instantly brightened with happiness again.
Caiyun just shook her head with a smile and didn’t say anything further. She knew Chen Yang was trying to help deepen the bond between her and her daughter.
"By the way, Uncle Chen, you haven’t come to our house for ages. Why are you here today? Is something up?" Xia Qianqian was full of questions as soon as she got in the car, her energy lively and infectious.
But that was a good thing—the atmosphere felt relaxed and light, making everything comfortable.
Chen Yang, driving in the front, laughed and replied, "Not much, really. I just wanted to visit you and your mom."
"Oh, okay then."
Xia Qianqian nodded without pressing further and turned to Caiyun instead, asking about what they were having for dinner tonight.
The events of the day had been pleasant, so Caiyun was in an especially good mood.
Hearing Qianqian’s question, Caiyun immediately suggested having a feast tonight and eating something special for dinner.
Chen Yang, hearing this, laughed and asked, "So, I guess we’re not heading straight home. Should we make a stop at the market first?"
"Hmm... okay, then let’s go to the market and grab some proper ingredients. I’ll cook something good for you both," Caiyun said after giving it a thought.
"Yay! A big feast tonight!"
Hearing about the feast, Xia Qianqian got so excited she practically started bouncing in her seat, waving her hands in delight.
Chen Yang caught sight of this in the rearview mirror and couldn’t help but smile. He then turned the car around and headed to the nearby market.
At the market, they bought plenty of "big-ticket" items like crayfish and crabs.
They didn’t buy much else since the kitchen at home was already stocked.
And with just the three of them, they wouldn’t need too much food, so they only picked up items Xia Qianqian especially liked, skipping ordinary stuff.
"Alright, let’s head back and start cooking," Caiyun suggested once they were done shopping.
Chen Yang carried the crayfish and crabs back to the car.
Then, with Caiyun and Xia Qianqian, they returned to the Riverfish Restaurant.
When they arrived, the Riverfish Restaurant was as lively as ever, bustling with customers. Business was thriving.
Normally, Caiyun would be there managing everything.
But they’d already agreed on the drive back—no discussions or work today.
So, Caiyun had no choice but to head upstairs with Chen Yang and Xia Qianqian, where they’d cook their own little meal in peace.
Once on the third floor, the three of them, like a real family, divided the tasks to prepare dinner together.
Caiyun handled the actual cooking, Chen Yang took care of cleaning and prep work, while Xia Qianqian helped out here and there, doing odd jobs.
The three of them busied themselves in the kitchen, working in harmony, resembling a true family.
And because they were all working together, no one felt tired. By the time the delicious meal was finally ready—a process that took nearly two hours—there was only satisfaction, no exhaustion.
"Wow, Mom, your cooking is amazing! It smells so good, I can’t wait to dig in," Xia Qianqian exclaimed, taking a deep breath and praising her mother enthusiastically.
Caiyun playfully tapped Qianqian’s forehead. "Flatterer. You’re just saying what sounds nice."
Xia Qianqian laughed gleefully. "Who’s flattering! It really does smell amazing. Just ask Uncle Chen Yang if you don’t believe me."
"Yeah, it does smell great. You’re a talented cook, Caiyun," Chen Yang quickly added his own compliment.
"Alright, alright, I hear you. I’ll go grab bowls and chopsticks for you two." Caiyun laughed as she stood up and headed back to the kitchen. Meanwhile, the ever-hungry Xia Qianqian couldn’t resist sneaking a fingerful of food while her mother’s back was turned.
Afterwards, she grinned mischievously at Chen Yang, winking playfully. Her behavior was childish yet undeniably endearing.
Paired with her somewhat mature-looking face, she truly had an enchanting charm that caught Chen Yang off guard for a moment.
"You little foodie," Chen Yang said with a smile, shaking his head.
"Hehe," Qianqian giggled and made a cute face.
Soon after, Caiyun returned from the kitchen carrying bowls and chopsticks.
"Here you go—bowls and chopsticks for everyone. Let’s eat!"
"Thanks, Mom!"
Seeing her mom had brought the utensils, Xia Qianqian eagerly grabbed hers and dug in.
"Slow down, no one’s going to steal your food," Caiyun said, amused by her daughter’s speed.
"Haha, don’t scold her, Caiyun. It’s already past nine—it’s normal to be starving," Chen Yang said with a laugh, coming to Qianqian’s defense.
"Hmph, exactly! Mom, aren’t you paying attention to the time? I’m starving here," Qianqian chimed in quickly.
"Alright, alright, stop talking and eat," Caiyun said, rolling her eyes before focusing on her meal.
After dinner, Xia Qianqian went straight to her room to finish her homework, while Chen Yang and Caiyun stayed in the living room to watch TV.
They stayed there until Qianqian turned off her lights to sleep. Only then did the two of them retire to their rooms together...
The next day.
Around seven in the morning, as Chen Yang, Caiyun, and Xia Qianqian were having breakfast, police officers arrived at the restaurant.
They weren’t there for anything serious—just to notify Caiyun that the issues from yesterday had been resolved.
The gang leader and Xiao Tuzi had been detained for reformation, while the other hooligans had also received their respective punishments.
Upon hearing this, a smile spread across Caiyun’s face.
"Thank you so much, Officer."
"No need to thank us; it’s our duty. If you encounter something like this in the future, feel free to call us anytime," the officer replied with a friendly nod.
"Yes, thank you again," Caiyun expressed her gratitude once more before seeing the officer out. Only after they walked away did she head back inside.
Xia Qianqian, having watched the whole exchange, immediately grew curious.
"Mom, what happened yesterday? Isn’t Xiao Tuzi one of our suppliers? How did he end up arrested?" she asked, puzzled.
"This isn’t something kids need to worry about. Finish your breakfast so Uncle Chen Yang can drop you off at school," Caiyun replied, unwilling to share the details and risk worrying her daughter.
Seeing her mom deflect, Xia Qianqian pouted but didn’t press further, though her face showed her unhappiness.
After finishing breakfast, she got into Chen Yang’s car for the ride to school.
After dropping Xia Qianqian off, Chen Yang didn’t go back to the Riverfish Restaurant but instead drove straight back to Liuhe Village.
