Chapter 814: Chapter 810 Classmates
The two talked about various recent events, such as building a school and his collaboration with the Wang Family.
Yang Ruoxi also shared updates about her shop’s current situation and discussed her plans.
"Chen Yang, my shop is doing so well right now. I’m thinking of opening a branch. Do you think it’s feasible?" Yang Ruoxi said.
"A branch?"
Chen Yang was a bit surprised. After all, Yang Ruoxi’s main shop had only been open for less than a month, and now she was talking about opening a branch. That seemed a bit rushed.
"Yes, a branch. It’s the shop next door to mine. Because my shop is always packed, and we often can’t accommodate everyone, I thought I could make use of the space next door. It’d make things a lot easier." Yang Ruoxi explained.
Only then did Chen Yang understand. It turns out she meant the shop next door, not opening one in a completely different location.
"Uh... if it’s just the shop next door, that’s entirely doable. But I don’t think it’s necessary to set up an entirely separate operation. You can simply connect the two premises and do a bit of renovation. That should be enough," Chen Yang offered his opinion after thinking about it.
There was no need for a branch shop; connecting the neighboring shop with her current one would achieve the effect of expanding the space.
Yang Ruoxi thought about it carefully and then nodded.
"You’re right. I didn’t even think of that. Why open a branch when I can just connect the spaces? My brain, I swear." Yang Ruoxi pouted and lightly tapped her forehead.
Chen Yang laughed heartily and didn’t say anything more.
Just then, their food started arriving at the table.
Almost all the dishes were beef-based, like stir-fried beef, sizzling beef on an iron plate, steak, and so on.
"Let’s eat first. After we finish, we can think about your shop expansion plan again. There’s no rush—it’s still early. Your shop has only been open for less than a month. Let’s wait a bit longer to see how things progress," Chen Yang said.
"Mm."
Yang Ruoxi nodded firmly and then started eating with Chen Yang.
Once they had sampled all the dishes, both of them were very impressed with the restaurant’s flavors.
"Hmm, it’s really good. The quality of the beef is excellent—it feels different from regular beef," Chen Yang said, clearly pleased.
As for Yang Ruoxi, there was no need to explain. She was a foodie and had absolutely no experience with cooking.
So her taste buds were even easier to win over!
"Haha, looks like we made the right choice to come here. Next time, we have to bring Kexin and my sister along—they must try this; it’s just too delicious!" said Yang Ruoxi happily.
Chen Yang smiled faintly, said nothing more, and silently picked up two bottles of good wine nearby. He opened them and filled both his glass and Yang Ruoxi’s.
"Let’s have a drink. This wine seems pretty good," Chen Yang suggested.
"Mmhmm, sure."
Since Yang Ruoxi was with Chen Yang, she naturally felt completely at ease and had no reservations. She trusted him implicitly.
Without hesitation, she nodded, picked up her glass, and started drinking with Chen Yang.
The two shared drinks back and forth, and after about an hour, they had finished one bottle of white liquor.
At this point, both had drunk quite a bit, and all the dishes had been cleaned off as well.
They decided to take a rest and then leave.
"Ruoxi, wait for me. I’m just going to the restroom; I’ll be back soon," Chen Yang said as he stood up.
"Alright."
By now, Yang Ruoxi’s face was quite red, and her senses were slightly muddled, though she wasn’t completely drunk.
"Mm-hmm."
Chen Yang nodded and headed straight to the restroom.
While he was away, a man in a suit holding a briefcase—a polished professional—happened to walk past Yang Ruoxi.
He paused for two seconds upon seeing Yang Ruoxi and then walked directly over to her.
...
Meanwhile, Chen Yang quickly returned from the restroom.
When he came back, he saw Yang Ruoxi engaged in an animated conversation with a man dressed like a businessman.
Seeing this, Chen Yang naturally understood that she had run into someone familiar. He didn’t think much of it and walked over to ask Yang Ruoxi.
"Ruoxi, who’s this?"
Just as Yang Ruoxi was chatting away, she quickly turned to introduce him when she saw Chen Yang approaching: "Chen Yang, this is one of my classmates. His name is Lin Hui, and he’s the owner of this restaurant. We just ran into each other and started chatting for a bit."
"Oh, so it’s Ruoxi’s classmate! A pleasure to meet you!"
After hearing the introduction, Chen Yang immediately extended his hand to greet Lin Hui.
After all, he was a friend of Yang Ruoxi, and basic courtesy was a given.
Lin Hui’s face had been full of smiles, but upon seeing Chen Yang, his expression seemed to stiffen somewhat.
"Haha, hello."
Still, he quickly recovered, offering a polite smile while shaking hands with Chen Yang.
"Lin Hui, this is my boyfriend, Chen Yang!"
Seeing the two shaking hands, Yang Ruoxi quickly chimed in, introducing Chen Yang’s identity.
Lin Hui’s expression was already somewhat unnatural, and upon hearing "boyfriend," his reaction intensified.
"What? He’s your boyfriend?"
Lin Hui said, seemingly in disbelief.
"Yes, he’s my boyfriend."
Unaware of any underlying issues, Yang Ruoxi continued to smile brightly and firmly confirmed her statement.
Lin Hui, hearing Yang Ruoxi’s confirmation, looked even more incredulous, though since it was their first meeting, he restrained his emotions from showing too obviously.
"Haha, I didn’t expect it. You already have a boyfriend so soon."
Lin Hui forced a laugh and then took the initiative to ask about Chen Yang’s occupation.
"Chen Yang’s primary profession is a doctor. He also does a bit of business on the side," Yang Ruoxi replied proudly before Chen Yang had a chance to speak.
Seeing Yang Ruoxi’s pride, Lin Hui’s gaze toward Chen Yang shifted, now tinged with respect.
As her classmate, Lin Hui was well aware of Yang Ruoxi’s family situation. For someone to make her so proud, Lin Hui naturally thought highly of Chen Yang, believing him to be quite capable, and his demeanor became more deferential.
"Haha, Ruoxi, you have great taste. Mr. Chen is such a talented young man!"
Lin Hui quickly offered a compliment.
"Haha, thank you!"
Yang Ruoxi, clearly pleased, responded with a bright smile.
Chen Yang also chimed in with a compliment: "Mr. Lin is impressive too—running such a large and distinctive restaurant. Your future business is sure to thrive."
"Haha, Mr. Chen flatters me."
...
The three of them stood by their seats exchanging polite words for a while. Eventually, noticing that Yang Ruoxi’s face was deeply flushed, Chen Yang casually ended the conversation and prepared to leave with her.
Chen Yang initially planned to settle the bill at the front counter, but Lin Hui kindly insisted on waiving their payment.
Not one to take advantage of others, Chen Yang still insisted on paying before leaving.
"Alright then, I won’t insist against Mr. Chen. I hope to see you and Ruoxi here again soon—next time, we’ll waive the bill!" Lin Hui said warmly at the door.
"Thank you very much."
Chen Yang gave his thanks on behalf of Yang Ruoxi, then drove her away from the restaurant and into the car.
