Chapter 813: Chapter 809: The Look of the Lady Boss
After breakfast, Chen Yang was just about to go check the temperature-controlled room when his phone in his pocket suddenly rang.
It was a call from Yang Ruoxi.
Without hesitation, Chen Yang answered the phone.
Chen Yang initially thought that Yang Ruoxi was calling about something important.
Who would have guessed it was just to invite him out for a meal and some shopping.
Clearly, it had been some time since they’d seen each other—she must have missed him.
"Sure, when are we going? I’ll come find you."
Without a second thought, Chen Yang agreed immediately.
"Hmm... Come over now. I’m waiting for you at the shop."
"Alright."
After agreeing, they hung up the phone.
Chen Yang tidied himself up a little, grabbed his car keys, and headed out.
But instead of rushing to town, he took a detour to the temperature-controlled room first, wandered around to ensure everything was fine, and only then drove toward town.
About fifty minutes later, Chen Yang’s car pulled up outside Yang Ruoxi’s shop.
After parking his car, he went inside.
It was still early morning, so business wasn’t great—there were only a few customers buying drinks.
"Where’s the boss lady?"
Chen Yang scanned the shop but didn’t see Yang Ruoxi, so he asked an employee.
The employee, knowing that Chen Yang was a friend of the boss, pointed directly to the back office without asking more, "The boss lady is probably in the back doing the books."
"Alright."
Chen Yang nodded slightly, then walked toward the back office.
Entering the back office, he saw Yang Ruoxi holding a calculator in one hand and a ledger in the other, working away on her accounts.
She really looked the part of a proper boss lady.
"Boss lady, figured it all out yet?"
Chen Yang teased her as he walked over.
Yang Ruoxi immediately lifted her head upon hearing his voice.
Seeing Chen Yang, the joy in her eyes was apparent, though her expression didn’t show much reaction.
"Still teasing me? Hurry up and help—it’s way too complicated for me to calculate."
Yang Ruoxi said.
"Haha, alright."
Chen Yang smiled lightly, walked over, and started helping with the calculations.
Yang Ruoxi’s shop covered quite a few areas, so the accounting was fairly complex.
With Chen Yang’s help, the two took over half an hour to finally sort through the accounts.
When the calculations were finished and Chen Yang saw the profit from yesterday, he was mildly surprised.
"Wow, not bad at all. Your little shop makes over ten thousand yuan in profit a day?"
Seeing Chen Yang’s surprised expression, Yang Ruoxi felt a little smug. "Of course! My shop does great business. Don’t be fooled by how quiet mornings are—lunch and afternoon seating is always packed!"
"Wow, that’s really impressive."
Chen Yang gave her a thumbs-up.
Yang Ruoxi became even more pleased. "Hmph, naturally—I have a knack for business, you know!"
Yang Ruoxi’s pride was palpable—she practically floated with giddiness from a couple of compliments.
Chen Yang chuckled but held back, lest she get carried away to the moon.
"Since your business is this good, how about you treat for lunch today? It’s been ages since I’ve had some good wine—we’ve got to have some." Chen Yang joked.
Yang Ruoxi readily agreed without hesitation upon hearing this.
"Hmph, sure I’ll treat. I’m making big money now—I don’t sweat the small stuff."
"Haha, now that’s perfect."
Chen Yang laughed heartily.
After tidying up the ledgers together, the two arranged some things at the shop before heading out to explore the streets.
It was still just past nine in the morning—far too early for lunch.
Yang Ruoxi’s restaurant was right next to the pedestrian street, so neither of them needed to go far. They strolled around the nearby area.
Yang Ruoxi had been engulfed in managing her shop lately, so she hadn’t had time to go out for fun, nor had she seen Chen Yang for a while.
She was clearly very happy to see him this time.
The whole way, she held onto Chen Yang’s arm as they walked, alternately scanning the surroundings and chatting non-stop with him.
Chen Yang responded to her naturally.
The two of them spent the morning wandering around like a pair of young lovers.
They didn’t buy much—just two outfits for Yang Ruoxi, while Chen Yang didn’t get anything.
"Alright then, it’s getting late. Let’s find someplace to eat."
Chen Yang suggested.
Yang Ruoxi patted her stomach, realizing she was indeed a little hungry.
"Okay, where should we eat?"
She looked up and asked.
"I’m not sure. You pick—since you’re the one hosting." Chen Yang said with a smile.
"Tsk."
Yang Ruoxi shot him a sideways glance before pulling out her phone to look up nearby restaurants.
After browsing for a while, she spotted a highly-rated specialty restaurant.
She clicked into the listing for more details—after confirming the quality of the ambiance, the dishes, and the price range, she chose this one.
"Let’s go here, Chen Yang. The environment looks good, and the reviews are great." Yang Ruoxi showed the screen to Chen Yang.
Chen Yang glanced briefly at the phone and agreed the place looked decent.
"Alright, then this is the spot. I’m not picky."
Chen Yang nodded, and the two finalized their decision.
They first went back to the shop briefly and then drove to the chosen restaurant, following the GPS navigation.
About half an hour later, their vehicle arrived at the speciality restaurant.
The exterior of the place reminded Chen Yang of Yang Caiyun’s River Fish House—it was also a mid-to-high-end specialty restaurant with bespoke renovations in a standalone building.
The signage advertised freshness, including countryside chicken and duck offerings.
"Special Mountain Beef Banquet."
Chen Yang glanced at the sign as he got out of the car, instinctively reading the name aloud.
It was clear from the name that this place specialized in beef dishes.
"Haha, the exterior feels similar to the River Fish House."
Yang Ruoxi got out of the car, took a look, and then walked to Chen Yang’s side, wrapping her arm around his. "Let’s go in—the food’s probably decent."
"Alright."
Chen Yang felt the soft touch against his arm, stirring him slightly, but he quickly calmed himself down—it was broad daylight, after all, and his self-control hadn’t failed him yet.
"Welcome, sir and ma’am! Are you here for dining?"
As soon as they walked in, a waiter greeted them enthusiastically.
"Yes."
Chen Yang nodded.
"Sir, is it just the two of you?"
"Yes, just the two of us."
"Alright, this way, please."
The waiter confirmed the party size and quickly led Chen Yang and Yang Ruoxi to their seats in a cozy corner.
"Sir and ma’am, here’s the menu."
Once seated, the waiter handed them the menu so they could order.
"I’ll skip it—he can order instead."
Yang Ruoxi waved off the menu.
Chen Yang chuckled when he saw this but refrained from comment, lowering his head to start ordering.
This girl had really puffed up her sense of self-worth after making some money. Well, he wouldn’t hold back either—it’s not like one meal could dent her fortune.
Besides, their relationship didn’t require any pretense of politeness.
"Bring out all the specialties, and two bottles of quality wine as well." Chen Yang skimmed the menu briefly and placed the order.
"Understood, sir."
The waiter took down the order and walked off.
After the waiter left, Chen Yang poured tea for both himself and Yang Ruoxi, then joked with a smile, "Ruoxi, being a boss lady really suits you—it’s transformed your entire vibe. Letting me order freely without even blinking an eye!"
"Tsk."
Yang Ruoxi laughed at his remark. "I’ve always been this generous, thank you very much—not just because I’m a boss now!"
"Hahaha, alright, alright."
Chen Yang laughed heartily, sipping his tea.
From there, they started chatting away and diving into a lively conversation.
