At this time, Little Cui was still sitting quietly in the clinic, reading the books Chen Yang had given her.

Little Cui’s serious appearance was very beautiful, so much so that Chen Yang was slightly stunned for a moment.

However, after snapping back to reality, Chen Yang didn’t linger his gaze and walked over.

“Little Cui, are you hungry?”

Chen Yang asked with a smile.

Little Cui was so engrossed in reading that she didn’t even notice Chen Yang’s entrance.

Startled by his voice, she jumped.

“Chen…

Chen Yang, you’re back.”

“Yes, are you hungry?

If you are, I’ll cook something for you.”

Chen Yang nodded and asked again.

Little Cui stood up and nodded as well.

“I’m hungry.”

“Okay, then.

Continue reading your book, and I’ll cook for you.

I’ll teach you some basic medical knowledge in the afternoon,” Chen Yang said, smiling slightly before turning to leave the room.

It was Little Cui’s first visit; how could he not prepare something delicious?

Chen Yang went straight to the pheasant farm, caught a couple of plump pheasants, and headed home.

Just then, he remembered that he had run out of spices, so he went to Uncle Niu’s shop to buy some.

Ever since the mine on the back mountain started operations, Uncle Niu’s little shop at the foot of the mountain had been doing roaring business, earning a tidy sum every day.

With the increase in earnings, Uncle Niu’s shop naturally expanded its inventory.

Snacks, daily necessities – he stocked up on a whole lot of everything, almost turning the small shop into a big supermarket.

Carrying two pheasants, Chen Yang entered the shop where Uncle Niu was counting money.

On seeing Chen Yang, Uncle Niu immediately put down the cash in hand and walked over cheerfully.

“Yang Zi, here to buy something?”

Chen Yang glanced at the wad of cash in Uncle Niu’s hand and said with a chuckle, “Uncle Niu, your business is really good.

Is that money all from the sales at noon today?”

“Yes, it’s all from the sales this afternoon.”

Uncle Niu grinned from ear to ear, unable to contain his smile due to the good business in his store.

After happily responding to Chen Yang, Uncle Niu also noticed the pheasants in his hands: “Yang Zi, do you have guests over?

Are you here to buy some beer?”

“No, I came to get some spices and stuff; we’ve run out at home,” Chen Yang replied.

“Oh, I see.

Hold on a moment, and I’ll get them for you,” Uncle Niu said upon hearing this and then quickly retrieved various cooking spices for Chen Yang, along with a large bottle of juice.

“The spices add up to thirty-eight yuan, and I’ll give you this bottle of juice as a gift,” Uncle Niu said, handing them to Chen Yang with a smile.

He knew Chen Yang wouldn’t accept a freebie, so he simply charged a bit of money and casually offered something extra as a gift.

Chen Yang was taken aback for a moment but then couldn’t help laughing and accepted the drink Uncle Niu offered.

“Alright, I’ll accept this, thanks, Uncle Niu.”

“Hey, no need to be formal with me.

You’ve helped me so much; giving you something is the least I could do,” Uncle Niu replied cheerfully, waving his hands as he saw Chen Yang out of the shop.

Chen Yang brought the items back home and then started to prepare lunch.

As he cooked more and more often, his dishes became increasingly delicious.

The meals he prepared were not only complete in color, fragrance, and taste, but also were ready remarkably quickly.

It took him just over forty minutes to prepare a hot pot and five side dishes.

“Little Cui, lunch is ready.”

Having served the food on the table, Chen Yang immediately called out to her.

“Okay.”

Little Cui responded and walked in, her face showing surprise at the sight of the hot pot and the aromatic side dishes on the table.

“Chen Yang, did you make all of these?”

“Yeah, I made them all.

Come over, sit down and taste the food, and give me some feedback.

Let me know if there’s anything that needs improving,” Chen Yang said with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Xiao Cui immediately walked over and began tasting the food with chopsticks.

After tasting Chen Yang’s cooking, Xiao Cui was pleasantly surprised.

She was so astonished; she had never expected Chen Yang to be able to cook, and for it to be so delicious.

“How is it, Xiao Cui?

Is the taste alright?”

Seeing Xiao Cui not saying anything, Chen Yang asked.

Coming to her senses, Xiao Cui’s eyes widened as she gazed at Chen Yang, her face alight with surprise.

“Chen Yang, your culinary skills are amazing, even better than the chefs at my restaurant.”

“Really?

Isn’t that a bit exaggerated?”

Chen Yang asked, somewhat astonished.

Xiao Cui smiled and nodded, “Of course it’s true, it’s really delicious.”

Chen Yang could tell that Xiao Cui was speaking the truth and wasn’t just flattering him.

So, he also smiled.

“If it tastes good, eat more.

Have a full meal so I can teach you some knowledge in the afternoon.

When I’m not at home, you’ll be able to help me look after the clinic more.”

“Mm-hmm, okay.”

Xiao Cui nodded her head and continued eating with her head lowered.

The two enjoyed a rich lunch together.

After a short rest post-lunch, Chen Yang began teaching Xiao Cui some of the most basic knowledge.

For example, how to give injections, as well as how to deal with some common ailments like colds and fevers.

Chen Yang taught with great dedication, and Xiao Cui also studied very hard.

The two sat in the clinic all afternoon, only stopping when the people from the supper shop came to deliver lobsters in the evening.

Xiao Cui got on the van to return home.

“Thank you, Chen Yang.

I will seriously review what you taught me today and demonstrate it for you tomorrow when I come over,” Xiao Cui said excitedly as she got into the van.

After today’s interaction, Xiao Cui gradually became more familiar with Chen Yang.

Therefore, the way she spoke also became more normal, no longer shy and reluctant to make eye contact with Chen Yang.

“Ha-ha, yeah, make sure to review that material to reinforce it,” Chen Yang said with a smile, waving his hand as the van started and drove off.

Watching the van leave, Chen Yang turned to go back inside without a second thought.

However, at that moment, Uncle Niu, looking completely bewildered on the side, suddenly spoke to Chen Yang.

“Yang Zi…

who was that girl just now?”

Chen Yang answered naturally, “A daughter of a business partner, learning medicine from me.”

“Just learning medicine, that simple?”

Uncle Niu looked at Chen Yang with a hint of deeper meaning.

Chen Yang, realizing what Uncle Niu was implying, couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time.

“Of course it’s just learning medicine, what else could it be,” Chen Yang replied.

“He-he, alright then.” Seeing Chen Yang respond in such a manner, Uncle Niu chuckled, said nothing more, and left with Old Mr.

Xiao toward the village.

As they left, Chen Yang overheard Uncle Niu whisper to Old Mr.

Xiao.

“Yang Zi is really something, the girls around him are prettier than the next, lucky guy.”

Uncle Niu said with a broad smile.

Old Mr.

Xiao also expressed his intrigue, “Indeed, but then again, with someone as promising as Yang Zi, it’s normal to have a few more women around him, right?”

“Yes, yes, absolutely right,” Uncle Niu nodded repeatedly, and the two of them walked away laughing.

Chen Yang heard the entire conversation, leaving him torn between laughter and tears, unsure of what to say.

With a helpless shake of his head, he went back inside to sleep.
