Chapter 140 - 142 Strange Tiger
Chapter 140: Chapter 142 Strange Tiger
Mu Can hadn’t refined elixirs for a while, and in the Death Space, there wasn’t such a safe environment to ease his alchemy.
But here, with Purple Cloud acting as a protector and a group of monkeys guarding him, Mu Can confidently took out the Fire King Cauldron he had put away for a long time.
The ingredients required for the Primordial Soul Pill and the Body Strengthening Pill were not particularly rare; at least for Mu Can, he had prepared most of the materials, especially those needed for the Primordial Soul Pill, which were as common as weeds in the first layer of the Reincarnation Pearl.
From starting the alchemy furnace to the Dan Formation, it took Mu Can just half an hour to successfully produce both types of pills.
Looking at the round pills in his hand that emitted wafts of fragrance, Mu Can nodded in satisfaction.
Ever since he had mastered the Second Revolution of the Mystic Dragon Nine Revolutions, his fire control abilities had improved significantly.
Although his Dragon Fire was different from Dan Fire, with its main strength lying in attacking and not always able to be as gentle as needed for some alchemy tasks,
Mu Can still perfectly refined the two pills with his superb fire control skills.
Purple Cloud had been closely watching Mu Can’s performance and, seeing his commendable refining, nodded in approval.
"Administer it to the old monkey, and use Monkey Wine to wash down the pills," Purple Cloud instructed.
"Chirp chirp chirp chirp." Little Red looked at the pills in Mu Can’s hand with a greedy expression but didn’t forget to translate Purple Cloud’s instructions to the Monkey King.
Upon hearing Little Red’s translation, the Monkey King immediately had the other monkeys bring over the gourd filled with Monkey Wine.
After administering the pills and the wine, the old monkey began recovering at a visibly rapid pace.
His withered and frail body gradually plumped up, and the originally dull fur also became sleek and shiny.
Even while still unconscious, the furrows of his brows slowly relaxed.
"Chatter chatter chatter." The monkey leader watched the old monkey with a happy face, excitedly calling out.
Seeing his father slowly get better made the monkey leader exceptionally joyful.
Mu Can, observing this, felt a pang in his heart as the monkeys’ expression reminded him of his own father.
Mu Zi’ang, his father who braved the Death Space for him, who was willing to risk his own life for his son.
It had been nearly half a month since Mu Can entered the Death Space, and now, apart from longing for victory, he had not a single clue.
"Father, where exactly are you? Can I really save you?" Mu Can had never pondered this question before—after achieving victory, could he really rescue his father?
"Little scamp." Purple Cloud, sensing the shift in Mu Can’s mood, gently grasped him and asked with concern.
"Sister Yun, I miss my father." Mu Can rarely exposed his inner feelings to others, and after entering the Death Space, he had no time to dwell on Mu Zi’ang.
But Mu Can had never forgotten the sole purpose of coming to the Death Space, which was to bring Mu Zi’ang back home.
"It’ll be alright, don’t worry. The Great Power who created this space possesses strength beyond my imagination. Even now, having regained my strength, I couldn’t even dream of an undertaking like this," Purple Cloud said, comforting him while holding his hand.
"Mhm." Mu Can nodded vigorously, setting aside the emotions in his heart and turned to look at the old monkey that had taken the pills.
The old monkey lying on the stone bed groaned and slowly woke up.
The old monkey had just awakened when it noticed two unfamiliar human faces among the circle of onlookers.
Its heart jolted, an expression of alertness plastered as it gazed at Mu Can and Purple Cloud.
The young man was not much of an issue, but the inscrutable girl exuded an overwhelming pressure.
This pressure resembled an innate suppression.
It was akin to the fear a rabbit in the mountains feels upon encountering a tiger.
Upon seeing Purple Cloud, the old monkey felt a fear emanating from deep within its heart.
"Esteemed guests. Was it you who saved me?" the old monkey spoke unexpectedly.
"A monkey with the strength of a Martial Venerate." Upon hearing the old monkey speak, Mu Can thought to himself.
"Chirp chirp chirp chirp." Hearing the old monkey’s question, the leader hastened to chirp out an explanation by its side.
After listening to the leader’s explanation, the old monkey slowly got up and paid respects to Purple Cloud and Mu Can.
Purple Cloud and Mu Can somberly accepted the gesture, acknowledging that accepting a simple courtesy was the least they could do for saving a life.
"Thank you both for saving my life." The old monkey, like a wise old man, was not at all like the other monkeys.
"There’s no need to be courteous, Monkey King. I would like to ask, you also possess the strength of a Martial Venerate, how did you lose to that old tiger?" Mu Can inquired.
He now had a suspicion: had the monkey leader deceived him? If the tiger only had the basic level strength of a Martial Venerate, how could it defeat another with the same strength as the old monkey? There must be a reason. If the old monkey’s answer was incorrect, then the monkey leader had deceived him.
"It’s a long story." Speaking of the time he was injured, the old monkey showed a face filled with helplessness.
"I, too, had the strength of a Martial Venerate, and I was evenly matched with that old tiger that fell from the sky. He fought me while trying to seize our dwelling place. I was only wary of his close combat skills, but I did not expect that the tiger’s soul attack would be so formidable. Caught unaware, I was injured by him." Recalling the battle, the old monkey still had a face filled with lingering fear.
"I barely managed to escape and brought the monkeys to this place, only to fall into a deep unconsciousness. Our Spiritual Monkey tribe is also part of the Demon Beast family, and the greatest disadvantage of the Demon Beast family is our cultivation of the soul. If it were not for your kindness, this time our group of monkeys and monkey offspring might have not escaped doom." At this point, the old monkey paid another respect to Mu Can.
The earlier respect was to thank Mu Can for saving his life, and now it was for saving the entire tribe.
"There’s no need for excessive formalities, Monkey King. This is also a fortunate affinity. I was unconscious outside, and the leader brought me back and even fed me Monkey Wine. It’s only right that I exert some effort for you." Mu Can was genuinely accepting; had it not been for the monkey’s prior goodwill, Mu Can would not have involved himself.
"By the way, Monkey King, there is something I wish to ask you about."
"Feel free to speak."
"In this space, are there also six gates?" Mu Can asked with anticipation.
Finding the portal would allow him to leave this secret chamber.
"Portals, yes, there are. That old tiger entered here through one of those portals," the old monkey paused before responding.
"He was able to pass through the portal?" Mu Can asked with confusion. In his memory, the original inhabitants of the labyrinth were unable to pass through portals.
The old monkey nodded, "We are unable to open that gate, but for some reason, that tiger could pass through it."
This tiger definitely had some peculiarities, and it was very likely a challenger like Mu Can.
"It seems I must find this tiger and take a look; perhaps the key to leaving this maze lies with him," Mu Can silently contemplated.
