Chapter 137: Chapter 139: The Second Special Chess Piece
Martial Saint against Martial Saint, Mu Can had already won once, but he would never have imagined that the opponent still had a second Martial Saint.
"This is just too unfair." Mu Can, who had thought the victory was in his grasp, immediately wore a bitter expression on his face.
Both sides assumed their positions, with Mu Can ready for a desperate battle. There was nothing to complain about; if there was anything to blame, it was the home-field advantage of the opponent and their incredibly good luck.
"Fight." Either way, this battle was inevitable.
Seeing Mu Can’s expression shift from overjoyed to bitterly disappointed, Purple Cloud was full of curiosity.
"What’s wrong? Didn’t you just win?" Purple Cloud had just seen Mu Can win with relative ease, and without special chess pieces, Mu Can’s control over battle chess was indeed very strong.
"There’s been a little change; the opponent has two Martial Saints," Mu Can said helplessly, as the victory that was once within reach slipped away.
Purple Cloud burst into laughter at Mu Can’s words, "Isn’t that cheating?"
"It is cheating, sigh, what can you do." Mu Can sighed, bracing himself for the fight that was about to ensue.
"Damn it, how dare you bully people." Mu Can still chose to strike first.
Mu Can, filled with pent-up rage, immediately unleashed his most powerful attack.
"Let’s see you bully people." With full fury, Mu Can controlled his Martial Saint Chess piece, which instantly appeared before the opponent and threw a fierce punch.
In an instant, Mu Can felt an immense force emanating from the opponent’s body, and his chess piece was blasted against the walls surrounding the secret chamber.
"Damn it," Mu Can exclaimed in shock. This was just too abnormal.
"Investigation."
"Special Chess."
Another special chess piece, the opponent had a Martial Saint Level special chess piece on top of having two Martial Saints.
So, from the very beginning, this game was destined for Mu Can’s defeat.
"Lost." Mu Can looked at Purple Cloud and resignedly said.
"This is a dead game." Only then did Mu Can realize that the battle had been unfair from the start, not only because of luck; it was likely to a large extent because the opponent simply didn’t want to let him win.
"It’s okay, isn’t it just teleportation to another secret chamber? With me here, we can go anywhere," Purple Cloud encouraged Mu Can.
"We can go anywhere, we can go anywhere." Xiao Hong echoed like a parrot, looking excited.
Mu Can nodded; he wasn’t so discouraged by this single defeat, he was just a bit indignant.
Sure enough, the opponent’s chess piece teleported in front of Mu Can’s chess piece like a flash, and with just one strike, Mu Can’s last chess piece was eradicated.
"Death battle chess, Mu Can failed, will be randomly teleported to a dangerous secret chamber."
Just as Mu Can heard these words, he quickly took Purple Cloud into the Reincarnation Pearl, and the next second, he himself disappeared beside the chessboard.
After Mu Can disappeared, the Puppet on the other side of the chessboard also gently stood up.
"Challenger Mu Can, a Cultivator from the Mortal World, with a third level intelligence." The puppet softly spoke as if it were reporting something.
Mu Can was still unaware that the battle chess wasn’t just about winning or losing, but more importantly, it was to test Mu Can’s comprehension abilities. Yet, what exactly was the use of the results?
At this time, Mu Can had lost consciousness and entered into a comatose state.
Mu Can lay quietly in a forest, and after an unknown amount of time, a group of monkeys foraging for food discovered the unconscious Mu Can.
Chattering as though they were discussing something, a particularly brave monkey quietly approached Mu Can, extending a fluffy little paw to gingerly touch Mu Can’s face, finding it still warm.
"Chatter chatter chatter," the monkey called to its companions as if to inform them there was no danger.
At the monkey’s summoning, other monkeys also flocked over, each touching Mu Can, displaying a curious fascination with the unconscious intruder.
"Chatter chatter chatter." The monkey who first found Mu Can seemed to be the leader of the group. Its eyes darted around as it began giving orders to the other monkeys.
Mu Can could never have imagined that he would be kidnapped by a group of monkeys while unconscious.
The group of monkeys, thus, lifted Mu Can and, as if carrying some battle spoil, returned to their cave.
"Purple Cloud, this doesn’t feel quite right," Purple Cloud confessed guiltily inside the Reincarnation Pearl to Little Red.
"Where’s Mu Can?" Little Red had always referred to Mu Can by name without ceremony.
"He’s been kidnapped by monkeys," Purple Cloud sensed that the monkeys meant no harm to Mu Can, and since the monkey leader’s strength was merely at the peak Martial King level, nowhere near a match for Mu Can’s, she simply observed as Mu Can was carried away into the mountain cave by the group of monkeys.
"Kidnapped by monkeys, haha, kidnapped by monkeys!" Upon hearing that Mu Can was kidnapped by monkeys, Little Red couldn’t contain his joy. Even though he had a contract with Mu Can, for some reason, Little Red never took a liking to Mu Can and lacked any sense of being a proper Beast Pet.
What he didn’t know was that if it weren’t for Purple Cloud’s protection, Mu Can would have probably stripped him of his fur long ago.
The monkeys’ cave looked rather imposing, with a huge stone chair in the center serving as the leader’s seat.
The monkey who had decided to bring Mu Can back took the seat confidently, looking quite impressive.
"Chatter chatter chatter." The leader spoke up, and as soon as it finished, two little monkeys emerged, working together to carry a huge gourd. Two monkeys with Martial Arts Sect strength were required to lift the gourd, indicating it was exceptionally heavy.
"Chatter chatter chatter?" The little monkeys looked at the gourd with concern, glancing at their leader.
After receiving an affirmative response from the leader, they gently opened the gourd’s stopper.
A rich aroma of wine wafted out, and soon the entire cave was filled with the fragrance.
Each monkey greedily inhaled the scent in the air, eyeing Mu Can with envy.
With the stopper removed, a monkey carefully lifted Mu Can to lean against a rock, positioning him properly.
Two monkeys worked together to lift the gourd, intending to feed Mu Can the wine inside.
"It’s actually Monkey Wine, the kid’s got some luck," Purple Cloud observed the situation outside with caution. Seeing that the monkeys chose to share their painstakingly brewed Monkey Wine with Mu Can, a smile appeared on her face.
Mu Can wasn’t so unlucky after all. It seemed the battle chess earlier had used up all his bad luck, and upon coming to this secret chamber, he encountered such hospitable monkeys.
"Glug glug glug." A large mouthful of wine entered Mu Can’s stomach.
With Monkey Wine in his belly, Mu Can felt a comfortable sensation throughout his body, his eyes trembled slightly, and he woke up.
