Chapter 136: Chapter 138: Out of the Woods?

Purple Cloud carried Little Red over, looking at Mu Can with a face full of concern.

"What’s the matter?" Purple Cloud asked confusedly.

"There’s been a bit of an accident, I might lose." Mu Can said with some bitterness.

At this point, there was no better solution; despite being fully prepared for everything, Mu Can hadn’t expected the opponent’s luck to be so incredibly good. The probability of a special chess piece appearing was actually very low, but encountering one was just that—encountering one.

"Aren’t you quite confident?" Seeing Mu Can’s defeated look, Purple Cloud heartlessly burst out laughing.

"Confident, confident." Seeing Purple Cloud laugh, Little Red also began to hop and shout cheerily in Purple Cloud’s hands, as if it had found some treasure.

"Shut up." Hearing Little Red mocking him as well, Mu Can felt his face starting to lose face, so he scolded.

Hearing Mu Can scold her, Little Red was not scared at all, instead, she laughed even more joyously, rolling around in Purple Cloud’s hand.

"Stop provoking him." Purple Cloud stroked Little Red, and Little Red stopped talking, but her little eyes still stared tightly at Mu Can.

"Just do your best. Here, ensuring your safety is still no problem." Purple Cloud said with a strong surge of confidence emanating from him.

If she couldn’t protect Mu Can here, then her title as an honorary Martial Venerate would be undeserved.

"Okay." Mu Can looked at Purple Cloud and nodded firmly.

Life and death are decreed by fate, wealth and honor are from heaven; Mu Can didn’t believe his luck could be that bad.

"It exploded." Looking at the opponent’s chess pieces, Mu Can selected what he thought might be the opponent’s Martial Saint Chess and harshly bombed it with his own Thunderbolt.

Both chess pieces disappeared simultaneously, yet there were no indication messages, so Mu Can did not know which chess piece of the opponent he had actually destroyed; he could only wait and see the opponent’s next move.

Mu Can still had three chess pieces in hand, one Martial Saint, one Martial Venerate, and one Martial Arts Sect.

The opponent still had five pieces, one known special chess piece, it was guessed that there might still be one Thunderbolt, and the rest were unknown if there were any more Martial Saint Chess.

"There’s no other way, let’s see how it goes." If he had just destroyed the opponent’s Martial Saint, then his chances of winning were still fifty percent. If it was an insignificant chess piece, then Mu Can had no chance of winning at all.

The opponent’s biggest advantage is that it’s just a Puppet, devoid of human emotions. Even if all its chess pieces were killed, there wouldn’t be any emotional fluctuations.

"Bang." One of the opponent’s chess pieces leaped into the air, collided with Mu Can’s Martial Arts Sect, but was immediately eliminated by Mu Can’s Martial Arts Sect.

"What is he trying to do?" Mu Can was genuinely puzzled. If his own Thunderbolt was still available, it would make sense for the opponent to use a smaller chess piece for probing, but it appeared his Thunderbolt had already been used; such probing was less effective than directly deploying a Martial Saint for a total annihilation.

No, Mu Can suddenly realized, if the opponent was probing him, there was only one reason – the opponent didn’t know that his chess piece just now was the Thunderbolt.

Then there was only one possibility, the chess piece that was blown up by the opponent just now, was his Thunderbolt.

"That’s more like it." Thinking of this, Mu Can nodded; if that was the case, there was still a slight chance for a reversal in the situation.

He still had three chess pieces, one Martial Saint—Peak combat power, one Martial Venerate, and one Martial Arts Sect.

The opponent still had four chess pieces, one with confirmed Martial Saint strength - the Martial Venerate, at least one Martial Saint, the rest definitely being ordinary chess pieces.

"Bang." With this thought, Mu Can also became bold, directly using his Martial Venerate to knock off one of the opponent’s chess pieces.

Sure enough, the enemy was worried about my Thunderblast, so they never dared to reveal their Martial Saint, only sending out smaller Chess pieces hoping to clear the mines.

"Not so easy," Mu Can had already figured out a counter-strategy. Just one opportunity to eliminate the opponent’s Martial Venerate with his own Martial Saint would grant him a chance for the final battle.

Perhaps sensing Mu Can’s determination, the opponent’s movements also slowed down. Whether they thought about dying together with Mu Can’s chess piece using Thunderblast is unknown.

Seeing the opponent’s hesitation, Mu Can chuckled, thanks to a fortunate misunderstanding. Initially intending to take out the opponent’s Martial Saint with his Thunderblast, as long as his Martial Saint didn’t encounter the opponent’s Thunderblast, the final victory would surely be his. Unexpectedly, his Thunderblast actually hit the opponent’s Thunderblast, creating an illusion and accidentally leveling the playing field.

"Bang." Mu Can’s Martial Venerate bypassed the opponent’s special Chess piece and eliminated another of their pieces.

The fight returned to an even state once more.

Each with three Chess pieces. Mu Can still had one Martial Saint, one Martial Venerate, one Martial Arts Sect.

The opponent had one confirmed special Chess piece; of the remaining two, at least one was a Martial Saint.

Seeing his Chess pieces continuously getting captured by Mu Can, the opponent obviously started to panic.

What was initially a good hand had been reduced to this current state, just because of one misjudgment, allowing Mu Can to figure out the opponent’s Chess pieces.

The opponent was also starting to realize what Chess pieces Mu Can had.

There was no Thunderblast on the field at all, yet Mu Can had managed to eliminate so many of his Chess pieces with cautious strategy.

By now, the balance of the battle had evened out.

The determining factor for the final battle outcome was only one, the high-end combat power.

By the time the opponent realized this, Mu Can had already taken the opportunity to eliminate their special Chess piece.

Even a special Chess piece must abide by the rules within the chessboard, suppressed by the Martial Saint, it was instantly killed.

"Now the chances of winning are normal, fifty-fifty," Mu Can nodded in satisfaction seeing the opponent’s special Chess piece eliminated.

The decisive final battle would take place between Chess pieces at the Martial Saint Level.

"Please." The Martial Saint Chess that had been skulking in a corner of the Chessboard finally moved, free from the threat of Thunderblast, seemingly gaining liberty.

It directly clashed with one of the opponent’s Chess pieces.

An evenly matched battle, both sides with a Martial Saint Chess.

The ultimate showdown was about to begin.

This time, Mu Can was lucky; the opponent wasn’t a special Chess piece. After an intense battle, Mu Can won.

"I won." Having eliminated the opponent’s Martial Saint, a delighted Mu Can thought, ’After mountains and rivers confuse my path, a village appears in the blooming flowers and shady willows.’

"Let’s end this." As his Martial Saint Chess piece touched the opponent’s last Chess piece, Mu Can said.

An unexpected victory did not occur, evenly matched again, the opponent actually had two Martial Saints.

"Damn it." The fight returned to the starting point; another battle had to be fought.
