Chapter 133: Chapter 133: 3 Demands
Looking at Red Eagle, who seemed mentally disturbed, Mu Can felt speechless.
Now, Red Eagle seemed to have the intelligence of a ten-year-old, a stark contrast to the decisive killer he used to be.
The change was so dramatic that the red-feathered Red Eagle actually looked kind of cute.
"Why would I lie to you?" Mu Can asked helplessly.
"Who knows, you must be jealous that I’m handsome." Red Eagle retorted arrogantly.
Mu Can flicked his fingers lightly, tapping on Red Eagle’s head, "Get out of here, look how full of yourself you are."
"Ouch, how dare you hit me?" Red Eagle cried out in pain from Mu Can’s flick on his head.
"Behave, or I’ll stew you and eat you," Mu Can threatened.
Dealing with disobedient kids required proper education, and Mu Can seemed to have gotten into the role.
But when Red Eagle heard Mu Can’s words, he immediately burst into loud crying, tears pouring from his eyes like they cost nothing.
"You’re bullying me? Waa waa waa." This crying wasn’t trivial; it was like opening a new door, as Red Eagle cried harder and harder, unable to stop like he had mint gum.
Mu Can felt overwhelmed by Red Eagle, who seemed to have lost his fierce edge after getting hurt; Mu Can couldn’t forget how Red Eagle used to transform and devour his enemies.
"Stop your whining." Mu Can couldn’t stand others crying, especially now that Red Eagle was crying non-stop like a little kid.
Purple Cloud rolled her eyes at Mu Can and walked up to gently grab the crying Red Eagle, holding him in her hands, her hand gently stroking Red Eagle’s small head.
"There, there, don’t cry," Purple Cloud said softly.
Maybe because he was tired from crying, or maybe Purple Cloud’s words had an effect, Red Eagle gradually stopped crying, his fiery little head lifting to look at Purple Cloud.
"Sister, he’s bullying me."
"It’s okay, I’ll hit him for you." Purple Cloud, barely holding back her laughter, slapped Mu Can.
Mu Can watched Red Eagle, who was now all smiles, with a helpless expression, the severity of his transformation too great.
"Number Thirty-Six, is there a way for him to recover?" Mu Can asked.
If Red Eagle couldn’t return to normal, that would be problematic. Mu Can already had enough on his plate just managing one Fortune Beast; he didn’t want another cognitively underdeveloped Demon Beast by his side.
"His strength might recover gradually, but as for his mind, it’s rare for creatures devoured by the Devouring God Tree to survive, so I’m not sure if he can recover," Number Thirty-Six answered.
"What’s up?" Purple Cloud happily teased Red Eagle, and it was undeniable that Red Eagle in his little bird form was indeed quite adorable.
"Number Thirty-Six said his mind can’t recover, but his strength will gradually," Mu Can repeated what Number Thirty-Six had said.
"Hey, no big deal, just keep him as a Beast Pet, and if you don’t have time to care for him, just throw him into the second layer of the Reincarnation Pearl, can’t just watch him die in the labyrinth," Purple Cloud said nonchalantly, though Red Eagle’s strength seemed weak, having such a little bird was quite fun.
"Uh... okay." Mu Can thought it over and indeed, what Purple Cloud said made sense. Even if he didn’t have time for Red Eagle, tossing him into the second layer of the Reincarnation Pearl was an option. Since he risked a lot to save Red Eagle, he couldn’t just let him fend for himself.
"Are you willing to enter into a contract with me?" With that thought, Mu Can looked at Red Eagle and asked.
Who knew that upon hearing Mu Can’s question, Red Eagle turned its head with a look of disdain, "I don’t want to make a contract with you, I want to make a contract with sister."
Although not knowing what the contract entailed, Red Eagle simply did not want to sign a contract with Mu Can. Compared to Mu Can, Red Eagle preferred Purple Cloud, who spoke in a pleasant voice and was pretty too.
"You little lustful bird, I’ll roast you and eat your meat one day," Mu Can grumbled discontentedly.
"Sister, he said he wants to eat me," Red Eagle, although weakened, could still easily hear Mu Can’s mutter, and immediately started fluttering in Purple Cloud’s hands.
"Be good, listen to sister, and make a contract with him," Purple Cloud herself couldn’t keep a beast pet, so she could only persuade Red Eagle to recognize Mu Can as its master.
Hearing Purple Cloud’s words, Red Eagle tilted its head in thought. In fact, from the moment it met Purple Cloud, Red Eagle felt a sense of kinship. Now that Purple Cloud was asking it to accept Mu Can as its master, even though it was reluctant, Red Eagle decided to heed Purple Cloud’s words after all.
"Alright, I agree." Red Eagle took on an air of condescending generosity, completely disregarding Mu Can’s feelings.
"But I have one condition," Red Eagle said, as if not noticing the murderous look in Mu Can’s eyes, adding a condition.
Mu Can almost gritted his teeth as he said, "Let’s hear it, what’s your condition?"
Purple Cloud also looked interested, God knows what kind of conditions the silly little bird would come up with.
"First, you have to apologize for your behavior just now, you insulted the dignity of a demon beast who is the epitome of the avian class."
"Second, I can recognize you as my master, but in the future, I will only listen to sister’s commands, you must not order me around."
"Third, I’m quite picky about food, you need to feed me tasty stuff, otherwise I won’t agree."
"If you meet these conditions, then I can recognize you as my master. As for the privileges you can enjoy as a master, they are currently limited to you riding on my back, but you must be together with sister."
Seeing Red Eagle’s haughty demeanor, Mu Can was visibly annoyed, wondering if he was getting a beast pet or hiring a tyrant.
"Hahaha, no problem, sister agrees on his behalf," Purple Cloud grandly decided for Mu Can, it was her first time meeting such an interesting little bird.
"Sister, make him promise," Red Eagle said mistrustfully.
"Little rascal, I think this bird is quite interesting, go ahead and give your word," Purple Cloud told Mu Can.
"Alright, I promise, but I have one condition too," Mu Can said to Red Eagle with a smile, an air of trustworthy assurance about him.
Although Red Eagle looked quite shrewd, how could it outsmart Mu Can.
"Let’s hear it," Red Eagle did not agree immediately but looked at Mu Can with a cautious face, an expression as if seeing through him.
"I accept your three conditions, but I have one requirement for you, you must completely obey Purple Cloud," Mu Can said with a slight smile, sharing his thoughts.
"Little guy, wait until you actually sign the contract with me, then we’ll see if you’re still in control, hehe,"
"Of course, no problem," Red Eagle agreed without hesitation,
but in its little head, there was one thing it hadn’t figured out yet.
That was, Purple Cloud and Mu Can were in cahoots all along.
