Chapter 580: 543 Holding Back a Big Move (1 more)
After spending two days in the countryside, upon returning to Hua City, Tang Su first let Tongtong rest well. Once he was rested, she took Tongtong to see Lin Jiaojiao.
Lin Jiaojiao knew they had gone to find Lu Han’s former little patient these past two days, but when Tang Su introduced him as her ’son,’ even Lin Jiaojiao was shocked.
"Are you crazy, how old are you to be raising such a big son?" Lin Jiaojiao didn’t really want to ask this in front of a child, but she was truly too shocked.
"What else, should I give him to you to raise?" Tang Su chuckled lightly.
"For someone my age, it would seem appropriate to have such a big son," Lin Jiaojiao pouted.
"This is a child Lu Han adopted, and also, Tongtong and we have mutual affection. If you want to adopt him, Tongtong has to agree himself."
"Yeah, yeah, stop showing off," Lin Jiaojiao glared at her, "Where’s Lu Han? When exactly can I get discharged from the hospital?"
"Lu Han has gone to change Tongtong’s household registration book. However, he asked me to tell you to keep calm. When it’s time for you to be discharged, you won’t need to urge, they’ll let you out."
"What about the little tavern? Who ended up buying it?" Lin Jiaojiao was still concerned about the small tavern she and Elder Tan owned.
The little tavern bore too many wonderful memories of her and Elder Tan.
"Several chefs from the back kitchen pooled their money. Lu Han let them pay half first, and the rest will be paid with the money they earn later. The chefs are pretty happy about it."
"Your Lu Han is always reliable when it comes to handling things."
"Tongtong, call me godmother, okay?" Lin Jiaojiao pulled Tongtong over.
After a huge pregnancy misunderstanding previously, Lin Jiaojiao realized that she actually still harbored the desire to be a mother.
Now, since she couldn’t be a mother, being a godmother was also good.
It was just right; since Lu Han and Tang Su had adopted such a big son, she could also bask in their glory.
"..." Tongtong turned his head to look at Tang Su.
He wanted Tang Su to give some advice.
"If Tongtong has one more godmother, you’ll have one more person who loves you. If Tongtong is willing, nod your head; if not, shake your head. It’s okay, Auntie Lin isn’t petty," Tang Su said.
Lin Jiaojiao: "..."
Tongtong thought about it and nodded.
"Wow, that’s great, thank you, Tongtong, thank you for letting me be your godmother. I’ll send you a mobile phone as a gift and then send you a big red envelope."
"You can also send red envelopes with a phone watch now, godmother," Tang Su lifted Tongtong’s slender wrist, showing off the phone watch she had bought for him at the mall before coming to the hospital.
"Alright, red envelope, godmother will send it now. Once your Lu Dad agrees to let godmother be discharged, I need to host a feast, and we can also have a ceremony to honor the godmother."
"Tongtong, thank your godmother," Tang Su reminded Tongtong.
"Thank you, godmother," Tongtong said.
Lin Jiaojiao was thrilled, repeatedly waving her hands, "No need to thank me, no need."
She didn’t make it as a mother, but being a godmother was still something good.
**
The elders from both sides soon found out about Lu Han and Tang Su adopting Tongtong. On hearing that the two adopted nearly a ten-year-old boy as a son, Bai Wei hurriedly called Tang Su.
She initially tried to call her son, but Lu Han was busy and had no time to answer.
"Mom—" Tang Su was at her parents’ house when she received the call from Bai Wei. Her mother had returned today, and her godmother had gone to the airport to pick her up, while the ’Emperor’ had been preparing a feast at home.
Tongtong was playing with the toy that Tang Shengyi had bought him.
Although Tang Shengyi knew that Tang Su had adopted such a big son and was a bit worried, in front of the child, he hadn’t said much to Tang Su.
Zhao Xinlan, on the other hand, quite liked Tongtong. The kid was sensible and well-behaved, not noisy or bothersome, unlike those unruly children who could make your head ache.
For those overly noisy kids, Zhao Xinlan couldn’t understand how their parents tolerated them; she certainly couldn’t.
In public places, if she encountered such unruly children and their parents ignored them, she’d only give them ten minutes before complaining.
Making a fuss at home with your own family was one thing, but outside, who the hell was indulging your kids?
Your child might be a treasure in your home, but once outside, they are citizens who must abide by social order and not disturb others.
"Tangtang, I heard you and Lu Han adopted a son. What’s the plan, are you two planning on not having children for now, or have you decided not to have children at all?"
After asking that question, Bai Wei, worried that Tang Su might feel uncomfortable and misunderstand her intentions as rushing for grandchildren, quickly explained, "Mom isn’t rushing you, I just want to understand your plans for the future, to make sure I’m not being too nosy, okay?"
"No, Mom. Adopting Tongtong won’t affect our plans to have children in the future. Tongtong’s parents met with an accident, and his grandparents are too old. He still needs Lu Han to arrange surgery for him, and there’s no one to take care of him. He won’t get better without treatment, so adopting him was the best solution."
"So that’s how it is. Okay, I heard that you and Wu Jie have a new collaboration. When are you coming to Beijing?"
"It should be soon. I’m waiting for Lu Han to decide on a date, and I’ll let you know immediately, okay?"
"That’s fine, but still, I think you shouldn’t spoil Lu Han too much, don’t always go along with everything he says."
"I won’t."
"Hmm, then Mom can rest easy. When you’re free, send me a few photos of the little guy. Lu Han really knows how to handle things, making me a grandmother and not telling me sooner."
Bai Wei complained about her son.
Tang Su took a couple of photos of Tongtong and sent them to Bai Wei.
Bai Wei praised the little guy for being good-looking.
Tang Su knew that anyone who met Tongtong would like him.
Because he really was that well-behaved.
If the children she would have in the future were all this well-behaved, she wouldn’t mind having a few more.
Having Tongtong in their family as the big brother might even make her and Lu Han’s children follow his example and be a bit more well-behaved and likeable.
At half-past ten, Zhao Xinlan picked up Su Ruoan and headed home. It was a struggle for Zhao Xinlan to hold back from congratulating Su Ruoan on becoming a grandmother.
Upon entering the house, when Tang Su held Tongtong’s hand and asked him to call Su Ruoan ’Grandma,’ Su Ruoan’s usually calm and collected face cracked a bit.
"Grandma?" Su Ruoan looked steadily at everyone present, while Zhao Xinlan smiled gleefully yet disappointedly.
Zhao Xinlan nodded, "He calls Tang Bao ’Mom,’ so doesn’t he have to call you ’Grandma’? I wanted to see your emotional collapse, shocked beyond belief, but I’m afraid I won’t get to see that in this lifetime."
Why so emotionally steady?
Isn’t living so elegantly exhausting for a woman?
Be a bit more spontaneous, shout when you want to, let loose, it’s so much better.
Su Ruoan shot Zhao Xinlan a look, thinking how deep Zhao Xinlan was hiding this. Such a big deal and she hadn’t breathed a word about it the whole trip. No wonder she found Zhao Xinlan a bit too quiet today; she was saving a big surprise, wasn’t she?
