Chapter 466: 433 An inexplicable storm 1 (1 update)
Three people and one cat just coexisted harmoniously at a single table.
On a long table for four, Tang Su had Lu Han sit with Tongtong on one side. Tang Su took out a small blanket to lay on the chair first before placing the cat basket with Little Douding on top.
Little Douding had already eaten while on the boat and was now lazily resting with its eyes closed in the basket.
There were still quite a few people dining in the restaurant, and with the noise, the little one couldn’t fall asleep.
It lay there quietly half-squinting, extremely well-behaved.
Some young girls who walked by their table and saw it would even come forward to ask Tang Su if they could pet it. Tang Su generously let them and reminded them to be careful, also instructing Little Douding not to scratch the pretty girls.
Some children were also attracted by Little Douding and, surrounding it, asked Tang Su curiously, "Sister, what kind of cat is this? We’ve never seen one before."
"A Ragdoll cat; it’s a very well-behaved kitty," Tang Su replied warmly.
"Wow, I’m going to ask my mom to buy me a Ragdoll cat too, so cute!" The little girl exclaimed while clapping her hands in glee.
A few kids chattered away, calling Tang Su ’sister’ and wanting to pet the adorable Little Douding.
Little Douding, unaccustomed to such a noisy scene, tucked its little head into the basket, only revealing a pair of eyes, cautiously avoiding the ’claws’ of the children.
Seeing that it didn’t want to be touched by the children, Tang Su respected its wishes.
"The little guy is shy, how about you go back to your mom and dad and eat nicely, okay?" Tang Su patiently persuaded.
"We’re not leaving, we want to play with it. Little kitty, come out," the children called out in unison.
However, the more they called, the less Little Douding was willing to show itself, resulting in a stalemate for quite some time.
One of the chubby boys seemed to have run out of patience and, without asking Tang Su, reached out his stout arm to grab Little Douding.
"Hey, that’s not okay..."
Before Tang Su could intervene, the boy acted quicker. Little Douding, in self-defense, let out a fierce meow as a warning, but it didn’t lash out with its claws at the boy.
Yet, at that meow, the boy paused and, two seconds later, burst into loud crying.
Tang Su: "..."
Why did he start crying?
So, there’s a reason why she doesn’t like those kids who cry and fuss at the drop of a hat.
This unpredictable crying and fussing really was a headache.
The boy’s family, upon hearing the crying, came over quickly. Theirs was a typical family where one child was doted on by six adults; the boy himself was quite hefty, and of the six adults, aside from the one who appeared the youngest, presumably the boy’s mother, the others were all quite plump as well.
Their bodies jiggled as they walked.
Hearing their precious one crying, the boy’s mother went to comfort him first, while two other women cornered Tang Su and her group, "What’s going on here? Are you bullying our baby?"
"No, not at all, auntie, we didn’t bully your baby. It’s your baby who wanted to grab our kitty, but the kitty didn’t want to be caught and didn’t scratch him either. He just suddenly started crying out of the blue; we have no idea why."
Tang Su stood up, patiently explaining to the two aunts who were questioning her.
When out and about, harmony is the most valuable, and that’s generally what Tang Su believed.
But the premise of valuing harmony is that nobody is intentionally causing trouble.
If someone did cause trouble on purpose, she wasn’t afraid of a hassle.
With a loud smack, the people opposite banged the table with a resounding echo.
The two women, relying on their hefty size which was larger than Tang Su’s—and one of them was worth two of Tang Su; together, they could take on four Tang Sus.
"Nonsense! Our baby is the best-behaved child in the whole universe. If you had not bullied him, he would never cry. He always bullies others, never the other way around."
"Exactly, you’re talking complete nonsense. You have no manners, bringing a cat to a public space. Who knows, our baby might have been scratched by your cat, and now you have the audacity to accuse us first."
The two women coordinated perfectly, alternating in their accusations against Tang Su.
Tang Su held her temper, "Whether I’m spouting nonsense or playing the victim when I’m actually guilty, this place has surveillance. We could ask the owner to review the footage calmly and peacefully."
The chubby boy appeared to be eight or nine years old. No matter how his mother tried to comfort him, he wouldn’t stop crying. But when he heard Tang Su mention that the store had surveillance, he immediately stopped crying.
A mother always knows what her child is like. Seeing her son stop crying on command, how could she not understand?
However, when it came to educating their child, they never did it in front of others, let alone scold their son in public.
So, after wiping her son’s tears, she stood up. Facing Tang Su’s indifference, she felt no gratitude. Instead, she glanced down at the basket Tang Su used to carry the cat.
She deftly shifted the conflict.
"Miss, we advocate for civilized pet ownership, and while cats and dogs are pets, they aren’t human. You shouldn’t bring your pet cat to the amusement park so openly, and now, you let it sit openly on the table where guests eat. Isn’t that inappropriate?"
"In this amusement park, and even this restaurant, there are so many children eating and playing. We have no idea how many germs are on your cat. What if a child goes home sick? Who will be responsible?"
"You haven’t become a mother yet, right? Wait until you have your own child. Then you’ll understand what it’s like to worry over your own precious baby."
"Everyone, isn’t this true?"
The chubby boy’s mother was quite formidable. She not only criticized Tang Su for bringing her cat to a public place but also stirred up the emotions of other parents with children present.
Some parents who didn’t like pets such as cats and dogs took the opportunity to kneel down and warn their children against keeping pets, citing the danger of unknown germs that could harm their frail bodies.
Some directly echoed the sentiments of the chubby boy’s mother, pointing their fingers at Tang Su and her group.
"That’s right. The child’s mother is correct. Bringing a cat to an amusement park was wrong to begin with, and now bringing the cat into the restaurant where people eat is simply outrageous."
"Nowadays, all these pet-loving maniacs, what’s wrong with them? Young people these days don’t date, don’t get married, but treat cats and dogs like their children, letting these pets call them mom and dad. They might as well become pets themselves."
"Is there an internet influencer or blogger around? Hurry up and capture this. We need to expose the faces of these unethical people. If the law can’t punish them, let netizens pass judgment."
