Chapter 238: 207 Very Like Very Like (2 more)_1
After pressing Tang Su, the elders started worrying about Tang Feng’s lifelong happiness.
Tang Feng was 27 this year, and after the new year, he’d be 28, three years older than Tang Su.
It’s true that it’s no big deal for men to marry late, but considering he was pushing thirty, they couldn’t afford not to be anxious.
As soon as Tang Feng saw his grandparents starting to pressure him to marry, the big eyes that were watching Tang Su intently suddenly squinted, and then he pretended to sleep.
Seeing her grandson pretend to sleep out of exhaustion, Grandma Tang felt terrible, "Alright, old man, stop talking, Fengfeng is so tired. Let’s talk about this some other time."
"But it was you who started it."
"Then... let’s not talk about it now," Grandma Tang said in a stammering halt.
"Got it, if you say not to talk, then we won’t."
In the end, the driver summarized, "Your family has such a great atmosphere."
Tang Shengyi wasn’t modest in the slightest, "Master, you’re right, we don’t have major conflicts in our family. If there are bumps and bruises, no one takes them to heart. At home, it’s right not to take things too seriously, don’t you agree?"
"Yes, I really envy you."
"No need for envy, it all comes down to careful management. Elders should love the younger, and the young naturally respect the elders."
"True."
After entering the city, Tang Shengyi looked at the time, "Why don’t we just head straight to Tenghui Grand Hotel?"
"Sure," Tang Su nodded, taking out her cellphone to message Lu Han.
Lu Han said he was driving to pick up Su Ruoan and Zhao Xinlan.
Tang Su texted back okay, and told her father, "Lu Han said he’s going to pick up Mom and Godmother."
"Then it’s settled, we’ll go straight there. We’ll have some tea and crack some seeds in the private room while we wait for them. Once they arrive, we can serve the dishes and start eating."
**
At six o’clock, Tenghui Grand Hotel.
After getting out of the car, Tang Su insisted on waiting downstairs instead of going up with the others; she had previously promised Lu Han that she would wait for him at the hotel’s main entrance, and she meant to keep her word.
Seeing her insist on waiting downstairs, exposed to the wind for Lu Han, Tang Shengyi and Tang Feng, father and son, felt bad for her. Having understood the depth of his daughter’s feelings for Lu Han, Tang Shengyi didn’t persuade her to join them upstairs any longer.
Tang Feng reached out to pull her, "It’s windy downstairs, and he’s not a kid anymore. Besides, he still has to pick up both our mom and godmother. With all three together, are you worried he’ll get lost or something?"
"I’m not worried about him getting lost, but we agreed that I would wait for him here, and I need to keep my promise," Tang Su said, sticking to her own principles.
"Fine, I can’t be bothered with you." Tang Feng became speechless with her.
Tang Feng left, since his grandparents were still upstairs, and he couldn’t let his father handle everything alone.
Tang Su didn’t have to wait long; Lu Han’s car soon arrived.
From a distance, Zhao Xinlan saw Tang Su rubbing her hands, standing at the entrance and huffing warm breath, her eyes fixed on the passing vehicles.
"This girl, not seeing Lu Han for one day, look at her, she refuses to go upstairs, willing to stand in the cold. Ah, young love is truly something," Zhao Xinlan said with envy on her face.
"You could find someone too; love isn’t just for young people," Su Ruoan joked with her best friend.
Today was her fault. She had unexpectedly agreed to see two additional patients out of kindness.
Otherwise, her daughter wouldn’t have had to wait so long.
Having worked as a doctor nearly her whole life, Su Ruoan was determined to continue until retirement. She wasn’t biased towards doctors.
In her eyes, all industries are the same, with the good and the bad. It’s the law of nature; every space has its positives and negatives. It’s about whether we can prevent one bad apple from spoiling the whole bunch.
She dedicated herself to her duties, doing what she should as a doctor. She hoped that when criticizing those unscrupulous doctors, people wouldn’t lump all medical workers together.
After doing her part, she also tried not to accept the banners of gratitude that patients offered. If there were some she couldn’t refuse, she’d accept them but not display them.
"Then why don’t you look for someone?" Zhao Xinlan shot back.
"Me? Haven’t I been dating?" Su Ruoan didn’t mean to twist Zhao Xinlan’s heart; she genuinely wanted to encourage her to pick herself up sooner.
She was worried that once they all left, Jiang Tao would definitely take the opportunity to meet with Zhao Xinlan while her family was away, trying to persuade her not to divorce.
"Stop flaunting your love in front of me. Murderous and heartbreaking—that’s no less than what you’re doing. Is your heart made of steel?" Zhao Xinlan pouted, expressing her displeasure.
"Made of tofu." Su Ruoan, arm in arm with Zhao Xinlan, walked toward the entrance of the hotel.
When Tang Su raced over, neither of them presumed to reach out and hug her, fully aware that all of her enthusiasm was directed at Lu Han behind them.
So, better not to make things awkward.
Lu Han locked the car door, turned around, and stretched out his arms. Tang Su fluttered into his embrace like a butterfly.
"I’ve missed you, Lu Han." Tang Su buried herself deeply in his embrace, speaking in a muffled voice.
"Me too." Lu Han deeply reciprocated Tang Su’s passionate declaration.
Lu Han held her tight, for a moment wishing he could meld her into his body.
Lu Han quickly noticed her hand was cold as ice. He took it in his own, vigorously rubbing it to warm her up.
In this season, a man’s body generally warms up faster than a woman’s. With Lu Han’s earnest rubbing, Tang Su’s hand gradually began to feel warm and tender.
Lu Han held her close, and with one arm around her, he followed in the footsteps of Su Ruoan and the others.
Once inside the hotel, Lu Han asked, "Where are your grandparents staying tonight? Is it all arranged?"
"Yeah, they’ll sort it out, no need to worry."
"I heard from aunty and godmother that they usually stay in a hotel."
"Yeah, the house is too small. My dad has always been talking about getting a bigger place, but my mom disagreed, so he bought me a set to live in."
"It would indeed be idle otherwise, no need for that. Or, your aunty might have other plans. Your grandparents can stay at my place tonight."
"That would be too much trouble." Tang Su instinctively didn’t want to cause any inconvenience for Lu Han, plus staying in a hotel was quite alright.
"How is it any trouble? Ms. Tang, may I ask who you are inconveniencing?"
"Lu Han, why are you so nice?"
"As long as you think it’s nice." Just before exiting the elevator, Lu Han swiftly planted a quick kiss on Tang Su’s face—he hadn’t gotten enough downstairs.
Ding—
The elevator door opened, and Tang Feng was standing outside, "I thought you two had already headed home."
Seeing them, Tang Feng uttered his sarcastic jibe.
"Why would we head home? Want to hog all the delicacies to yourself? I just won’t let you get your way," Tang Su hummed, pulling Lu Han by the hand to leave.
"You..." Tang Feng was helpless against Tang Su’s unusual reasoning.
Lu Han’s lips curled slightly. He knew Tang Feng was making fun of them for lingering downstairs too long after only a day apart.
He didn’t bother to explain, only silently replying in his mind: Aspiring uncle-in-law, once you find a girlfriend you really, really like, you’ll understand how we feel now.
