Song Xiaoyue leaned into Lady Song’s arms, staring blankly at Ye Ge as he methodically went about his work. She was struck by his tall physique, commanding presence and restrained yet evident power.

It wasn’t until now that Lady Song noticed the look in her daughter’s eyes. She waved her hand in front of Song Xiaoyue, but her daughter absentmindedly pushed it away, seemingly annoyed.

It wasn’t until Ye Ge’s tall figure disappeared from sight that Song Xiaoyue came back to her senses.

Her mind was filled with the scene of Ye Ge single-handedly taking down multiple men on the mountain, as well as his final chilly and stern gaze. Whenever she thought about it, Song Xiaoyue subconsciously held her cheek and thought of Ye Ge.

She was a young lady from a governmental official’s family with a rather carefree mother, so she was used to being worldly-wise. Since she reached teenager and knew girls were to get married, she started fantasizing about what her future husband might look like, yet not many men could catch her attention.

As a mother, Lady Song understood her daughter’s feelings the best. Seeing her daughter’s distress left her profoundly worried. Again, she reminded Song Xiaoyue not to harbor feelings for Ye Ge and told her that he perhaps harbored deep affection for his future wife. A woman should find a man who treasured her; otherwise, she would end up unloved like Miss Song.

Lady Song had initially thought she would feel jealous when her husband took a concubine, but she ended up feeling sympathy for the woman. Sometimes, she even urged her husband to spend more time with her.
