Chapter 329: Chapter 330: Falling in Love (Part 4)_1
Seeing the situation, Song Xiaoyue was terrified, believing that her mother would be killed by the evildoers. Just then, she saw the dagger in Ye-ge’s hand flying out, instantly knocking the dagger out of the evildoer’s hand. With a swift kick, the assailant was sent flying, knocked unconscious by the nearby rocks.
Ye-ge initially did not know who this group was, so he did not exert his full Kung Fu strength, focusing only on protecting Madame Song. However, once he noticed the evildoers’ deadly moves seemingly intended to kill him, and that someone was attacking Madame Song, Ye-ge showed no mercy. His movements quickened as he disarmed one of the evildoers and set foot on the rocks.
Song Xiaoyue did not see Ye-ge’s swift actions clearly. She only saw a dark figure darting rapidly among the rocks and heard the sounds of knives stabbing into flesh. By the time the figure descended from one of the rocks, several black-clad men fell to the ground.
The wind from the mountain brought a stench of blood, and Ye-ge looked incredibly ruthless.
Just as Ye-ge landed, Song Xiaoyue was suddenly stunned.
Her heart seemed to be taken away in that instant.
...
After such a dangerous encounter, they certainly could not go to the Jade Buddha Temple anymore. After safely escorting them down the mountain, Ye-ge hastily headed back to the Yamen aboard the horse cart. All the way, Song Xiaoyue glanced at Ye-ge’s tall and steady figure, her eyes filled with infatuation.
She thought to herself, "Perhaps the Jade Buddha Temple is truly effective. See, even before the arrival at the temple, I have fallen for a man. So, what would happen if I actually made it there?"
Madame Song was despondent throughout the journey. In her youth, she had learned some martial art skills and often sparred with her elder brother whom she always managed to outwit. After marrying County Magistrate Song, there were always guards at her service. Although they changed over the years, they had sparred with Madame Song and were defeated every time.
Madame Song always considered herself to be an unbeatable beauty, but to her surprise, she couldn’t even defeat a petty thief today. Could it be that the people in the past were just letting her win?
Ye-ge drove the horse carriage to the house of County Magistrate Song, and then helped Madame Song and her daughter alight.
"Guard Xia, where did you learn such skills? Would you teach me someday?" Madame Song said to Ye-ge as she was alighting.
Unexpectedly, Ye-ge did not give Madame Song face, "If Madame wishes to learn Kung Fu, you can speak to the soldier sergeant. They have daily morning practices."
"..." Madame Song felt that Ye-ge might be looking down on her Kung Fu skills, making her feel even more downcast.
After helping Madame Song alight, Ye-ge then helped Song Xiaoyue.
Noticing Song Xiaoyue’s timid demeanor, Ye-ge speculated that she might have been scared by the mountain bandits, so he reassured her, "Miss need not worry, we are now in the backyard of the Yamen, which is very secured. You will be fine here."
Song Xiaoyue then extended her hand to Ye-ge. She felt his palm was broad and rough; calloused from years of Kung Fu training, this thick layer of calluses gave her a sense of security instead.
As she stepped down from the horse carriage, Song Xiaoyue, feigning a ’weak leg’, lost her balance and fell into Ye-ge’s arms. Luckily, Ye-ge caught her in time.
Song Xiaoyue said, "I apologize Guard Xia, I didn’t do it intentionally."
While helping Song Xiaoyue to Madame Song, Ye-ge responded, "No problem, Miss. Please, take care."
Just then, one of Ye-ge’s subordinates, Liu Niannian, happened to pass by. Ye-ge called him over, ordering him to lead a team up the mountain to investigate the identity of the gang.
