Pampered By My Fake Boyfriend's Brother -
Chapter 257 Expressing Apologies
Chapter 257: Chapter 257 Expressing Apologies
"She is my friend."
The man’s voice was thunderous, startling An Yin who trembled all over and answered obediently.
"Seeing them together, what do you think?" Bao Shaojin’s cold eyes slightly narrowed, sparing no expression on the little girl’s face.
"I..." An Yin struggled to utter a word, the man’s sharp eyes like icy daggers on her face, she feared saying something wrong, anxious and frightened, entirely oblivious to the fact that the two of them were facing each other closely, and his breath, as he spoke, surrounded her forehead, making her momentarily dizzy.
"Speak."
"If I tell you, I have no thoughts, do, do you believe me?"
The look in the man’s eyes seemed to want to kill her.
Perhaps it was her expression that was too innocent, and her eyes too clear, completely unlike lying, Bao Shaojin’s face grew even gloomier.
"You’re not angry?"
Not angry. An Yin wanted to say, but meeting the man’s angry dark eyes, she cautiously opened her mouth, "Angry." As Bao Cheng’s "girlfriend", she should indeed be angry.
Her reluctant answer left Bao Shaojin fuming.
An Yin pursed her lips, pitifully looking at the man. Was there a flaw in her answer? She thought of those idol dramas she watched, where when the girl saw her man and her best friend having an affair, she would often react tearfully, hysterically, with some impulsive women even confronting the cheating couple face to face.
An Yin quickly stopped imagining, not to mention she and Bao Cheng weren’t really boyfriend and girlfriend, just by her nature, she couldn’t do such bold things.
"What are you planning to do next?"
Though the young girl seemed a bit off, Bao Shaojin still asked the question he had long thought of.
"I, I don’t know." An Yin timidly avoided the man’s gaze.
Her skin was fair and delicate, and with the man’s lack of control over his strength, soon a red mark appeared on her chin.
The ever-observant Bao Shaojin noticed this, his face grew harsher, and he finally withdrew his hand.
Freed, An Yin quickly covered her chin with her hand, gently rubbing it. When she wanted to move further away from the man, she found herself trapped between him and the large glass screen, unable to move.
"Don’t know." Bao Shaojin repeated her words, then sneered coldly, his tone seemingly self-deprecating.
What on earth did that kid Bao Cheng have that made the little girl follow him so devotedly?
In places An Yin couldn’t see, the veins in Bao Shaojin’s hands bulged, his dark eyes deep, hinting at a near-pathological obsession.
The man’s condescending gaze put An Yin under immense pressure, especially with his current expression, like the icy cold of the Antarctic, making anyone close feel a chill.
An Yin had an illusion, feeling as though the man might hit her the next second.
Time seemed to stand still at that moment.
Bao Shaojin suppressed the undercurrent within him.
As he looked at An Yin, her face showed a faint sense of helplessness, her bright eyes like crescent moons, shining with stunning light, clear and captivating. The little girl stood gracefully, petite like a blooming white lotus, untouched by specks of dust.
Yet...
Yet this beautiful girl was blind to fall for that punk Bao Cheng.
Knowing full well the other was unfaithful, yet unwilling to let go, should she be called stupid? Or foolish?
Bao Shaojin exhaled a turbid breath, looking at her with a hatred for iron not becoming steel.
"Bao Shaojin, I want to leave here." An Yin mustered her courage and stammered.
Her head lowered, Bao Shaojin could only see her dark hair, the ends scattered on her shoulders, his breath deepened, a trace of grimness fleeting across his unwavering face.
He stepped back a little.
An Yin seized the opportunity to dash out through the gap, only after gaining some distance did she turn her head to glance back.
The man remained standing in place; his expression calm, revealing no emotion. When he stood there solitary and still, a sense of lonely desolation emanated from him.
An Yin hesitated for a moment, thinking she must have been mistaken.
A few seconds of hesitation later, she said, "Let’s go."
Bao Shaojin’s back stiffened, he gazed at her for a moment, his gloom gradually fading, replaced by coldness.
"Yes." His voice was slightly restrained.
At that moment, the air seemed to freeze, their personal concerns overshadowing the fragrant romantic atmosphere as they walked out of the box.
An Yin saw the attendant about to speak, but Bao Shaojin already discerned her thoughts.
"The bill is settled."
An Yin swallowed her words and instead looked at the man, "Didn’t we agree that I would treat you?"
"Bao Cheng owes you a debt; as his cousin, let this meal be my token of apology." Bao Shaojin said with solemnity.
An Yin was at a loss for words.
As they spoke, the two were already downstairs, following the manager to the exclusive elevator.
Assistant Lin quietly followed behind them. For some reason, ever since Mr. Bao came out of the box, there was a biting cold air about him. Having followed him for so many years, Assistant Lin was highly adept at reading cues.
Recalling what Mr. Bao had instructed earlier, a lightbulb went off in Assistant Lin’s head.
So even knowing Bao Cheng had brought someone else for a meal at a couples’ restaurant, Mr. Bao still brought Miss An here just to let her see her boyfriend for what he really was?
Seeing her boyfriend’s infidelity firsthand, what girl could tolerate it?
Although he felt Mr. Bao’s way was a bit extreme, Assistant Lin still couldn’t help but feel a bit anxious for Miss An. Caught by Mr. Bao, Miss An was like a beast trapped in a cage, with no chance to escape.
Reaching the elevator, the manager tactfully withdrew.
Assistant Lin stood in the corner, trying his best to reduce his presence.
Since leaving the restaurant, An Yin had kept her head down.
Bao Shaojin stood straight, his pale lips slightly pulled into a detached line, exuding a sense of aloofness.
Bao Shaojin’s deep gaze fell on her. The young girl’s hair was dark and shiny, like a flowing black waterfall, spreading over her shoulders, adding to her ethereal aura.
Since they left the restaurant, she hadn’t said a word, her petite form with head bowed. Bao Shaojin couldn’t see her exquisite face, so he couldn’t guess what she was thinking.
Perhaps, the timid and bashful girl was crying atm?
Thinking that she might be shedding tears for someone else, Bao Shaojin’s breath tightened, and the gaze he had on her became colder.
"Hold your head up while walking," Bao Shaojin said deeply.
He wanted to know if the young girl had actually been crying.
"Got it."
An Yin slowly raised her head, allowing her beautifully refined face to fall into Bao Shaojin’s view.
She hadn’t been crying!
This overturned Bao Shaojin’s understanding.
Or did she plan to find a quiet place to hide and cry? This thought emerging, Bao Shaojin fixed his gaze on her like she was an inanimate object.
