Chapter 248: Chapter 248: I’ve Taken a Fancy to You

Shen Jingrou followed his gaze to his wrist, where both of her hands were clutching the man, wrinkling his white shirt slightly.

Lin Yue’s eyes were burning, prompting Shen Jingrou to slowly release her hands, murmuring, "I’m sorry." Then, with a guilty conscience, she placed her hands on either side and lowered her head as much as possible.

It was rare for her to feel guilty, and Lin Yue could only see the top of her head, her black hair cascading over her shoulders with some smooth strands flowing on her back, scattered and rippling as if swaying in his heart.

"Why are you still standing there foolishly? Let’s go." Lin Yue took a step forward, noticing she didn’t move and staring at her intently.

"You’re the foolish one," Shen Jingrou muttered, then bypassed the man and walked outside.

Lin Yue watched her indulgently, although she spoke very quietly, he heard every word.

After taking the dedicated elevator down, they arrived at the bar.

The attendant at the front desk respectfully approached upon seeing the two, "Mr. Lin, Miss Shen!"

"The usual place." Lin Yue said shortly.

The attendant nodded, "Mr. Lin, please follow me."

The bar’s decor leaned towards warmer tones, and from the entrance, there were scattered patrons drinking at the central bar, with high tables around for dining and entertainment.

In front of the stage, a woman was softly singing a love song. Her singing was either melodious or high-pitched, well-controlled, causing the audience below to experience waves of emotional highs and lows with her song.

Walking in front, Shen Jingrou slowed her steps through the hall, captivated by the woman’s voice, her gaze irresistibly drawn to the singer.

"What, want to listen to music here?" Lin Yue asked, seeing her pause.

"She’s pretty good." Shen Jingrou commented while watching the singer.

"Arrange two seats with a better view here in the hall today." Lin Ye instructed the nearby attendant.

"Alright, Mr. Lin." The attendant nodded, then whispered a few words into his walkie-talkie.

"Mr. Lin, this way please!" The attendant led the way.

Lin Yue glanced at Shen Jingrou, "Follow along."

The seats arranged by the attendant were on the side. After they sat down, an attendant brought over fruit platters, desserts, and strong liquor.

These were all things Shen Jingrou loved to eat, indicating that they frequented the place quite often.

The hall was dimly lit with a hazy yellow glow, but a spotlight shone onto the singing woman on stage. She wore a white spaghetti-strap dress that reached her knees, her fair shoulders and calves making her stand out, and importantly, she was fairly pretty, looking quite young.

After a song ended, everyone applauded, and even Shen Jingrou clapped a few times.

Lin Yue appeared indifferent; he didn’t even glance at the woman on stage, but noticing Shen Jingrou’s rare interest, he waved to the attendant beside him.

The attendant approached and bent down.

Facing Lin Yue, Shen Jingrou looked at him in confusion, wondering what trick he was playing and if it was necessary to do so behind her back.

Lin Yue whispered a few words and the attendant left.

"What mischief are you up to now?" Shen Jingrou’s eyes narrowed slightly at him.

"Can’t you think a little better of me?" Lin Yue retorted.

Shen Jingrou opened her mouth to say something but, contemplating the man’s previously downcast look, ultimately refrained from sparring with him.

After the woman on stage exited, a romantic and soothing melody began to play in the air.

Lin Yue looked at the glass on the table, picked it up, and took a gulp.

Seeing him drink so urgently further confirmed Shen Jingrou’s suspicion that he was indeed in a bad mood.

Since he was her daughter’s uncle, Shen Jingrou felt obliged to counsel him, "Don’t drink so fast."

The spicy sensation in his throat hadn’t dispersed when Lin Yue heard her gentle words, and a complex emotion stirred in his eyes. Ignoring her advice, he downed the remaining contents of the glass in one go.

Seeing that he remained unmoved, Shen Jingrou didn’t bother to persuade further.

Just then, the attendant led over the woman who had just been singing on stage, and they stopped in front of their table.

"Mr. Lin, Miss Huang said she wanted to thank you personally for your tip." The attendant appeared slightly troubled, knowing Mr. Lin disliked intrusions from outsiders, but Miss Huang was adamant about thanking him personally. The attendant risked unemployment by approaching Lin Yue since Miss Huang offered to split the tip money with him if he succeeded.

Both Lin Ye and Shen Jingrou looked at the woman.

It was the singer from the stage, whom Shen Jingrou recognized immediately, and she surmised that Lin Yue’s rampant charm was at play, perhaps ready to flirt with someone new.

Lin Yue sat calmly, silently placing his glass on the glass table.

The attendant felt a wave of anxiousness at Mr. Lin’s silence.

At this moment, the woman stepped forward respectfully, her head bowed, and in a crisp voice said, "Mr. Lin, the amount you tipped is too generous for me. I wanted to express my gratitude to you in person."

"Thank you, Mr. Lin!" she said, bowing.

Lin Yue slowly raised his head, "Hmm."

Seeing Lin Yue’s icy demeanor, Shen Jingrou was puzzled. Could Lin Yue be playing hard to get, waiting for someone to make the first move?

Otherwise, given Lin Yue’s reputation, why would he pass up a beautiful woman offering herself?

"Mr. Lin, what song would you like to hear?" the woman asked tentatively.

Lin Yue didn’t answer but instead looked at Shen Jingrou, "So, what do you want to hear?"

Shen Jingrou raised her eyes, noticing the woman looking at her, and awkwardly glared at Lin Yue, gritting her teeth, "Lin Yue, she was asking you."

"If you don’t say, just let her wait there." Lin Yue picked up another glass, the golden light from it reflecting, causing the liquor inside to sway.

The woman then looked pitifully at Shen Jingrou, her eyes showing a hint of grievance.

Lin Yue’s temper was unpredictable, and Shen Jingrou didn’t want to trouble others. She smiled at the woman, "Hello, we’d like to request ’Because of Love.’"

"Okay." The woman returned a slight smile and looked over at Lin Yue, seeing that he was not even sparing her a glance, her eyes showed a tinge of disappointment, and she reluctantly retreated.

The woman returned to the stage, sitting on a high stool.

"Good evening everyone, I am Huang Yiyi, and this song ’Because of Love’ is dedicated to Mr. Lin!" As Huang Yiyi spoke, she gazed in Lin Yue’s direction.

Her eyes seemed to draw out an invisible thread, filled with tenderness.

Shen Jingrou averted her gaze and looked at the man who had been drinking nonstop, "She has a thing for you." Shen Jingrou stated with certainty.

Women’s intuition is quite accurate.

Huang Yiyi, what a pleasant-sounding name, with a sweet and clean face. Based on her understanding of Lin Yue, she felt that Huang Yiyi didn’t stand much of a chance since he liked women with more curves.
