Chapter 243 Sister is Sick

Chapter 243: Chapter 243 Sister is Sick

"Lao Hu, you go down and keep an eye on her." Madam Su glanced at the driver in the front seat.

"Understood, Madam." Receiving the order, Lao Hu opened the car door and merged into the crowd.

Faced with her younger sister’s arrangement, Xu Ming showed no reaction. Leaning against the seat cushion, her protruding cheekbones made her face appear gaunt and frightening.

Madam Su looked at her sister’s indifferent demeanor and tentatively spoke, "Sister, what if one day she actively seeks out your husband?"

Being prepared for all eventualities, Madam Su never fought battles without preparation.

"She won’t." Xu Ming opened her clear eyes and said flatly.

"Why are you so sure?" Madam Su asked puzzledly.

"That woman..." Xu Ming seemed to think of something, her eyelids drooping, a wave of desolate sorrow arising, "Anyway, as far as I understand her, she will never actively seek out Heming."

With her sister’s words, Madam Su felt slightly reassured.

An hour later, the two people in the car saw An Ying walk out from the alley, followed closely by Lao Hu, who walked amongst the crowd, head lowered, indistinguishable from any tourist.

The sisters watched An Ying walk along the street until she disappeared from sight.

Lao Hu got into the car, barely catching his breath.

"Lao Hu, tell us what you saw." Madam Su couldn’t wait to ask.

"Madam, An..." Lao Hu had only said one word "An" when he received a sharp glance, quickly correcting himself, "She went straight to the end of the alley, found a stone block in the corner to sit on, then just sat there dazed for a long time before getting up to leave."

Lao Hu described everything he had seen.

"Hmph, does she think someone from the Residence will notice her?" Madam Su said angrily.

Lao Hu interjected, "The spot she sat in was very hidden, it would be hard for anyone from the An Residence to notice her."

"I didn’t ask for your opinion, when did I mention the ’An Residence’?" Hearing those words now put Madam Su in a foul mood.

Lao Hu lowered his head, "I misspoke, Madam."

Though everyone knew the residence Madam Su referred to was indeed the "An Residence," she simply didn’t want to hear those words.

"Let’s go." Xu Ming extended her index finger, gently pressing her head until the headache eased slightly, then let go.

"Sister, are you feeling unwell?" Madam Su noticed her sister’s weary complexion and asked, concerned.

Her sister had an illness, and it was nothing to take lightly!

What frightened Madam Su most was that taking her sister out was her own idea, without the Meng family’s consent.

"A little." Xu Ming exhaled, leaning weakly against her sister’s shoulder.

"Then let’s head back quickly." Madam Su was slightly panicked.

Lao Hu fastened his seatbelt and started the car.

The Meng Residence is located in the city’s most valuable area, each villa occupying large plots of land.

Before Lao Hu’s car could enter the villa district, a security guard stopped them. It wasn’t until Xu Ming lowered the window and the guard recognized her that they were allowed to proceed.

After a winding asphalt road, the car stopped in front of the Meng Residence. Soon, an auntie came out. Upon seeing Xu Ming, the auntie approached with relief, supporting her with concern, "Madam, the Young Master called to ask about you earlier. I couldn’t hide it; he already knows you and Madam Su went out."

"Hmm." Xu Ming didn’t care much.

Getting out of the car, Madam Su felt startled by the maid’s words.

Her nephew had always been distant with her; moreover, there was always a cold detachment. Every interaction with him left her feeling an inexplicable pressure.

"Sister, I just realized there’s something I need to handle at home, so I’ll head back first." Madam Su wanted to avoid encountering Meng Sihan, so decided to leave early. After all, her goal for the day was completed, and her sister had seen An Ying with her own eyes.

"Alright." Xu Ming did not press her to stay.

With the auntie’s assistance, Xu Ming watched her sister’s car leave, standing quietly with a slightly empty gaze.

The auntie beside her did not rush her, having studied nursing and been informed about the Madam’s condition when hired, she was exceptionally patient in her care.

On the road.

Lao Hu held the steering wheel, hesitating to speak as he watched the traffic.

Madam Su’s mind kept replaying the scene of spotting An Ying, and every time she thought of it, a surge of hatred welled up inside her.

"Madam." Lao Hu finally spoke from the front seat.

His words interrupted her thoughts, and she lifted her eyelids slightly, a hint of annoyance passing over her face, "If you have something to say, just say it. No need to beat around the bush with me."

"You seemed overly agitated today." Lao Hu reminded her. After saying this, silence filled the car.

Madam Su’s heart raced, her complexion turning slightly pale, appearing quite startled.

Lao Hu’s veiled accusation likely only she understood.

Too agitated?

Logically, the person who should have reacted the most upon seeing An Ying was her sister.

Her actions today seemed to overshadow the main event, and she wondered whether her sister would read too much into her behavior, her gaze carrying a metaphorical message as she stared at the driver.

"Lao Hu, have you noticed something?" Madam Su held her breath and asked.

Lao Hu frowned deeply, the wrinkles on his forehead evident. Having served as the Su family’s driver for years, he’d made quite a bit of money but also endured substantial pressure.

"I just think it’s the Meng family’s business, and Madam doesn’t need to concern herself too much." Lao Hu spoke solemnly.

Madam Su stared at his profile, her eyes flickering with hidden light. After a while, she smiled, her tone both comforting and threatening, "Lao Hu, I haven’t treated you poorly over the years, have I?"

"Madam has treated me well," Lao Hu stated honestly.

"In that case, you should know what to say and what to take to the grave, right?" Madam Su’s smile masked a fierce glint in her eyes.

"I understand." Lao Hu replied.

Seeing this, Madam Su said no more; after all, he was just a servant, incapable of causing any real trouble. However, the words Lao Hu had mentioned lingered in her heart, unsettling her.

If even Lao Hu noticed these traces, then her sister, who grew up with her, would surely know her just as well, if not better. Perhaps... her sister had noticed too?

Madam Su tightly clutched the expensive handbag on the seat to quell her inner panic.

The long-buried secret must not be discovered by anyone, absolutely not.

Outside the car window, trees by the roadside swayed as a chilling wind suddenly rose, and looking up, a cluster of dense clouds gathered in the sky.
