Chapter 599: Chapter 441: Hoarding Thousands upon Thousands for Natural Disasters, Raising a Child, I Let It Go 29_3
Having someone by her side to help care for the baby and cook delicious meals and brew tasty soups was a blessing.
With the System Newbie Gift Package to help her body recover, she spent her days leisurely reading and researching the national secret documents that Grandfather Wen and Grandmother Wen had brought.
After all, opportunities to access such materials were rare. Su Zhiruan, faced with skills or fields she had never encountered before, couldn’t help but study them. She had an advantage over others: she could travel to different Small Worlds, carrying her memories and the skills she had learned, and continue exploring and learning.
What she learned firsthand was the real deal.
Little Xiangsheng had fallen asleep, and Wen Qingyu gently placed him back in the crib.
“Ruanruan has changed too,” he said, sitting on the edge of the bed, taking her wrist in his hand, his eyes tender, “You smell good.”
Following his gaze toward herself, Su Zhiruan set aside the documents with her other hand and lightly patted Wen Qingyu, “Indeed, after having a child.”
“Some say that having children is when marriage truly begins. A wedding is just the opening ceremony,” Su Zhiruan said, looking at the child, a calm smile in her eyes, “Mr. Wen, from now on, we truly have responsibilities.”
“Ruanruan, words are not needed; I will take action to take care of you and our child,” he replied.
Looking at him, Su Zhiruan suddenly felt incredibly relaxed; her voice softened as she leaned on Wen Qingyu’s shoulder, “Good.”
In the following month, everyone continued to diligently care for Su Zhiruan and Little Xiangsheng.
Newborns grow incredibly fast, changing by the day. Whether it was the three aunties, Wen Qingyu, or Grandmother Wen, all were amazed, expressing their astonishment daily.
After becoming a great-grandfather, Grandfather Wen put down his work and devoted his days to preparing alphabet cards and picture books, creating various children’s and educational books.
Both he and Grandmother Wen came from scholarly families; creating educational materials came naturally to them.
Grandfather Wen even began preparing a set of memoirs.
Planning to write about everything from before Little Xiangsheng was born, including how Su Zhiruan and Wen Qingyu chose his name and its meaning, to the detailed specific time of birth, and everyone’s reactions and expressions at the time.
Overall, although it was the time of the Catastrophe Apocalypse, Little Xiangsheng was destined to be raised in love from the moment he was born.
Su Zhiruan recovered well; the base had accumulated quite a bit of work, which she began tackling after the postpartum period.
With the temperature too high, Little Xiangsheng’s clothing was reduced during his second month as wearing too much could easily lead to heat rash and eczema.
Su Zhiruan often played rhythmic children’s songs for him, amusing him with a rattle.
Like a little propane tank, Xiangsheng’s eyes were round, his hands waving in the air, kicking his feet occasionally, and his head gently shaking. Sometimes, he would follow Su Zhiruan with his eyes; other times, he would quietly watch his surroundings.
His dark, long eyelashes fluttered, flashing a smile every now and then, adorable and tender-skinned.
“What’s that expression?” Wen Qingyu watched Little Xiangsheng, who suddenly lifted his head, so he reached out a finger. The next second, his finger was grasped by tiny little hands. “He sleeps less now. When will Little Xiangsheng grow up?”
“A big chubby boy of eleven and a half pounds,” Su Zhiruan said, supporting her chin as she watched Wen Qingyu play with the child, her heart melting.
Babies grow fast, changing daily; her innate maternal love made her want to snuggle with this milky little fellow every day.
Little Xiangsheng was exactly what the older generations adored, a grandchild model. With Wen Qingyu’s good looks, and her being quite attractive herself, their child was bound to be handsome.
The sticky little bun was as close to her heart as when he was in her belly, even though he needed night feedings. After feeding, he would sleep quietly, not fussing much or crying loudly.
This celestial baby made the three aunties exclaim he was an angel.
Little Xiangsheng was friendly. Sometimes when he saw people, he would smile and grab their fingers with his little feet moving under the blanket, which he would kick off if covered. Covered again, he would just laugh and kick it off again.
Grandmother Wen and Grandfather Wen had become permanent guests in Su Zhiruan’s home, both being from scholarly families, always insisting on telling stories to Little Xiangsheng, who listened seriously.
Grandfather Wen and Grandmother Wen treated Xiangsheng like a treasure, even preparing a longevity lock and a pair of silver bracelets for him. The toothless little guy just stared at his shiny bracelets with his grape-like black eyes, his smile sticky and sweet.
This little fellow had become the entire base’s darling!
