Overlord: Welcoming the Birth of the King -
Chapter 65: Useful for Disposing Corpses, Departure
Agu secretly glanced at Tang Zheng and felt a heavy weight lift from his chest when he saw the smile on the human's face. This powerful human seemed satisfied with his answers and had even accepted their gifts. Perhaps this time they could not only rescue Big Brother Muto but also establish a connection with this formidable human!
At this thought, Agu couldn't help feeling pleased, once again satisfied with his decision to seek out humans. His tribal companions were too foolish - cowardly creatures who only wanted to rely on those Ogre Lords who treated them as backup food.
Clang!
"You've provided quite useful information. Thank you for your trouble." Tang Zheng showed a contemplative expression as he lightly tapped the blade of his iron sword. "So, what reward should I give you?"
As this thought crossed his mind...
"Great one, Agu needs no reward!" Agu's voice trembled with suppressed excitement. "Just sparing Big Brother Muto would be enough."
Saying this, Agu slightly raised his head, his gaze falling upon the ping-pong ball sized tribal treasure wrapped around Tang Zheng's wrist.
"If the great one could return our tribal treasure, our Jike Tribe would be willing to assist in investigating all matters regarding the Ogre Lords." Agu's voice grew tense as he cautiously made this request.
"Hahaha." Tang Zheng laughed, his expression growing even more gentle as he smiled at Agu. "What an excellent proposal."
"I've already decided on your reward."At these words, Agu and the two other large goblins showed surprised delight on their faces. They never expected such unexpected generosity just for answering a few questions.
"Though using a fourth-tier spell might be wasteful, I do need to test its power." Tang Zheng smiled as he raised his palm toward the empty air ahead.
If the "Heat" spell could increase the temperature of contacted objects, then surely it could heat air as well!
The three kneeling large goblins raised their heads excitedly, but seeing Tang Zheng's empty palm facing them, confusion appeared on their faces.
It was then that Agu suddenly realized something - his joyful expression instantly twisted into terror as he opened his mouth to speak.
But in the next instant!
"Heat."
Tang Zheng uttered two words.
Hum—
Centered around the air contacting his palm, the fourth-tier "Heat" spell instantly raised the temperature to 400 degrees. A red glow flashed through the air.
The previously comfortable forest air surrounding the three large goblins became scalding hot in an instant!
Agu opened his mouth to scream, but the blistering hot air rushed in, instantly searing his vocal cords and throat! The suffocating sensation made Agu dizzy, and soon even the pain seemed to disappear!
The dark green skin of all three goblins first swelled, turning crimson as their blood boiled and blood vessels ruptured.

[Experience gained: 63]
[Experience gauge: 180/10000]
White hot steam erupted from their skin as their bodies began shrinking. The "Heat" spell was continuous - after the instantaneous temperature rise to 300 degrees, it would keep increasing up to 1200 degrees.
Thus!
The already desiccated corpses of Agu and the other two large goblins visibly developed hair-thin fiery red patterns across their surfaces.
At this moment!
Tang Zheng felt a sudden burn on his cheek and quickly canceled the spell, stepping back.
The superheated air expanded outward as scorching waves, instantly causing surrounding leaves and bushes to curl and turn brown.
Inhaling the wave of heat, even Tang Zheng found breathing difficult as his nasal passages stung.
Though the spell had been aimed at the three large goblins, the heated air's expansion naturally affected Tang Zheng as the caster. The "Heat" spell clearly didn't discriminate between friend and foe!
"Tsk, seems this spell can't be used casually." Tang Zheng pinched his stinging nose and glanced at the three goblin corpses that hadn't even had time to scream before becoming mummified.
Then he examined his own burning, stinging palm.
"Even the caster gets affected. It's definitely different from normal tiered magic."
"Fortunately it's only fourth-tier. Any higher and it wouldn't just be a burning sensation." The thought of casting this spell at higher tiers, where even the caster would be endangered by the terrifying heat, made Tang Zheng's scalp tingle.
"Unless I gain fire resistance or complete fire immunity, this spell becomes more impractical the higher its tier." This thought flashed through Tang Zheng's mind.
Behind him...
"A-Agu..." Large Goblin Muto looked at Agu's desiccated corpse, face full of terror, voice trembling.
He never imagined that Tang Zheng, who had seemed so reasonable and friendly moments ago, would kill Agu and the others so suddenly.
Crack!
A small branch snapped underfoot.
Tang Zheng turned to face the stunned, terrified Muto and smiled casually. "Since you two were so close, you should join them."
Gulp.
Muto's entire body trembled as his throat worked, a foul odor rising from his lower body.
"You...you lied..."
"You promised!" Muto screamed in terror, twisting his upper body as he clawed at the ground, desperately trying to crawl away.
"Don't kill me!"
"I'm still useful! I know locations of many inferior goblin tribes!"
"Human! You promised! You promised!" The terror of death made Muto shriek uncontrollably.
Tang Zheng calmly stepped forward toward the frantically crawling goblin.
"The premise of a deal is equality between both parties. If one side is too weak, they'll just get devoured by the other."
"This principle is the same as your 'law of the jungle.' You don't understand, but that large goblin Agu probably did."
"Except...he trusted his own cleverness too much. Humans aren't like Ogre Lords." Tang Zheng spoke flatly as he raised his iron sword.
Hmm?
Tang Zheng's gaze shifted to rustling bushes ahead.
Rustle rustle!
The small hellhound squeezed out from the bushes, blocking Muto's path.
"Grrr!" The pup shook its head, black eyes glancing at the terrified Muto before looking back at Tang Zheng. After a brief pause, it immediately put on a fierce face and growled at the large goblin.
Tang Zheng looked surprised.
He hadn't expected this little hellhound to be so persistent in following them. An intrigued expression appeared on his face.
"How about you finish him off for me?" Tang Zheng lowered his sword as he spoke to the pup.
"Growl!" The hellhound's black eyes lit up as its bone chains clinked, immediately pouncing at Muto.
Thud!
"Get away!!" Muto slapped the attacking hellhound aside in panic and kept crawling outward.
Despite his broken legs and injuries, Muto's dual-class status made him more than a match for the young hellhound.
"Yelp!" The pup painfully got up, shook its head, and charged again.
This time however, it didn't attack head-on but circled to bite at Muto's broken legs.
Soon, screams and howls filled the air.
Moments later.
With a "crack," Muto's neck was snapped when he failed to notice the hellhound's attack.
"Fear and cowardice really run deep in the goblin race." Tang Zheng shook his head at how quickly Muto had been killed.
Given Muto's strength, killing the young hellhound shouldn't have been difficult. But overwhelmed by fear of death, he couldn't respond properly.
"Whine." The battered hellhound's black fur was stained with blood - all Muto's. Even as a juvenile, this magical creature displayed remarkable stamina and endurance.
Gurgle gurgle~
The pup's flattened belly growled loudly.
"Whimper." It looked up at Tang Zheng with pleading eyes.
"I believe hellhounds are omnivorous magical creatures?" Tang Zheng glanced at the pup before pointing at Muto's corpse.
The hellhound's black eyes gleamed as it unceremoniously began devouring Muto's body.
To Tang Zheng's surprise, the pup managed to completely consume the large goblin corpse - over twice its size - leaving its previously shrunken belly now round and full.
"Such an appetite? Could be useful for corpse disposal." Tang Zheng mused as he watched the hellhound sit there - its naturally fierce appearance belied by the pitiful look it gave him.
"Time to go." Tang Zheng glanced at the forest before turning to leave with his sword.
After a few steps, he looked back at the hellhound still sitting there watching him. "Aren't you coming?"
"Woof!" The pup startled before its black eyes brightened. It quickly trotted after him on all fours.
