Overlord: Welcoming the Birth of the King -
Chapter 20: “Gained 300 EXP” – The Ashamed Rock Squad
A burnt smell lingered in the air.
The two ogres, which had cornered the Rock team and seemed incredibly dangerous, were easily crushed by a single Thunder Strike.
The atmosphere became somewhat quiet!
Even Dosali, the team leader who was howling in pain with a broken ankle, fell silent at this moment.
"Third-tier magic 'Thunder Strike' discovered. Requires basic magician profession. Level requirement: 15–21. Current conditions not met..."
Information from the attribute panel appeared before Tang Zheng.
The basic magician profession can be changed through "Genius," but he clearly did not meet the level requirement now.
"What a pity," Tang Zheng thought silently.
Then, noticing the quiet atmosphere on the field, Tang Zheng could guess the complicated emotions inside the Rock team at this moment.
The ogre that none of them could defeat with all their effort had been easily dealt with by his client. It was hard not to feel conflicted.
Not to mention!
Using third-tier magic was the domain of "Platinum-rank" or even "Mithril-rank" adventurers.
The Rock team was struggling just to reach "Gold-rank," let alone these higher-level adventurers!
After a brief silence,
Tang Zheng was the first to break the atmosphere and hurried toward team leader Dosali.
Seeing Dosali lying on the ground, his face twisted in severe pain,
Tang Zheng squatted down and saw that the ogre’s remaining palm was still tightly gripping Dosali’s ankle. "Team leader Dosali, let me help you remove the ogre’s hand."
Dosali nodded instinctively, then his face flushed slightly.
It was unclear whether the redness was from the pain caused by Tang Zheng forcibly prying off the ogre’s hand or for some other reason.
The rough, dark yellow ogre’s palm was torn off by Tang Zheng and casually tossed aside. His gaze shifted to Dosali’s lower leg.
The entire calf was completely crushed, twisted, and drooping on the ground. The bones inside were obviously shattered.
Such an injury would have left someone disabled in his previous life!
But in this world, although serious, it was not a big deal since resurrection magic existed.
"Light Heal!"
Tang Zheng extended both hands toward the calf and spoke softly.
A gentle white light enveloped Dosali’s lower leg. Under the healing magic, the flattened calf slowly inflated as if filled with air, and the twisted shape gradually corrected itself.
The calf, which had just lost feeling, began to regain intense pain, causing Dosali to gasp sharply but he still held back from shouting.
As the light faded,
The previously deformed calf now barely looked normal.
Seeing this,
Tang Zheng cast "Light Heal" again.
After the second healing spell ended, Dosali’s entire lower leg looked restored to its original shape.
"Superficially, it’s fine, but the bones inside are shattered."
"The two spells only provide a simple fix. To fully recover, you’ll need several more treatments. Wait until I regain some magic power, then I’ll heal you properly."
Tang Zheng exhaled and spoke softly.
Along the way, the Rock team had treated him well, so naturally, he wouldn’t hold back when helping them.
Dosali’s face was drenched in sweat, and his lips were pale, clearly the pain from the leg’s recovery was intense. "Thank you, Tang."
"No need to be so polite, team leader Dosali," Tang Zheng replied.
At that moment, the archer Baske supported the injured Rand and Ler brothers as they approached. Seeing the team leader’s condition, they breathed a sigh of relief and glanced gratefully at Tang Zheng.
"Are you two okay?"
Tang Zheng stood up and looked at the two brothers being supported.
"Don’t worry, we won’t die," Ler grinned. Except for their pale faces, there were no obvious injuries.
However, since archer Baske was supporting them, even without visible wounds, they likely had internal injuries. Tang Zheng remembered that one of the ogres had kicked them flying.
"A few ribs are broken," Rand said with a trace of blood at the corner of his mouth. "But we won’t die."
"I’ll help you heal once my magic recovers," Tang Zheng nodded.
Rand laughed heartily. "Good."
"Huh?" Archer Baske’s ears twitched, and he suddenly turned his head toward the ogre lying on the ground with its arm broken by lightning. "It’s not dead yet?"
Upon hearing this, the Rock team’s faces turned cold.
Tang Zheng’s eyes lit up. Without waiting for the Rock team to react, he walked to the ogre on the ground first.
He swung his dagger!
Following the wound left by the arrow in the ogre’s eye, he stabbed fiercely into its brain and twisted forcefully.
The ogre, barely breathing before, completely lost its last breath.
The swift and decisive action surprised the Rock team.
Perhaps even Tang Zheng did not notice, but an unforgiving sharpness had unknowingly appeared in his movements.
"Experience gained: 300!"
Tang Zheng saw the information flash on his attribute panel and a trace of delight flashed in his eyes.
So much experience.
He immediately leveled up. Adding the scattered experience he had previously earned, his level was now 5.
"Are you all okay?" Enfirea jumped down from the carriage and hurried over, full of concern.
The Rock team instinctively exchanged glances, showing respect as they looked at Enfirea approaching them.
"Don’t worry. We absolutely won’t delay the next part of the journey," team leader Dosali said as he supported himself with both hands and stood on one leg quickly.
"I didn’t mean that."
Enfirea’s cheeks flushed as he waved his arm to dismiss the misunderstanding and was about to say more when he suddenly noticed the Rock team looking behind him with awe.
"Take some time to rest first."
Grandmother Lizzy walked over expressionlessly with her hands behind her back.
"Yes, ma’am."
Dosali spoke seriously, though standing on one leg looked a bit awkward.
A mage who could use third-tier magic was not someone their small team could offend, especially since he had just saved their lives.
The other three members of the Rock team lowered their heads with flushed faces, feeling embarrassed that their client had saved them.
They never would have expected that someone so powerful would hire an adventurer team for escort—no, perhaps at first, he just wanted cheap labor.
Grandmother Lizzy ignored the Rock team and looked toward the direction where the goblins and ogres had appeared.
That area belonged to the Great Tob Forest south of the Angelicia Mountains. The forest was not only vast but also very dangerous. E-Rantel was right on the edge of this forest.
"Looks like it’s time to clear out the monsters again," Grandmother Lizzy murmured.
Goblins were monsters that reproduced very rapidly. Coupled with wild beasts and other monsters in the forest, they almost attacked humans every year.
Therefore, the adventurer guild in E-Rantel always had monster-clearing tasks on their board throughout the year.
