Overlord: Welcoming the Birth of the King
Chapter 15: Traveling Together, Leaving the Capital

Enfirea didn't hesitate, seemingly quite interested in Tang Zheng who wasn't much older than him. "I need to discuss this with my grandmother first. Everyone can come along for now."

With that, Enfirea turned and quickly ran out of the Adventurer's Guild's main entrance.

"Let's follow them too. It's a good chance to meet our employer," team leader Dosali said to his three teammates before turning to Tang Zheng with a hearty laugh. "Coming along?"

Tang Zheng gave a slight nod.

Leader Dosali walked side by side with Tang Zheng as they headed outside, the other three team members following closely behind, subtly forming a protective formation around Tang Zheng.

After Tang Zheng demonstrated his healing magic, many adventurer teams had already begun eyeing him covetously.

Now.

The actions of the Rock team made many surrounding adventurer teams curse inwardly.

At the reception desk.

The brown-haired girl Daya watched Tang Zheng leave with the Rock team, her brown eyes showing a mix of admiration and melancholy.

"How impressive. You couldn't tell at all from his appearance that he's a faith-based magic caster. If only my brother..."

Daya murmured to herself, but soon put on her professional smile again to receive other adventurers.

Outside the Adventurer's Guild.

A cargo carriage stood waiting, its old wooden frame piled high with goods. The bottom layer held wooden crates of various sizes, while the top was covered with something resembling dried straw-like plants.

Just approaching the carriage, one could smell a strong, pungent herbal aroma!

At the front of the carriage sat an old woman holding a horsewhip, her head wrapped in a light green scarf - Enfirea's grandmother Lizzy.

Tang Zheng and the Rock team members exited the building to see Enfirea speaking with his grandmother Lizzy, clearly telling her what had happened inside the guild hall.

Tang Zheng's group didn't approach immediately, instead waiting near the rear of the carriage.

They didn't have to wait long.

Enfirea returned with a happy expression.

"Grandmother agreed you can come along."

"However, she wants you to demonstrate your healing magic in front of her first," Enfirea said with a smile.

"No problem," Tang Zheng replied softly.

Compared to randomly joining a merchant caravan or adventurer team heading to E-Rantel, traveling with Enfirea and his grandmother whom he already knew something about was much more reassuring.

Moreover!

Enfirea's grandmother Lizzy could use third-tier magic!

Tang Zheng followed Enfirea to stand before Lizzy.

Her wrinkled face and whitened hair made her appear quite old. Her expressionless face with slightly protruding jawbones gave the impression she wouldn't be easy to get along with.

In reality.

Someone who could raise someone as gentle as Enfirea probably wasn't that bad herself.

"Where are you from? Black hair and dark brown eyes are quite rare throughout the kingdom," Lizzy asked expressionlessly.

Hearing this.

Tang Zheng paused - this wasn't an easy question to answer.

"Never mind, unimportant details. Demonstrate your healing magic on this horse," Lizzy said, slightly narrowing her eyes as she pointed to the black horse pulling the carriage.

The horse appeared rather old, with visible indentations on its neck and back from years of pulling carts. Its hindquarters had sparse hair, with faint red marks still visible.

"Alright."

Without wasting words, Tang Zheng raised his hand toward the black horse: "Light Heal."

He could clearly feel most of his magic power being drained away again!

A soft white light enveloped the black horse, and the red marks on its hindquarters quickly healed and disappeared.

"Snort!"

The black horse shook its head and snorted, appearing quite comfortable.

Haa~

Tang Zheng exhaled.

Though he didn't feel tired, his magic power was nearly depleted.

The first-tier "Light Heal" consumed 5 MP. Combined with his earlier demonstration in the guild hall, he'd now used it twice.

With only 13 MP total, he couldn't cast it again even if he wanted to!

Tang Zheng glanced at his status panel's MP value - from his first casting until now, not even 1 MP had recovered.

Magic recovery was much slower than he'd anticipated!

Perhaps it was because he currently lacked a magic-oriented class.

While the "Genius" profession could convert to any basic class, it clearly didn't provide the attribute bonuses or effects of other professions.

"Hmm." Only then did Lizzy nod, her wrinkled face breaking into a smile. "Looks like we can pick up the pace returning to E-Rantel. Let's depart."

With that.

Lizzy paid no further attention to Tang Zheng, calling out to Enfirea instead. After Enfirea climbed onto the carriage and sat beside his grandmother.

Crack!

The sound of a whip striking horseflesh rang out.

The wooden wheels pressed against the stone pavement with creaking sounds as they set off.

Tang Zheng and the Rock team members had no choice but to follow closely behind - clearly not invited to ride on the carriage!

Fortunately.

The heavily laden carriage couldn't move very fast anyway.

Year 4 Before Calendar, May 17th.

Tang Zheng's second day in this world, leaving the capital.

Most of the Li Yestige Kingdom's territory consisted of plains, with two major port cities along the northern and western coasts.

The kingdom's population was predominantly human, with demi-humans being quite rare - partly due to the kingdom's populace generally disliking other races.

In recent years.

The Slane Theocracy to the south had been at war with the Elven Kingdom further south, resulting in occasional forest elves being sold in Li Yestige and Baharuth.

Prices were exorbitant, typically over 300 gold coins.

And that was for ordinary forest elves. Those with professional skills could fetch over 1000 gold coins.

Such elves were reportedly treated as "living magic items" for sale.

Three days had passed since leaving the capital. Tang Zheng learned this information through conversations with the Rock team members.

The Rock team members seemed eager to build rapport with Tang Zheng, answering almost any simple question he asked.

Thus.

Tang Zheng indirectly learned some basic common knowledge and information about this world.

The journey passed without incident, perhaps because they were traveling through the kingdom's central regions.

After several days together.

Beyond becoming somewhat familiar with each other, Tang Zheng finally understood why Lizzy - capable of third-tier magic - had hired adventurers.

They were for manual labor!

The carriage's load of medicinal herbs required daily airing and sunning.

The Rock team naturally handled the loading and unloading. Team leader Dosali privately complained about this to Tang Zheng several times.

As for Tang Zheng.

He wasn't idle either. During herb-drying periods and nightly rests, he had to use healing magic on the horses.

It wasn't just for treating whip marks.

According to Lizzy, healing magic could restore not just injuries but also some of the recipient's stamina.

This made Tang Zheng realize that skills functioned somewhat differently in this real world compared to their game representations.

Meanwhile, his continuous magic usage.

Allowed Tang Zheng to observe his MP recovery rate - approximately 1 point per hour.
