Chapter 499 - 499 This is for returning to you
Chapter 499: This is for returning to you. Chapter 499: This is for returning to you. The dance finally came to an end.
It wasn’t long before Arnold Johnson was called away.
“You stay here, eat something, have some fun, I’ll be back soon,” Arnold said softly to her.
Victoria Garcia pouted slightly and said, “Go ahead!”
“As soon as I leave, that pretty-face Mr. Hernandez will probably try to swoop in. Be cautious with him, avoid giving him any attention if you can, and wait until I’ve finished investigating him before deciding what to do.” Arnold didn’t forget to warn her before leaving, and Victoria thought he was a bit overly jealous.
“I know.”
As expected, Arnold’s figure had barely disappeared for a minute before Edward Hernandez came over, holding a glass of wine, and sat down in front of Victoria.
“Mr. Johnson seems very busy. If Miss Garcia doesn’t mind, I’ll keep you company for a drink.” Edward had an open and honest expression and didn’t appear to be at all sly.
Even so, Victoria still smiled and said, “If I say I mind, will Mr. Hernandez leave?”
“Then I’ll just have to be shameless this once and stay with Miss Garcia for a drink before leaving.” Even when acting like a rogue, he did it openly and didn’t seem to care that she already had a fiancé.
“There are so many women here, and so many single ones. Mr. Hernandez can find someone else who’s interesting to drink with.”
“Looking around, I think Miss Garcia is the most interesting person here,” Edward replied without hesitation.
So Victoria retorted directly, “No matter how interesting I am, I have no interest in other men.”
As expected, Edward went on the offensive, “How do you know if you don’t try?”
“I am not interested in trying other men,” Victoria rejected him outright once again.
Edward, however, didn’t take those rejections to heart, “It’s too early to talk about being interested or not. I won’t lie to Miss Garcia – I’ve been very interested in you since the first time I saw you.”
“Mr. Hernandez, being a respectable and polite person, should know better than to pursue someone who’s already taken. Please curb your interest for your sake,” Victoria said once again.
Edward blinked his long, enchanting eyes, saying, “You’re not married yet, and I’m not married. My pursuing you is reasonable, and not against the law. As long as you’re not legally bound, anything is possible.”
“…” Victoria could only offer silent resistance to his words.
“Besides, I, Edward Hernandez, rarely find a woman I fancy. I can’t give up just like that. Otherwise, my life would be filled with endless regrets. So, Miss Garcia, don’t be so quick to reject me,” he said with genuine intentions.
Victoria could only smile politely, her mind searching for an opportunity to get away from him.
Just as Victoria was thinking this, Leah Chester walked over with a glass of wine and greeted her, “Victoria, there you are! I’ve been looking for you.”
At this moment, Leah rescued her, so Victoria went along with the conversation.
“Leah, you needed something?”
Seeing her ask this, Leah replied with a smile, “Yes, I wanted to talk to you about something I didn’t finish telling you last time. I wonder if it’s okay to do so now?”
“Of course!” Victoria immediately responded with a smile.
After responding to Leah Chester, Victoria turned her gaze to Edward Hernandez.
