Chapter 415: Life after catastrophe 3 Chapter 415: Life after catastrophe 3 “How well done do you want it?” Arnold turned his head to ask Victoria.
Instead, Victoria asked him back, “What do you think is the best doneness?”
“Since you don’t like raw food, let’s go for six or seven out of ten.” After all, Arnold wasn’t a professional chef, so he wasn’t sure if his work would be six or seven out of ten.
Victoria smiled and agreed, “Alright, I’ll trust your judgment!”
“Now see if there’s anything else you want to eat in the fridge. Bring some out and put them on the dinner table. Don’t forget to grab some wine for me,” Arnold instructed naturally.
“Okay!” she replied.
Not too long later, Victoria had already set the table, even including a bouquet of flowers. The sight was simply pleasing to the eye.
The vegetable salad, the neatly cut fruit platter, the small portion of cooked pasta, and Arnold’s self-made grilled fish were all set. Sitting here high in the sky with a loved one, enjoying this dinner, it felt blissfully perfect.
“Cheers!”
“Cheers!”
Victoria thought she didn’t want to eat meat, but after having a piece of grilled fish, she kept on finishing one piece after another.
After finishing her meal, she couldn’t help but complain to Arnold, “If I keep eating with you like this, I’ll end up a real chubster.”
“Then, I’ll join you in becoming a chubster,” Arnold replied with a laugh.
Victoria was still quite happy to hear it, laughing and responding, “How about this – I join you in running a five-kilometer every morning instead. A lifestyle where you can eat and not gain weight sounds far more appealing.”
“Great stamina, waiting to be released,” Arnold blurted out.
Victoria was taken aback for a moment before asking, “What are you talking about?”
“I’m complimenting your stamina,” Arnold naturally omitted the latter part of his sentence.
He realized jokes like this ended up ‘hurting’ him instead, so he needed to suppress this self-inflicted bitterness, especially before finding a solution to Victoria’s health issue.
Just then, his phone rang. Seeing the number displayed, Arnold felt as if the impending darkness was about to brighten up.
“Did my call thrill you, hey?” The man on the phone was joking and threatening at the same time, “Come on, sing a song to entertain me. I won’t hang up as long as you make me happy, or else I’ll hang up, and you won’t be able to contact me.”
“Wavy, how about I introduce a beautiful girl to you. I’m sure she sings better than me,” Arnold responded happily, and even Victoria could tell.
“I’m never short of beautiful girls around me. Stop rambling and start singing or I’ll hang up.”
“How about I send you a box of gold?”
“Don’t make me look poor, Arnold. If you keep on like this, I really will hang up,” Wavy responded with mock resignation.
Arnold heard this and immediately growled, “Believe it or not, I’ll root out a certain person, making your days unresting.”
“You’re threatening me, Arnold. That’s heartless!” Wavy almost burst into tears.
“If you don’t want to be threatened, then you better start talking. Where are you now?”
“In Metropolis.”
“I’ll be there in about six hours. Wait for me in Metropolis. As soon as I land, Victoria and I will come find you,” Arnold stated bluntly.
“If you’re willing to introduce Victoria to me, I might consider staying in Metropolis for these six hours,” Wavy retorted fearlessly.
However, even from such a distance, Wavy seemed to sense an unusual atmosphere.
