Chapter 157 - 157 Qingcheng Old Factory 2
Chapter 157: Qingcheng Old Factory 2 Chapter 157: Qingcheng Old Factory 2 Victoria Garcia pressed her lips together, her crossed hands resting on the dining table. After a long pause, she asked, “What are the current sales channels for the factory?”
The Sales Department manager, hearing the question related to his line of work, hurriedly replied, “We sell some of our products in our Green City Shop, which is managed by our factory. The other part of our sales goes through distributors.”
“Are those all traditional sales channels? Anything else?” Victoria asked indifferently. “For example, online sales, is anyone in charge of that?”
“Well… We have considered that, but due to limited funds at the moment, it would be quite costly to hire personnel for the online aspect, so we haven’t expanded in that direction yet.”
“If there are no funds, have you applied for assistance from the Headquarters?” Victoria continued to question him.
Upon hearing this, the Sales Department manager began to sweat, nervously replying, “Since the factory’s performance is not that good, the funding from the Headquarters is fixed. Due to the high number of unsold items and the high cost of inventory, the Headquarters’ stance is that if additional funds are needed, we have to figure out a way to convert the backlog of inventory into funds.”
Victoria understood the implications. For the Old Factory, a lack of adaptability and financial constraints resulted in a vicious cycle. No wonder the Headquarters had complaints. If they couldn’t think of a solution for the high inventory costs, any new funding would just be misused without solving the underlying issues. Eventually, when there were too many such applications, Headquarters would naturally think of cutting off its support.
“With so much backlog of unsold products, we are dealing with two major issues: product design and sales channels. The managers responsible for these two areas, I hope you can come up with new ideas to address these issues. Also, whoever is in charge of the products, please take photos of all the unsold products, including detailed images, and send them to me. I want to see what kind of styles they are.”
Having said that, Victoria looked at the managers responsible for these two areas and asked, “Can you get that to me before the end of the workday tomorrow? Any issues with that?”
On hearing this, the two managers naturally didn’t dare to refuse and both agreed on the spot.
After dinner, some were rejoicing while others were worried.
In the afternoon, Victoria accompanied a few staff members to visit the factory floor and inspect the operation of workers and the finished products made by machines.
Upon close inspection, Victoria realized that not only were the old machines slow in producing clothes, but the garments also had subpar workmanship in terms of details. Another issue was the design and materials of the garments themselves.
LN Apparel’s target market was mid to high-end fashion clothing. However, looking at these outdated styles, Victoria had to conclude that the Design Department was also a significant problem.
After her visit to the factory, Victoria decided to head to the Design Department.
There were only three staff members in the Design Department, and none of them were young.
Victoria did not believe that older designers necessarily produced outdated designs, but the products they designed did seem older than their actual age, which raised her suspicions.
After locating the department head, Victoria asked her to show her the design drafts for the new season products.
As the Design Manager showed her the design drafts, Victoria’s eyes darkened. The main style of the new products was a replica of last year’s best-selling product from AC, with only slight modifications to the collar and no other changes.
The other designs were merely variations of outdated products. As Victoria looked at these new product design drafts, her anger surged.
