Chapter 392: Revised: Chapter 392 Submission

“Xiaoyu, why did you come back so late! You went to town at noon, and now it’s evening. What have you been doing?”

Before Wu Xiaoyu could reply, Wu Youliang scolded, “Alright! Shut up! Why ask so many questions? Isn’t the situation messy enough?”

Now, the yard inside and outside Wu Xiaoyu’s house was already filled with anxious villagers. Wu Xiaoyu couldn’t say much, just patted his mother’s shoulder to comfort her.

“Folks, I know you’re anxious, but isn’t it unnecessary for all of you to crowd into my house? Didn’t I say to just hand over the production group lists to Accountant Liu?” Wu Xiaoyu complained.

Upon hearing this, the villagers began to shout again, “You’re the one who started this factory, and without your approval, everyone feels uneasy!”

“Exactly! Accountant Liu can’t make decisions for you! Without your confirmation, who can be at ease!”

“…”

Wu Xiaoyu glanced at Accountant Liu, who was glaring angrily at the villagers with fury in his eyes.

Accountant Liu has been serving Daxin Village for almost twenty years. He always speaks straightforwardly, and this matter has already been authorized by Wu Xiaoyu.

But unexpectedly, the villagers still didn’t trust him. They felt uneasy, which made him feel both aggrieved and angry.

“Fine! Then hand the lists to me!” Wu Xiaoyu had to compromise, preparing to collect the villagers’ production group lists and send them home.

Daxin Village is a remote and impoverished mountain village, with a population of less than two hundred households, totaling less than a thousand people.

Wu Xiaoyu had them form production groups of ten households each, resulting in about twenty groups, but there were two or three hundred people present.

When they heard him say to collect the production group lists, they all crowded around him again, shouting excitedly, “Xiaoyu… Xiaoyu, we are a group…”

Wu Xiaoyu was speechless at their clamoring; couldn’t you just hand the lists directly to me?

“Stop shouting! Just give me the lists first, okay!” Wu Xiaoyu, feeling helpless, shouted loudly.

Seeing him somewhat angry, the villagers finally quieted down again. One by one, they walked to him, handing over their lists.

After collecting the production group lists, he persuaded, “Folks, I have the lists now. Please go home! Don’t worry! I won’t go back on my word!”

“Xiaoyu, let Aunt make it clear to you. Several households are in one group; you must not mix it up!” One of Wu Xiaoyu’s aunts pointed nervously at the people beside her, shouting.

The people beside her echoed her words, “Right! Xiaoyu, you must not mix it up!”

“Aunt! Don’t worry! The lists won’t get mixed up! Just go home!” Wu Xiaoyu frowned, almost pleading.

Seeing him truly impatient, the villagers reluctantly left, fearing his disapproval.

Accountant Liu, seeing them leave, grumbled, “Youliang, Xiaoyu! You see, these villagers are really a headache!”

“Even though they’ve all registered their lists, they’re still uneasy, insisting on handing them over to you personally!”

Wu Youliang smiled bitterly and agreed, “Everyone is scared of being poor, fearful of being left out!”

“But Wu Xiaoyu has done a great deed!” Accountant Liu smiled, praising.

Wu Youliang was about to invite Accountant Liu into the house when he saw Liu Sheng’s parents hesitantly walk in.

“Ninth brother, sister-in-law, why are you here?” Accountant Liu was somewhat resigned to see Liu Sheng’s parents at Wu Xiaoyu’s house.

Since Liu Sheng stole chickens last time, the two families haven’t interacted, although they haven’t had a major falling out.

Wang Aifeng was angry at Liu Sheng’s parents for the theft, and they felt guilty and avoided her. Whenever Wang Aifeng stood on the street, Liu Sheng’s mother would actively avoid her.

“Uh! I’m looking for Xiaoyu…” Liu Sheng’s father responded awkwardly, thinking the villagers had left, only to find his relative still at Wu Xiaoyu’s house.

Wu Xiaoyu, although very annoyed by Liu Sheng, didn’t hold much hostility towards his parents, as they were honest people.

“Uncle, Aunt, is there something you need?” Wu Xiaoyu feigned ignorance, hoping they would leave.

But since they had come, they wouldn’t leave without saying anything.

Liu Sheng’s mother tugged at her husband, who was still hesitating, then stepped forward to plead:

“Xiaoyu! Could you add Aunt to the soybean sauce production?”

Wu Xiaoyu smiled bitterly inside, pretending to be troubled, saying, “The groups are decided privately by everyone. Coming to me won’t help!”

Wang Aifeng saw Liu Sheng’s parents begging for money and found it amusing despite showing disdain.

Your malicious son, no matter how shameless or cunning, is no match for my son!

Liu Sheng’s father heard Wu Xiaoyu say he couldn’t make decisions and was about to leave when his wife held him back.

“What are you doing? Turning down the chance to make money because it’s too troublesome?” Liu Sheng’s mother complained softly, not caring about face.

After her husband stood still, she continued to Wu Xiaoyu, “Xiaoyu, Aunt knows Liu Sheng did things against you.”

“But everyone makes mistakes sometimes. Can’t you forgive him? Besides, he worked in Guangdong Province with you. Can’t you give us some care for old times’ sake?”

Her lowly pleadings made Wu Xiaoyu somewhat troubled. Although Liu Sheng was a scoundrel, his parents were innocent.

Now, begging a junior to make soybean sauce was hard to refuse.

Wang Aifeng saw her son’s heavy expression and seemed genuinely undecided, so she stepped in:

“Don’t! We dare not use your soybean sauce! If Liu Sheng puts poison in it, we can’t afford to compensate!”

As expected, Liu Sheng’s father turned to leave immediately, and the mother was extremely embarrassed.

“Still standing there for mockery? Happy to be ridiculed?” Liu Sheng’s father scolded his wife angrily.

Liu Sheng’s mother felt humiliated and even more upset seeing her husband’s lack of understanding.

“Enough! What’s your face worth? And isn’t it true? If Liu Sheng hadn’t been malicious, would anyone group with us?” Liu Sheng’s mother exploded.

Accountant Liu stepped forward to mediate, “Alright! You should go home! Don’t cause a scene here; it’s embarrassing!”

But his good intentions were unappreciated, and Liu Sheng’s father angrily glared at Accountant Liu.

“Brother! You’re really something! Help Wu Xiaoyu bully your kin!” Liu Sheng’s father raged.

Seeing this ungrateful response, Accountant Liu was thoroughly fed up and turned away, heading into Wu Xiaoyu’s house without further comment.

“Enough! Just go home! Don’t mess things up here!” Liu Sheng’s mother scolded.
