Chapter 989: Chapter 982: The Stage Play

Under Tangmo’s call, several magic arrays embedded with magic crystals were instantly activated, and the runes emitted a faint silver-white cold light. Then, the light followed the runes from the connected arrays to the main magic array, awakening the huge magic array on the ground.

Magic power first awakened the outer runes of the main magic array, then gradually moved inward, first to the fifth ring, then to the fourth, to the third, the second... Whenever magic power reached the core area of the array, it would make the runes glow with a luminescent cold light, so many densely packed runes emitting light at the same time that it even lit up the entire room for a while.

Eventually, the magic power flowed along the runes to the central core area of the array, and followed the slot all the way to that little metal plate.

The runes on the metal plate were also activated in an instant, emitting bursts of phosphorescence. And it was at this moment that Tangmo was surprised to find that the speed of magic flowing through the runes had actually increased.

The indented runes emitted an increasingly intense silver-white glow, eventually becoming so bright that she herself dared not look directly at it. This was the effect of magic moving quickly through the runes, with magic particles colliding rapidly with each other to produce a great amount of light, but not heat, an interesting magical phenomenon.

The metal plate embedded in the center of the array seemed to be voraciously absorbing the magic power provided by the magic array, and it was unclear how such a small metal plate could absorb such an enormous amount of magic power. How exactly was it compressing the magic?

Tangmo held her breath and looked back at everyone. When she turned her head again, she was shocked to see the embedded magic crystals losing their original color at a visible rate, becoming pure and transparent. This was due to the rapid depletion of magic stored in the magic crystals.

The small metal plate in the center of the array, like a bottomless pit, was madly absorbing the magic power from the magic crystals and the atmosphere. Fortunately, the magic array’s absorption of atmospheric magic was limited; otherwise, in just a few moments, the metal plate would have drained all the magic from the cave.

The magic array had been running for less than ten seconds, and the metal plate had already sucked dry all the magic from the crystals. As the magic depleted, the array slowly lost its glow, starting from the periphery, then gradually towards the circle, the light on the runes was slowly diminishing, and eventually faded away.

Thirty seconds after the magic array started, the metal plate finally absorbed all the magic power on the runes of the array, and the runes of the array eventually dimmed. It all happened so fast, as if it was all just a fleeting dream.

The runes on the metal plate also disappeared along with the light of the array, as if none of it had ever happened, and the metal plate showed not the slightest change.

Tangmo looked at everything somewhat annoyed, feeling that it was her own failure to embed enough magic crystals that caused this to happen.

Just when everyone thought it was all over, suddenly, the runes on the metal plate lit up again, and the light became more and more intense, as if a small white sun had exploded in an instant.

The silver-white cold light emitted from the metal plate increasingly enveloped it completely while radiating outward. The ground’s magic array was activated again, but this time the glow emanating from the array’s runes was many times, even dozens of times, than before.

The dazzling light not only lit up the entire magic array but even extended beyond the original boundaries of the array, spreading outwards steadily.

In less than two seconds, the silver-white runes had completely enveloped the entire room, fine runes converging, gradually shrouding the whole room in silver-white.

Everyone watched the spectacle in front of them, dumbfounded, as their surroundings were wrapped in a layer of silver-white cold light. However, the light, though intense, was not blinding. They didn’t even need to squint, because it didn’t irritate their eyes.

Soon, everyone realized that they seemed to be in a silver-white room, surrounded by the cold light, while their own colors had not changed, making them feel out of place in such an environment.

In this room, nothing else could be seen, as if it were empty, even the contours of the room itself were invisible, completely wrapped in the silver-white cold light.

Just when everyone was uneasy, suddenly, a noticeable platform rose up at the end of the room, and a common park bench appeared on the platform. Behind the bench were silver-white trees and shrubs, giving the impression of a stage set.

So everyone’s attention was focused on this platform, eager to see what would happen next.

After the set fully appeared, the outline of a person began to materialize on the bench. It was a young man wearing a white robe with a strange hat, sitting upright on the bench, squinting as if waiting for someone.

"Is this, is this...a stage play?" Luo’er’s eyes widened in amazement at the sight before him, and he couldn’t help but exclaim in shock.

As he made a sound, the young man seated on the bench seemed to hear his voice, and so he looked up at Luo’er.

The young man had a handsome face; his large eyes, though, were proportionate to his other features, so they didn’t seem out of place. Rather, they added to his attractiveness.

Upon seeing the man’s gaze, Luo’er almost choked, frozen in place, unable to move, and watched the man on the stage with wide eyes.

After looking at Luo’er for a moment, the man averted his gaze, his face still as expressionless as a still well. He raised his head, as if looking at the sun, and then a trace of irritation appeared on his face. At the same time, he stood up from the bench and started pacing back and forth restlessly.

"Manoylis, I apologize for my tardiness. Has the performance already started?" Just then, a young voice came from behind the stage, and another man appeared at the edge of the stage, then walked guiltily towards the pacing young man.

"You’re late, Atosan. The show has already started, and the guests can hardly wait," the man called Manoylis said coldly, while turning to glance at the audience below.

"I’m truly sorry, Manoylis. Please forgive my mistake. I didn’t want to make excuses for my negligence. It’s just that St. Felicia City has descended into chaos, and I was even attacked by three False Gods on the way here. I had no intention of tangling with them, so I had to kill them all," the man known as Atosan said, bowing his head in front of Manoylis, full of guilt.

"Damn, has St. Felicia City also fallen into chaos? That’s terrible; it seems our end is not far off," Manoylis remarked in surprise.

"Yes, indeed not far off," Atosan said, extending his hand as he spoke, "Now, although it’s summer, there are snowflakes floating in the sky. Such a sight is too strange and too crazy."

"It is indeed crazy," Manoylis nodded and said.

"Perhaps we should sit on the chairs and have a good talk about why our world has become like this. Maybe we can also get some inspiration from it," Manoylis continued.

"I have the same intention, Manoylis. That’s also why I came to find you. You take the seat of honor, and let’s have a good discussion about the story of our world."

"Please take a seat as well, Atosan. Just having me sitting down, I can’t converse with you," Manoylis said.

The audience remained stunned, staring in bewilderment at the conversation between the two men on the stage. Or rather, they seemed more like they were performing, as they were aware of the audience below.

In addition, amidst the shock, Luo’er also noticed a detail: they could not understand a word of what the two on the stage were saying. The two spoke very rapidly, as if they were speaking Spanish and Russian.

Yet, strangely enough, even though the dialog was incomprehensible, the audience knew the meaning of every sentence the two men said. It was as though there were subtitles in their minds, translating the heard speech into recognizable text.

So Luo’er took a deep breath, focused, and watched the performance of the two on the stage. He could distinctly feel that the two on the stage would reveal some earth-shattering secret unknown to the world.
