Chapter 99: Chapter 99 Confrontation Between The Two Men

Serbian Howard stared at his still outstretched hand and slowly thinned his lips, his eyes trailing to the bouquet of flowers on the floor.

The next second, he raised his eyes to size up the man standing between him and Kelsie.

Seeing this, Jett glanced at Kelsie and shielded her completely with his body.

Serbian clenched his jaw tightly, stepped to the side, and gazed at her as he apologized with guilt in his voice, "Ms. Sutton, I didn’t know you were allergic to flowers."

"Have you had breakfast yet? Even if you have, let me buy you something to eat in apology."

Jett squinted his eyes at him and didn’t know when he sneered loudly.

Not at being ignored, but at the loving smile on Serbian’s face which, for some reason, he found irritating.

"Her allergy almost kicked in in public because of you and you still have the audacity out ask her out?"

Serbian finally turned to face him, "Why? Can’t I?"

Jett returned his gaze with a stern look. fre(e)webnove.l.c.om

"You didn’t even know she’s allergic to flower, but you want to take her out. What if you order something she’s allergic to and she chokes on it and has to be operated on?"

Serbian sucked in a deep breathe, suppressing the urge to hit this annoying man knowing he was right.

"You talk like I will be the one ordering for her. Even if I were, I’m not that insensitive that I wouldn’t ask her to be sure."

After talking, he turned to Kelsie and sighed softly, "Ms. Sutton, I didn’t know you employed a bodyguard."

Kelsie pulled on a straight face, "Bodyguard? I don’t even know who he is."

Jett turned to her and snorted, "What do you mean you don’t know who I am? I live in this apartment building too and we went on a trip to Darki just yesterday. You also drove me back."

"Deny me one more time to please him and I’ll show him the footage from last night when you drove in with me!"

Not bothering to meet his eyes, she exhaled sharply in annoyance, "I didn’t drive back with you because I wanted to, you forced yourself into my car saying owe you."

The man was silent for a moment before he folded his arms across his chest and harrumphed in frustration.

"You do owe me, remember? Not just one or two favors. If I’m to measure how many favors you owe me given from what happened yesterday, you’d be owing me ten favors!"

Kelsie’s eyes instantly snapped towards him, "Ten favors?"

The man turned to face her squarely and hummed seriously, "What? Do you think it’s too much for what you cost me yesterday?"

Kelsie went mum, recalling the death of the first-year from yesterday.

Indeed, ten favors were a small price to pay for a human life.

The next second, she lowered her face to the floor, feeling a sneeze building up in her nose.

As she moved the side of her arm to her nose, Jett suddenly reached out and covered her nose with a white hankerchief.

Out of habit, she took it and wiped her nose clean, muttering a small, "Thank you."

Watching them, Serbian Howard’s eyes fell a little at this smooth and practiced gesture.

After what happened with Bryan Baker two days ago, he didn’t bother to find out if she was seeing anyone and just concluded she was single.

Now, he realized he made a conclusion too fast.

A woman like her would surely grab the attention of a lot of men.

He quickly snapped out of his thought and raised his eyes when he heard Jett grumbling underneath his breath.

"What did you send me money for? This isn’t enough to pay off all the favors you’re owing me, nor will I be collecting the equivalent of my favors in cash."

Kelsie pocketed her phone without glancing at him as she corrected, "It’s for your hankerchief. I don’t want you lurking around me any more than you already are."

"What do you mean? When did I tell you it’s for sale?" He paused and stretched his palm towards her, "Hand it over."

Kelsie raised her brow in confusion. "Give you back? I just used it to wipe my nose."

The man nodded in agreement. "I saw it. I still want it back."

"Why would you want something a stranger used in wiping her nose?"

"Because it’s mine and a limited edition."

"So you need more money?"

"I’ll send you back the money you just sent. Now hand it over."

Although still confused, Kelsie nodded and stretched it towards him.

But out of nowhere, another hand reached out and grabbed it.

The duo’s eyes naturally followed it to see Serbian nonchalantly slipping it into his pocket.

"I have a few of this at home. This is where you live, isn’t it? Choose a time and day and I’ll be here to give you an exact replica of it."

Serbian and Jett’s eyes met and a spark Kelsie didn’t notice ignited in them.

Jett didn’t recognize him at first, but now he was gazing straight at his face, he recalled he was the one who came looking for Kelsie two days ago.

Had that brat from the Baker family not caused a scene and unnecessarily wasted his time, he would’ve been in the reception long enough to know why he came to see Kelsie.

But judging from their conversation now, Kelsie had obviously met with Serbian that day and they discussed god-knows-what.

His eyes suddenly fell on the bouquet of flowers on the floor and a sudden burst of emotion rippled through his body, a mix of frustration and annoyance.

Then he tore his eyes away from it and glared hard at Serbian, "Now that you’ve touched it, I no longer want it."

"Aren’t you magnanimous? How can I ever thank you?" Serbian’s words dripped with mockery as he eagerly slipped it into his pocket.

He didn’t know who this person was, but he was sure of one thing: he was standing in the way of him being with Kelsie.

Hence, he was already despising him.

Jett paid no heed to his sarcasm and instead pointed at the jaw with his eyes.

"You can thank me by leaving. You’re not even a resident here, but I’ve seen you here twice in the past two days."

A small smile tugged the corners of Serbian’s lips as he glanced around the reception. "You’re right..."

"I’m glad you’re one to see reason with things. Now leave." Jett hurriedly hummed in agreement, glad Serbian was one to read the room.

The thought had just formed in his mind when he heard the latter part of the man’s sentence.

"I’ll have a talk with the receptionist before leaving. It’ll be better to be closer to Kelsie."
