Chapter 97: Chapter 97 Keira, I Have A Plan!
Kelsie was lost in thought for several seconds before the touch of a cold hand on her face brought her back to the present.
"Mommy, your cheeks are so red. Did you come down with a cold?" Jesse’s brows creased worriedly as he moved his hand to her forehead.
Kelsie nodded with a forced smile, disappointed with herself for thinking about that jerk in such manner.
She pressed a finger against her temple and frowned slightly.
Maybe she was really sick. Only a sick person would think of him like that.
Making a mental note to get a brain scan brain later, she lowered herself to their level to give them a warning, "Don’t deceive your nanny into letting someone into the apartment again."
"Even if the person bears the same last name as me, don’t let them in. Have I made myself clear?"
The triplets nodded at once.
Keisie naturally wasn’t convinced.
But after giving them a stern look for some seconds, she leaned forward and kissed them on their temple.
"Should I tuck you into bed?"
As if on cue, all three shook their heads in refusal.
Kelsie paused.
"Why?"
Keira leaned forward and gently touched her face, saying a little too sweetly, "Isn’t mommy tired? You should rest and not let us stress you any more than we already have."
"Yes. Being deprived of sleep isn’t too good for mommy. You get grumpy when you don’t sleep." Zade hummed im agreement.
"Mommy should go to sleep now instead of waiting to tuck us in." Jesse was the last to chip in.
Their persuasions, which came one after the other like they planned it beforehand, convinced Kelsie even more they were up to something.
Nevertheless, she bade them good night and left.
As soon as they heard the door to her room close, Zade and Keira immediately put heads together.
"It’s not going well. At this rate, it’ll take us a few years to get them together." Said Zade worriedly.
"Tell me about it. They spent hours together, but mommy didn’t seem to be happy with him."
Beside them, Jesse smirked.
"What did I tell you? A man like that can’t possibly be mommy’s type. She’s way above his league!"
Zade scoffed, "You’ve not seen him before, how could you say that?"
"The pictures on the internet are enough for me to decide!" Jesse snickered, his eyes turned away from him.
The corners of Zade’s lips spasmed as he recalled the either blurry pictures or side profile pictures of Jett Adler filled on the internet.
All of a sudden, he thought of something and his eyes shot towards the roof.
"Keira, I have an idea..."
The next morning, after preparing them for school, Kelsie led them down to the parking lot.
Just as they were about to get into the car, Keira tugged the corners of her mother’s pant anxiously.
"Mommy, I forgot my writing materials."
Kelsie checked and truly, her writing materials were nowhere to be found. So she made them wait in the car and sauntered upstairs to get it.
The night before, Keira and Zade had hidden the bag containing the materials in a spot it’d take their mother a little longer than two minutes to find.
As soon as Kelsie left, Keira got out of the car and stood by the entrance of the apartment building.
A minute later, the tall and aloof man she was waiting for, strutted out of his personal elevator. fr\(e)ew(e)b.(n)o (v)(e)l.com
Upon seeing him, Keira ran to him and clung tightly to his leg.
Jett froze.
Eric Lance’s eyes widened in disbelief before he gently tried to get her off him.
However, the little girl held onto Jett tighter, refusing to let go.
As someone who didn’t like physical contact very much, Jett was starting to gett irritated.
Just as he reached out to pry her hands off him, she raised her clear eyes to look at him, pouting, "Bad daddy. How could you not come to see mommy and I at all? Do you hate us that much?"
As her words fell, she immediately burst into tears.
The sight of a child crying while clinging onto the leg of a man old enough to be her father was enough to draw attention from passing residents.
"She mustn’t want to go to school."
"Forcing her to go isn’t frowned upon, but why have the poor girl cling so tightly to his leg for support?"
"The least he can do is hold her up and comfort her. What a sight this is. Is he really her father?"
For the first time in his life, Jett was in a dilemma. Not because of their words, but because this was his first time dealing with a child.
How could he deal with a crying child mistaking him to be her father when he had never even dealt with a normal one before?
He lowered his eyes to look at her, pressing his lips together when he saw her straining to continue holding onto him.
After a moment of deliberation, he raised his eyes, asking in a raised voice, "Excuse me, whose child is this?"
"Don’t you know the consequence of letting your child run around the premises without their parent or guardian?"
Tears instantly pooled in Keira’s eyes and she bawled even harder.
"Daddy doesn’t want me? What a bad daddy!"
Then she released her grip on him, falling hard on her butt in the process.
The man’s heart ached slightly and he subconsciously reached out to comfort her, but she knocked his hand away, got up and ran off.
Ten seconds later, he slowly dropped his hand to his side, his eyes still pinned on the route she took.
"Whose child is she?"
"There are hundreds of children in the apartment building, Mr. Adler. She could belong to any one of the parents." Eric answered behind him.
Jett was silent for a moment before he continued to his car.
As his car drove out of the vicinity, Kelsie alighted from the elevator with Keira’s writing material bag.
She was gone for a miserly two minutes, hence, she didn’t suspect anything.
She dropped them off at school and drove back to the apartment building, but on her way, she finally recalled she silenced her phone before going to bed.
She waited until she was at the parking lot of the apartment building before she checked her phone only to see 23 missed calls from Jerry Sutton and 2 missed calls from Jade Callahan.
Naturally, the person she called back was Jade.
"Are you sure she went to medical school?" Jade signed once the call connected.
Kelsie paused, "Laura? Did something happen?"
Jade sucked in a deep breath, "After operating on the man with the battery stuck in his eyes, she insisted to be one of my assistants."
"While operating on the VIP, I turned away for a second and she nipped an artery! If something happens to the VIP, the hospital will be suing her and she’ll never practice neurosurgery again."
