Chapter 84: Chapter 84 Silicone Valley Will Soon Be A Mess
While Jade and her assistants prepared for the surgery, Laura left the room to meet Kelsie who was sitting outside.
She sat beside her and huffed.
"Don’t get your hopes high. You won’t be among the six students Prof. Callahan will be taking back with her."
Kelsie had long passed the position of being anyone’s student.
In fact, she had even passed Jade’s position after a short while of practicing medicine.
So she nodded in agreement to Laura’s words, "I know."
Naturally, Laura was obsessed with suppressing Kelsie. But having her outrightly agree she wouldn’t be among the six students didn’t sit well with Laura.
It didn’t sound like Kelsie was admitting it because of her limited knowledge. Instead, it sounded like something she didn’t want.
And Kelsie not wanting something Laura wanted so much was an insult to her.
The corner of her mouth twitched as she turned to face Kelsie properly.
"You can’t fool me I know you want it. So you don’t have to act like it bothers you that you won’t."
"But it’s good that you know your place. You may have temporarily saved that woman, but that isn’t enough to become a surgeon. You have to go to medical school."
"You are still young and can take the exam to get into university, but don’t bother. You were never very bright in school, so it will be a waste of your time."
Kelsie wasn’t offended by the belittling. She was used to it after all, but Laura was sounding so serious.
So she paused and turned to look at her as well, raising a questioning brow, "What is this? Do you suddenly care about me?"
Laura swept her tongue across her lips and continued, "Prof. Jade seems to have taken a liking to you because of what happened outside and may think you have a promising future."
"So I’m telling you now, if she ever offers you a position to be among those six people, turn it down. Tell her I’m better suited for the role since I studied neurosurgery in medical school."
"Everyone is eager to get close to the professor, but don’t make the poor judgement of accepting the offer."
"Our Sutton family can only bear so much disgrace because of you. If you suddenly kill someone as a practicing doctor, it’d be hard to contain. Do what I say if you know what is good for you."
At that moment, the door in front of them swung open.
Jade walked out first before the rest followed suit.
She merely glanced at Kelsie before she raised her nose high up in the air, ordering, "You two, follow my assistants and scrub in."
Kelsie immediately held her head and winced painfully.
"My head suddenly aches. I felt like I was about to die just now. I don’t think I’d be able to accompany you for the surgery, Prof. Callahan."
Jade was rendered speechless by the shamelessness of this young lady.
Years later and Kelsie still used the same excuse to avoid going into the operating room with her.
Were they the only ones in this corridor, she would’ve given Kelsie a painful knock on the head.
As she thought of this, she failed to restrain her hostile gaze as she glared at Kelsie.
Mistaking this to be anger towards her lousiness, Laura rejoiced inwardly, swiftly taking the chance to smear Kelsie’s reputation.
"Don’t be too upset with my sister. She has always been this lazy ever since we were children."
"Having just me in be operating room is more effective than having us both anyway. I’ll work twice as hard."
Jade briefly glanced at her.
After the humiliation she had tried to put Kelsie through inside, it didn’t take Jade long to figure out they weren’t exactly on good terms.
Furthermore, this Laura Sutton had a foul attitude. Fortunately for her, she wasn’t one to evaluate people’s skills based on their attitude.
She would wait until the end of the surgery to know what kind of person Laura Sutton was.
With that thought in mind, she turned and walked away without another word.
As soon as she did, Laura straightened up and sneered at Kelsie in contempt.
"This lazy behavior of yours is the reason you’ll continue being beneath me. If you’re having a headache, you ask for medicine."
"Prof. Jade will never take you seriously after this. Pray she doesn’t spread what happened to her colleagues."
After talking, she ran after Jade.
Almost immediately, the phone in Kelsie’s pocket buzzed and she took it out to see a text message from Callum Shaw asking her to meet.
Without wasting time, she sent a message to Jade Callahan and took a taxi to Haven Medical Center.
A minute later, Callum walked out with a piece of paper and handed it to her.
Kelsie ran her eyes through the content of the paper before she saw a line and squinted.
"Procaine? What does procaine have to do with anything?"
"They said it’s a needed ingredient for this new medicine."
"Our country has a law that procaine’s only use should be for anesthesia."
"Well, the other person who’s interested in the medicine is actually very powerful. If he doesn’t see any reason for procaine to be used, then he’d get a judge to sign off on it."
"You still don’t know who this person is?"
"Only the hospital’s higher-ups knows who he is."
Kelsie sighed and glanced around, quickly noticing the tense look on everyone’s face she had missed earlier.
"Is it just me or are the hospital staffs looking too nervous today?"
Callum sighed and slipped both hands into his pockets.
"The largest shareholder of Haven Medical Center is Jack Adler and the second largest is Jett Adler, his grandson."
"Yesterday’s afternoon, the Adler family’s doctor couldn’t make it to Mr. Adler’s home and sent a first-year from the hospital instead. But the first-year gave Jack Adler the wrong injection. He collapsed and went straight into coma."
"I hear they’ve done numerous scans and test, but they both keep showing that there’s nothing. Jett Adler has kept in the news for 24 hours."
"It’s only a matter of time before the press learn of it and come swarming in for more details."
"If the old man doesn’t wake up today, Silicone Valley will be a big mess for the next few days."
