Chapter 79: Chapter 79 Everyone In Silicone Valley Will Be Talking About Me

On her way to meet Jade Callahan, Deborah called Laura.

"Laura, you saw what happened yesterday, didn’t you? Your father is in a terrible mood as some people at the company are beginning to wag their tongues about him."

"At this rate, all he has to do is make one small mistake and the shareholders will ask for a new chairman."

"Your father can’t lose Lumen Group to those greedy old men and to Kelsie. So make sure to get on Prof. Callahan’s good side no matter what."

"I heard she’d be surrounded by some professors from respectable teaching hospitals and a few directors of every hospital she’ll be in."

"You need to ask questions and do things that’d impress them. So even if Prof. Callahan can’t help you, those with her will see for themselves how capable you are. Do you understand all that I’ve said?"

Laura hummed in understanding.

"Yes, mother. By the time I return today, everyone in Silicone Valley would be talking about me."

The duo spoke for a few more minutes before the call ended.

During this time, Kelsie alighted from a taxi outside the hospital.

Jade Callahan’s arrival had sparked a lot of interest in the city because of how renowned she was.

Hence, people whom hospitals had refused to operate on as the risk of them dying on the operating table were high, all came to the hospital and stood outside waiting for her.

And the wealthy ones who also had a low chance of surviving their surgeries, parked their cars outside the hospital waiting for her too.

Seeing how crowded the whole place was, Kelsie stood outside and whipped out her phone. But the second she did, Jade’s call came in.

"The traffic is bad. I think it’d take me a little longer than twenty minutes to get to the hospital. Are you there already?"

"Yes, and I’m already regretting why I came in the first place."

Jade chuckled softly.

"I didn’t know traffic would be this bad today or I would’ve lodged near the hospital last night. This extra twenty minutes is going to cost me."

"Isn’t there a place you can sit and wait for me? Maybe a coffee shop? How about you wait for me in the hospital’s cafeteria?"

Kelsie parted her lips to retort, but clamped it shut almost immediately when a shrill scream cut through the noisy air, catching everyone’s attention.

It was followed shortly after by a loud thud.

Her eyes instantly snapped to the direction of the scream to see a heavily pregnant woman lying unconscious in front of a jeep driving in.

"Did that pregnant woman just faint?"

"I think that car hit her just now."

"No, I think she was scared the car would hit her and fainted from shock."

"Someone call the hospital!"

Forgetting to end the call, Kelsie put away her phone and briskly strutted to the scene.

She squatted beside the woman to check her pulse and breathing.

Afterward, she raised her eyes, swiftly sweeping them across the place looking for a few things.

Finally, her eyes settled on a middle-aged woman holding an alcoholic drink at a corner, a child using a straw to sip his juice and a man cutting and eating roasted meat.

Without thinking twice, she got up to get the things from them.

Then she rushed back to the woman, crouched beside her again and began sterilizing the knife with the alcohol.

When she was done, she gently tilted the woman’s head to the left.

Being extremely gentle and fluid, she slowly felt her throat for her crocithyroid membrane before taking up the knife to make an incision.

It was all going smoothly until those around realized she was going to make an incision on the woman’s throat and began screaming at her.

"Who are you? Do you know what you’re doing at all?"

"You’re just a little girl, so you can’t possibly be a doctor. Don’t do anything rash and just wait for someone from the hospital to arrive!"

"If anything happens to this woman and her baby because of you, we will make sure you receive the punishment you deserve!"

Kelsie wasn’t one to explain herself unless she felt the need to. So she did what she always did and ignored them.

Moreover, she couldn’t afford to start explaining herself to them or this pregnant woman would die.

So she went ahead to make the incision. Pressing down on it with a finger to reduce the bleeding, she quickly sterilized the straw with the alcohol and stuck it into her throat.

To the astonishment of everyone, the woman whose chest had been still a moment again, began heaving again and the colour which had drained from her face, returned.

But seeing the bleeding from the incision, they quickly forgot what Kelsie had just done and grew angry at her again.

"Doesn’t excess bleeding lead to death? We specifically told you not to touch her!"

"She fainted in front of a hospital, the staffs would be outside in a few minutes, but you just had to cut her with a knife! Who do you think you are?!"

"Are you even a doctor? Tell us the truth, do you hold a grudge against this woman and wish her bad? Or were you sent to kill her?"

"Someone call the police. There’s everything suspicious about this girl. We can’t let her slip out after murdering this woman!"

Once again, Kelsie didn’t spare them a glance.

As long as no one came to stop her, she didn’t care what they said. Her primary concern was this woman and her baby.

To reduce the bleeding, she slightly elevated the woman’s head, reducing the blood flow to her neck area.

Identifying the specific bleeding vessel, she tugged at her own hair and carefully tied the vessel.

It was at this moment that the owner of the jeep, after spending the past ten minutes panicking inside, rushed out of the car and roughly shoved her aside.

Kelsie, who hadn’t expected someone to suddenly do so, almost fell to the ground.

"What do you think you’re doing? Get away from her!" The person who pushed her yelled out in a prickly, but familiar voice.

Kelsie immediately frowned, and raised her eyes to look at the person.

Her frown deepened when she saw it was Laura Sutton.

Laura paused to glance at her as well and sneered in contempt as soon as she recognized her, "What were you planning to do? Do you think this is hacking that you can succeed with just luck?"

"One wrong move and you kill this woman. How dare you even think of touching her when you don’t know anything about her condition?!"

Then she arrogantly looked away from her and spoke reassuringly to the people in a raised voice.

"Everyone, stand back a bit! I am a studying neurosurgeon. I’ll take care of this woman before someone from the hospital comes!"
