Chapter 61 Kelsie Vs Laura
Chapter 61: Chapter 61 Kelsie Vs Laura
Laura was frantically thinking of what to say to save herself from getting eliminated when she heard Zoe and snorted heavily.
"You’re not just terrible at programming, you’re also terrible at lying. Saying my sister wrote the program is equivalent to saying the sky is purple. And we all know that will never be!"
Zoe nervously bit down on her lower lip and turned to face Laura, her eyes lowered to the floor as she did.
"Why would I lie about that?"
Laura’s lips twitched as she sneered, "Because you’re about to be disqualified from the contest and probably won’t be able to join any in the future."
"Right now, you’ll say whatever you can think of to prevent that from happening. Even if it means telling such an unbelieving lie!"
The inspector standing in front of them was barely able to contain his anger after hearing Zoe the first time.
Saying the program was hers wasn’t enough, she now dared to mock them by saying it was the most unlikely person in the contest who wrote it.
He slowly balled his hands into a tight fist and before anyone knew it...
Bang!
He slammed his fist against Zoe’s desk, causing her and everyone else who hadn’t expected him to do such a thing, to flinch in fear.
Then he raised his eyes and yelled into her face, "Why keep on lying when we already know the truth? We’re letting you off easily, is that why you think we will let you continue to mock us?"
"Listen, not only will you be disqualified from this contest, we will also make sure you will never be able to join any other contest and competition hosted in Silicon Vallry ever again!"
Seconds after the words fell, the rest of the contestants began snorting in agreement.
"Serves her right! How dare she say a noob who barely knows anything about programming could create something so difficult!"
"Good riddance. I was tired of hearing her name whenever I attended a contest anyway."
"A liar like her who can say anything to help herself shouldn’t find a job in any sector. If she could tell such a lie here, what kind of lie can she not tell?"
"You’re right. I’ll warn people about her when I go home tonight."
Kelsie could no longer remain silent seeing how the situation was quickly escalating.
What she thought would be a good stepping stone for Zoe was about to ruin her life.
She gently massaged the space in-between her brows and spoke up, "She’s right. It was me."
A sudden hush fell over the room.
The audience outside, who were whispering amongst each other, instantly froze.
The sponsors upstairs, who were smiling smugly at the thought of ripping Jett Adler of his money, also froze.
Kelsie didn’t leave any chance for anyone to come for her as she directly got up and walked to the middle of the room whilst flexing her fingers.
Zoe saw this and immediately made way for her.
She sat down and stared at the computer for several seconds before she raised her eyes to meet the inspector’s and sighed softly, "When I saw the time was about to elapse, I panicked and began writing whatever came to mind."
"Never did I imagine it would turn out to be something that would catch the attention of experienced people like you three."
"I also panicked when you asked which one of us created the program as I thought you were going to eliminate me from the contest for writing gibberish."
Her words made numerous people furrow their brows in surprise as they confirmed they weren’t hearing things.
This idle person?
This idle noob was the creator of such an ingenious program?
Sure, she sat up and appeared to focus on her computer for some time, but that was only for a few minutes.
So they just assumed she played a game on it. After all, the geniuses in this room couldn’t even reverse engineer the task in one hour.
But now she was suddenly saying she created the code, why would they believe such nonsense!
Laura Sutton scoffed in irritation when she heard Kelsie and eyed her in contempt.
"Have you no shame coming forward to say something like that?"
"If I, the creator of the program couldn’t remember it the second time I tried to write it, why would a noob like you know anything about it?"
Kelsie didn’t respond immediately as she glanced at the time on her wristwatch, a small frown settling on her face. f|ree(w)ebn\o.vel.com
It was 9pm already. She hadn’t planned to stay out this late. Unfortunately, Laura Sutton chose to be a flesh in her thorn.
Had she just kept her mouth shut and not interfered with everything she said and did, they would’ve been half-way done with the contest by now.
She no longer had the time to go back and forth with Laura and directly placed her hand on the keyboard, going straight to the point.
"Let’s spare each other these meaningless talks and see if I’m really the creator."
Laura wasn’t alarmed like she was with Zoe and merely scoffed at her audacity.
With Kelsie, she had her guard down and was looking forward to humiliating her. She had anticipated this scene so many times in the past.
So without dey, she nodded in agreement.
"Of course. If you lose to me, you’ll say to everyone’s hearing how big of a loser you are and aplogize for wasting everyone’s time. You will also withdraw from this contest immediately. Do you agree with my terms?"
Kelsie hummed without hesitation, "Sure. If you lose to me, you’ll be the one doing all these things."
Laura almost snickered in disdain, but recalling where she was, held herself back.
"One more thing, which one of us that loses will crawl out of this room into the audience. Do you still accept, sister?"
"As long as you also accept to do everything you’ve listed out if you lose to me." Once again, Kelsie agreed with hesitation.
Even though it looked like a family feud, the inspectors really wanted to know who between the two sisters wrote the program.
Hence, they paid no heed to the sparks flying around and kickstarted the second mini-competition for the evening.
"You have one hour to write the same program. Your time starts now."
