Chapter 195: Chapter 195 I Was Paid To Kill Her
"Mr. Adler?" The boss was slightly taken aback. fr.eew eb novel..com
He then looked the grim-faced Jett over, his eyes naturally darting to Eric who was standing beside him.
Just like everyone in Silicone Valley, he had heard the rumors of how Jett Adler was inseparable from his assistant, Eric Lance.
So seeing someone who matched the description of Eric Lance, he quickly realized the man standing before him wasn’t just any member of the Adler family, he was the most powerful member.
Straightening off, he flashed a bright smile Jett’s way, "To what do I owe this very appreciated visit, Mr. Adler?"
"Get away from her." Jett merely retorted, eyes scanning the race track for Kelsie.
A glance from the boss and the burly man released his hold on Zoe.
She quickly stepped to the side and lifted the plank provocatively, but no one paid her any attention.
Slipping both hands into his pocket, Jett’s impatient eyes snapped towards the boss.
"A woman was here, where is she?"
Instead of answering his question, the boss also slipped both hands into his pocket, going ahead to introduce himself.
"Mr. Adler, my name’s Aaron Patel. Never did I think a lowly fry like me. But if you don’t mind me asking, this woman you ask of, of what importance is she to you?"
Jett’s eyes darkened and he was about to sneer when Zoe choked, tears welling in her eyes as she answered instead.
"Team leader was going to pay my debt, but he refused to take her money. This wretched man said it was a tradition to pay my debt by racing against some professional racers."
"At first, she didn’t do very well, but on the second lap, she came in second place. I think they got scared thinking she’d come in first place because on the last lap, team leader said some racers were trying to push her off the cliff."
"Then the line disconnected and I heard a crashing sound. Just a minute ago, one of the racers affirmed she had skidded down the cliff and... her car was on fire."
By this time, Jett and Eric had both taken off their suit jackets and tossed it on the ground.
But Aaron Patel wasn’t fazed one bit by the sight of this powerful, angry men.
He was right not to given he had over twenty men with him at the race track.
Outside this race track, Jett was a powerful man with immense influence, but away from civilization, he was nothing in his eyes.
Wiping the blood pooling over his left eye, Aaron didn’t bother denying what he had done and smirked arrogantly.
"I stand to reason we could be really good friends, so think twice before you do what you’re about to."
Jett didn’t say a word and Eric grabbed a pipe lying around.
Realizing these men really had no plan to talk this through with him, Aaron shook his head in disappointment and stepped backward.
"You’re used to being feared and in control, I get it. But look around, this is not the city. Here, you have no power and you’re greatly outnumbered."
"Maybe once my men beat you to a pulp, you’ll be more open to converse like the reasonable man I’ve heard you are."
Then he stood back and watched his men confidently rush toward the duo.
Aaron laughed mockingly, quickly concluding Jett was a finished man when he wouldn’t take his hands out of his pockets.
But the smile on his face withered the very next second when Eric swung the pipe.
Before his men could get into the same breathing space as Jett, Eric whipped them unconscious.
Those he managed to miss, Jett took care of with his legs.
By the time they were standing a few meters away from Aaron, every man with him, except the burly man, had either fallen unconscious or were rolling all over the ground, holding different parts of their body in pain.
Aaron was a little shaken, but when he saw he still had the burly man, he huffed and shoved him forward.
"This is our turf. Pompous pricks like him have no right trespassing like they own the place!"
"Yes, s..."
Crack!
The words were yet out of the burly man’s mouth when Jett’s foot connected with the side of his neck, knocking him out instantly.
Seeing this, the beaten racers on the ground, who were planning to sneak up on Jett, trembled in fear and laid down again.
Aaron blinked in disbelief, taking a step backward as one of his hands slyly reached for the passenger door handle of his car.
"These are not the only men I have. If you touch me, I will...argh!"
He winced in pain wben Jett grabbed him tightly by the jaw.
Staring down at him, Jett said the obvious, "They’ll be nothing left of your stupid little race gang when I’m done with you. I will make sure no one mentions the name of your gang without shivering in fear."
Aaron clenched his jaw tightly and said defiantly.
"I’m not telling you anything."
"I never planned to ask." Jett nodded in understanding and stretched his hand toward Zoe who quickly handed him her plank.
"What do you plan to..." Aaron was saying, but instantly gasped for air when Jett slammed it into his abdomen.
His knees buckled in pain and he was about to drop to the floor when Jett held him up with one hand.
"You killed a mother of three."
Crack!
"Killing you isn’t enough."
Crack!
"When I’m done ruining you, you’ll beg for death."
Crack!
"Don’t hit me anymore. I’ll tell you who sent me."
"Why? I can always find them on my own. For now, I just need you to die."
"No way you’ll really kill me."
"Oh?" The corners of Jett’s lips curled up into a mocking smile.
"Eric, hold him. I don’t need him wiggling around when I beat him to death."
"No, wait! Please, I’ll do whatever you ask ne to. Anything!"
Jett laughed coldly and poked him with the wood, "What could you possibly have that I don’t already have?"
"Oh, yes, you were one of the many last people to see Kelsie alive. In that case, I’ll take your life first."
"Someone hand me something sharp." Zoe eagerly handed him her hairpin.
"Please don’t do this! It was wrong of me! I should never have agreed to kill a defenseless woman! I’ll do better! Please I’ll do better!"
Jett was just about to stick the needle into his eyes when a surprised voice came from behind them.
"Someone paid you to kill me?"
