Chapter 173 Tension In VIP Ward
Chapter 173: Chapter 173 Tension In VIP Ward
Daniel knew Kelsie was a doctor. But he didn’t know about Kelsie being in this hospital and most importantly, that she was his grandfather’s doctor.
Hence, he had his guard down and didn’t bother to hide his face.
As he deliberated on what move to make, his eyes not leaving the chess board, Jack glanced towards the people stepping into the room.
"Mr. Reynolds, Dr. Sutton. You’re both here. I don’t like it very much when more than two people in white lab coats are in the room with me. You’re here to announce something pertaining to my health, aren’t you?"
"You have a Dr. Sutton? The name isn’t quite common so I find it surprising that I’m meeting someone else bearing..." Daniel was saying, lifting his eyes towards Kelsie and Kelvin, but immediately choked on his saliva when he saw her face.
He choked so hard his eyes reddened, and he had to pound his chest a few times before he could breath normally again.
At this, one of the doctors stepped forward to help him, but he calmly waved him aside and pointed a shaky finger at Kelsie.
"Ms. Sutton, your skin seems to glow even more today, but what are you doing here?"
Jack turned to him in surprise. "Do you know this woman?"
Daniel blinked twice, then retorted curiously, "Why? Do you know her? How do you know her?"
Jack pursed his lips seeing how quickly Daniel avoided the question. He was silent for a while before he answered, "She’s the doctor I told yoy about."
"Your new doctor? The one who you said saved you from drowning that day while everyone lashed out at her to leave you to die?" Daniel blurted out in surprise.
Jack had told this story one too many times that he already knew it by heart.
As soon as Jack nodded, Daniel clapped his hands excitedly.
"I knew there was a reason I liked you! Now I have two reasons to like you. You’re so cool, Ms. Sutton!"
He spoke with so much vigor, but Kelsie only stared at him blankly, her face devoid of any emotion before she lowered her eyes slightly.
But that only made Daniel’s heart sink to the pit of his stomach in fear.
"Don’t be like that, Ms. Sutton! If anyone should be doing that, it’s be me. I mean, you saved my grandfather and even gave our Adler family the privilege of... I mean, we’re so honored that you came into our life."
Kelvin and Jack caught on to something, the same thing.
Admiration.
The intense admiration for Kelsie oozing out of Daniel. But they were quick to misapply it.
Kelsie forced on a small smile, saying through clenched teeth, "I did what I could do as a doctor. Any doctor with a sense of duty would’ve done the same."
Daniel flashed her a nervous smile and fidgeted with a chess piece with shaky hands.
Kelvin squinted his eyes at him while Jack’s pupils dilated.
Could it be... they liked each other?
His grandson wasn’t one to act like this around women, but he was actually lowering his eyes to the floor and fidgeting with a chess piece?
He was nervous!
And Kelsie, she was clearly playing the same game with him.
Now, there was no doubt about it. These two were certainly into each other!
At this, he pressed his lips into a thin line, a deep frown creeping into his face.
Two of his grandsons were in-love with one woman. To make it worse, they were brothers and not even cousins.
As he sighed inwardly, Kelvin Reynolds took a step forward, cutting in with a polite smile, "I’m sorry to cut your discussion short, but something important came up and Dr. Sutton would have to undergo an internal evaluation."
"But you have nothing to worry about. As soon as I leave your ward, a different and better doctor will come in to introduce himself."
Jack lifted his eyes to look at him.
"Did Dr. Sutton kill someone?"
"No, sir."
"Did she diagnose someone with the wrong illness?"
"Not at all."
"Does she not get along with her colleagues and patients?"
"It’s none of the above, sir."
"If she didn’t do any of them, then there’s absolutely no reason for her to undergo an internal evaluation."
Kelvin paused, the smile on his face turning ugly seeing Jack casually try to dismiss the issue.
"I didn’t want to burden you with this, sir, but the hospital cares about appearances and we have a reputation to maintain."
"You see, we found out something horrible about Dr. Sutton from a famous woman named Maria Santos."
Calvin hummed from the side, quickly chiming in, "Everyone in the field knows she’s the epitome of truth. She doesn’t say things she isn’t sure of and she always has a reliable source.
"Even ones that people were sure weren’t right when she first said them, turned out to be true after a week weeks."
Calvin calmly nodded, continuing, "We do not know if she’s saying the truth, but it’s only normal that we investigate the source."
Listening to them babble for a few seconds with such serious faces, Jack’s interest was piqued.
"So what is this horrible thing she said about Dr. Sutton?"
Kelvin hesitated, briefly glancing at Kelsie as though he was heavily weighing whether to say something.
Several seconds later, he sighed sadly and began, "Maria Santos found she’s a homophobic woman who’s actually in the closest. She’s a lesbian who bashes other women for loving each other, while in secret she does the..."
A cold snort cut him off at this moment.
"Don’t spout nonsense. I’ve known Ms. Sutton for half a year and I can tell you one thing with conviction, she’s straighter than a pole. Otherwise, how do you explain what happened with..."
The words were halfway out of Daniel’s mouth before he realized where he was and quickly cut himself off.
The room was instantly engulfed in silence.
