Chapter 141 School Violence
Chapter 141: Chapter 141 School Violence
The doctor finally turned to look at her, slightly taken aback when he saw the identity badge pinned to her coat’s left pocket.
"If he was fine this morning, then his fever must be as a result of his injuries."
She clenched her jaw, her empty eyes meeting his, "I know that much."
He sighed, then lowered himself to take a closer look at the injuries.
"I doubt this was an accident. Otherwise, why wasn’t he taken to the school’s infirmary? 100 percent sure it’s school violence. I suggest you go to his school to ask what..."
He slowly trailed off when he turned to her again only to realize she was no longer in the room with him.
Turning to the intern beside him, he instructed, "Clean and dress his wounds then give him antibiotics."
Inside the women’s restroom in the left wing, Kelsie stoically stared at herself in the mirror.
Holding the sink tightly, a lump formed in her throat and the corners of her eyes stung a little.
She leaned towards the sink, one hand holding it firmly while her other hand pounded her chest in pain.
She was in the middle of breaking down when three girls with lab coats walked to stand beside her, re-applying their makeups and paying no heed to the woman with her face lowered to the sink.
"My friend in neurosurgery said that woman earlier was really Dr. Sutton. So she always left work every afternoon to pick him up from school."
"I don’t think she’s married though. Women are never secretive about their marriage and child. It’s the first thing they flaunt to strangers. She must’ve had him out of wedlock."
"Given the situation, I believe you. But didn’t people say she has a boyfriend who visits her everyday? What if he’s the father of her child?"
"As someone who has been in countless relationships, I can tell they just started dating. Why else would he be all over her like this? I’m 90 percent sure he doesn’t know his girlfriend has a child."
"So she’s lying to his face. What a scary woman."
The washroom instantly fell silent when Kelsie raised her head to wash her hand.
They were still residents so it was only right they were scared straight when an established surgeon caught them badmouthing her.
Without thinking twice, they grabbed their makeups and hurriedly left the washroom.
Kelsie paid no heed to them as she absentmindedly washed her hands for several until someone turned off the tap.
"It’s not your fault."
She finally snapped out of her daze hearing the masculine voice.
"What are you doing? This is the female restroom."
Jett ignored and slowly inched towards her, pulling her head down to rest on his body, then gently patted her on the back as he repeated, "It’s not your fault."
"What do you think you’re doing?" She snorted and pushed him away, but he only pushed her head to rest on his chest again, running his fingers through her hair affectionately.
"Schools are closed for the day and only the security who live inside are there at the moment."
"Where does he school? I’ll bring out their security and burn down the building, then file a complaint with the ministry of education."
Kelsie’s body instinctively relaxed as his deep voice reverberated through him.
But she couldn’t help narrowing her eyes at the repeated use of the word ’he’.
He?
Right.
Wherever Jett saw Jesse, he must have no idea she didn’t give birth to one child, but three.
How unfortunate that her first son was the person he saw and not Zade. Now it was only a matter of time before he realizes she had triplets.
He became even more clingy after finding out about Jesse. It would get even worse once he finds out she had two more.
It was suffocating just thinking about it.
Taking her silence for defiance, Jett lowered his eyes to stare at the middle of her head.
"Don’t deny it anymore, Ms. Sutton. We’re in a hospital, don’t make me get a DNA test. My grandfather is the largest shareholder here. He’ll certainly be alerted if I run a DNA test."
"Forget the marriage certificate we signed at the court, you’d become his grand-daughter-in-law by tomorrow ."
Then he leaned backward and held her gently by the shoddier.
"Our son is a member of the Adler family. A direct descendant. it’s only right that I..."
Kelsie’s eyes dimmed slightly as she interrupted, "Sutton. He’s not an Adler. He’s a Sutton."
Then she walked past him without another word.
A moment later, he followed behind her.
"Sutton, Adler, I honestly couldn’t care less which one he bears. But he’s my son and the blood of an Adler runs in his veins."
"Schools don’t beat up children even if they did something wrong. They just give them a punishment."
Kelsie halted and turned to glare at him.
He halted as well and looked away, his eyes darting everywhere except in her direction.
"What is it? What did I say wrong?"
"I already said I’ll take care of it, Mr. Adler." She said stoically and turned to continue on her way.
Only then did he return his eyes to her, mumbling to himself as he watched her disappear into a corner.
"I love the way she scowls at me. How can one be so cute. And why do I have a feeling I’m finished?"
It was at this moment that Eric walked up to him with some polaroid photos.
"I looked into it like you asked."
Jett took the photos, the corners of his curling into a wicked grin as he went through them.
Meanwhile, Kelsie had rushed back to the emergency room and was directed to Jesse ward.
She first checked his temperature then took a peek at the wound dressing before taking her seat beside him.
She had just taken her seat when her phone began buzzing in her pocket.
It had buzzed numerous times in the past thirty minutes so she didn’t need a soothsayer to tell her it was Keira and Zade.
Without look at the caller, she answered the call and pressed the phone against her ear.
"Mommy, is Jesse alright?" Keira’s croaky voice came up as soon as the call connected, evidence that she had been bawling her eyes out.
Keira’s heart dropped to the pit of her stomach as she sighed heavily. "Did you cry? Why would you cry so much that your voice changed like this? Don’t you know that as long as your brother is with me, he’ll be fine?"
The words had just rolled off her tongue when Zade’s came up, filled with anger.
"It’s because of that teacher."
Kelsie was instantly taken aback. "What?"
"Teacher? What teacher?" Keira asked as well, just as puzzled as her mother.
"Mommy." Zade called out seriously, his voice sounding louder as he seemed to have moved the phone closer to his lips. "There’s a teacher in our school who acts out. He treats our female teachers however he likes."
"And whenever he has lessons in my class, he always makes mention of this one girl and how she’s lousy because she was raised by her mother. I don’t like him at all and so does Jesse."
Keira smacked her lips in realization, chipping in, "Huh? Are you talking of Mr. Davidson? I don’t like him either. "
"Once, my teacher took me to the restroom. She met some other teachers on the way and they spoke about how bad of a misogynist he was."
"The complexity of that word made me remember it. But I don’t know what a misogynist is."
"Jesse told me once. He said a misogynist is a man who..." Zade was explaining when Kelsie cleared her throat noisily, interrupting him.
"Don’t you have homeworks to do? Mommy will be home early today. You should sleep and rest so you’ll have enough energy to play with Jesse later."
"Okay, mommy! Take care of yourself and Jesse!" The simple-minded Keira hummed in agreement, instantly forgetting Zade was just saying something.
They ended the call.
Kelsie stayed with Jesse for an hour before she left to check on the patient with the brain swelling.
Ten minutes after she left, a certain man slipped into Jesse’s ward.
The pediatrician who treated him was in the ward at that moment, so he naturally turned around when he heard someone come in.
However, he saw it was a man and not the boy’s mother.
Turning his attention back to Jesse, he gently waved Jett off.
"Wrong ward, sir."
Jett walked to stand behind him.
Jesse, who had been awake for the past seven minutes, saw Jett and his eyes shook slightly, but he had no strength in his arms to get up, so he frowned at him instead.
When he was done with Jesse, the pedestrian turned to Jett with a tight frown.
"Did you not hear me, sir?"
The man slipped both hands into his pockets and stared him down.
"Look at me properly. Does this face look like I came into the wrong ward?"
The doctor paused, stared at Jesse and then Jett.
When he saw the acute resemblance, he lowered his head in apology.
"Forgive me. Dr. Sutton didn’t inform me the boy’s father would be coming to see him."
Jett scoffed irritably.
"What are you talking about? Only an irresponsible father won’t come to see his son who’s been admitted into the hospital."
"My apologies. I’ll leave the room to let you two talk." The doctor grimaced and left.
As soon as the door closed behind him, Jesse hissed in contempt.
"You’re even more shameless than I thought."
Although amused, Jett took his seat and chided him.
"Hey, where are your manners? I know your mother taught you well, so don’t talk like that."
A flicker of emotion flashed past Jesse’s eyes as he seemed to recall something.
"She’s worried, isn’t she?"
Jett hummed.
"Of course she is. If you were getting bullied by that excuse of a teacher, you could’ve just come to me."
"How could you even think of defending another child when you’re still just a child? Now look how worried you made your mother."
Jesse blinked, a trace of panic flashing past his eyes when he realized Jett knew what happened.
"Don’t tell my mommy that’s what happened. She’ll... she won’t be happy."
Jett thinned his lips, recalling he couldn’t even tell on Jesse.
"Well, you’re not the only one who messed up. I guess I passed my impulsiveness to you. She doesn’t even want to see my face."
"I knew it. You’re not just shameless, you can’t even make my mommy happy." Jesse spat out, not bothering to hide his disgust.
Jett didn’t know when he gasped, unable to believe he was being talked down to by a child. But at the same time, he couldn’t exactly deny it.
The next second, he returned his eyes to Jesse, staring at him blankly.
The boy moved uncomfortably on the bed before he snapped, "What is it? Why does it look like you’re getting worried?"
Jett sucked in a deep breath as he retorted, "This teacher, he doesn’t have a head full of hair."
"I’m worried your mother won’t be able to properly teach him a lesson tomorrow since there’s no hair to pull."
