Chapter 136: Chapter 136 ‘Snitching’ To Daddy

Adler Group was in shambles.

Those in the IT Department panicked as Jett walked into their office.

"What did you say happened?"

The department director hurried towards him looking apologetic.

"According to those who were on night shift, their computers suddenly went off in the middle of the night, but came up ten seconds later."

"They checked to be sure it was just a computer malfunction before going back to work."

"Only for those on morning shift to resume this morning to find the computers all blind. We brought in our company’s technicians to check the computers and they confirmed it hadn’t gone blind or anything."

The corners of Jett’s lips spasmed as he slipped both hands into his pocket.

"So in other words, you don’t know what happened."

The director lowered his eyes again.

"Forgive me, President Adler. I’ve gone through every computer in this room and there’s no single sign them getting hacked."

"Not only did they swear to me they hadn’t opened any link yesterday, I also didn’t find anything when I looked through their trash."

Jett shot him a stern gaze.

"Hey, this is the IT Department and your job is to make sure the hundreds of employees in this company can use their computers."

"Right now, they’re all staring at a blank screen. Do you think I pay you so much to sit on your hands while something like this happens?"

The room was silent for a moment before Eric walked to Jett’s side to suggest, "Sir, why don’t we get new computers while we have another group of technicians take a look at the computers?"

The words had just rolled off his tongue when letters suddenly began appearing on every computer in the building, the exact same sentence and at the same time.

It read, "Sure. Do whatever you want. I hope when I hack into those ones as well, President Adler will buy more for me to hack into."

A pin-drop silence instantly engulfed the entire room.

The employees who hadn’t expected that they could actually be getting spied on, instantly covered the cameras of their computers in horror.

"W-we were really hacked? This was the work of a hacker? What... how? Who’s this hacker and how were they able to..."

One of the employees suddenly shuddered in realization.

"Director, have you heard of the Invisible Web?"

While the direction shook his head in confusion, some of the employees began nodding their heads in agreement.

"Isn’t that the name of the virus which hacked the computers of a conglomerate family’s company a few years ago?"

"Yes, I heard it that. That hacker had hacked into the computers in the company’s main branch."

"I heard he didn’t do it for nothing though. That conglomerate family were involved in some illegal scheme which claimed the lives of hundreds of children."

"I heard that story too. Apparently, the hacker asked them to compensate the families of the children then turn themself over to the authorities, but they refused."

"Those rotten dimwits even dared him to do his worst. So what did he do? Spilled everything he knew about the conglomerate family and the secret to their success to thr netizens."

"Everything pretty much went downhill for them after that. Without their money, they couldn’t protect themselves and were taken by angry mobs. Had the police not intervened when they did, those people would’ve died."

For a moment, they all forgot the issue at hand and silently praised the hacker while the department’s director shuddered in horror.

"So you’re saying that same hacker targeted the Adler Group? Why? We pay the most taxes in the country!"

Someone was about to say something, but pressed his lips shut when Jett took a step forward.

He walked to one of the computers, took off the covers and peered into the camera.

"You can see me, can’t you? So what do you want? Surely you didn’t take my company hostage to play games with me?"

Five seconds later, new words began appearing on the screen and everyone read it with rapt attention.

"I don’t want your money."

Jett scoffed. "Out of the hundreds of companies in our country, you chose mine. If you don’t want money, wha then do you want?"

His reply came almost immediately, "Stay away from my mommy."

"Mommy? What is wrong with this punk? Why act so matured and scary only to act like a 6-year-old?" An employee didn’t know when he blurted out in ridicule only to wince in pain the next second when a colleague smacked him hard on the head.

"Shut your mouth! If you happen to annoy him and he releases everything he has on Adler Group to the netizens, that’ll be the end of us, you idiot."

The reprimanded employee blinked and bowed to Jett apologetically.

"My apologies, sir."

His colleague smacked him again.

"What are you doing? Mr. Adler isn’t the hacker. Apologize while looking into your computer’s camera!"

The person promptly turned to apologize into his camera. fre ewebno(v)e\l.(c)om

"Sir, please forgive me. Forgive me for saying those stupid rings earlier."

Meanwhile, Jett was feeling a little nostalgic.

Mommy?

Why did he read the text in the voice of the kid who kicked him outside the apartment building yesterday?

But the next second, he sighed softly. No, he was hallucinating that boy. Kelsie made him realize that already.

Someone must’ve overheard him ranting to her yesterday and decided to use it against him.

Looking into the camera again, he exhaled impatiently.

"How much do you want? You don’t have to beat around the bush to make me see you’re worth it before naming your price."

"Whatever amount you call now, I won’t argue with you and just send it into whatever account you send to me."

"But in return, you should tell me your name and promise not to mess with my company again, do we understand each other?"

Angry words instantly appeared on the screen.

"Don’t tell me what to do! I’m the one with your company’s life in my hands. If I see you anywhere near my mommy again, like how you carried her..."

Jesse was quick to realize his mistake and immediately deleted the revealing five words, but Jett’s eyes was pinned on the screen too intently not to have seen and read them.

His eyes suddenly dimmed in realization.

"Eric."

"Sir?" Eric instantly appeared beside him.

"Have our Adler Group sue Ms. Sutton."

"On it, si... what? Sue Ms. Sutton? Did you make a mistake?" Eric had already taken out his phone to make the call when he realized.

Ms. Sutton? Kelsie Sutton? The same woman security had told him they saw Jett happily carrying into the apartment building?

He had finally come to terms with that woman winning his boss’ heart and was going to be nice to her now, but all of a sudden Jett was suing her?

What a heartache.

Jett turned to look him in the eyes, seething.

"Yes, Kelsie Sutton, the woman renting floor 49 in the apartment building. That woman has been playing me for a fool. Sue her right now for taking advantage of me seven years ago!"
