Oops Alpha, Wrong Luna -
Chapter 38
Chapter 38: Chapter 38
Aria’s POV.
Celeste’s words hit me like a punch, her voice sharp and loud in the hall. "Well, guess who isn’t supposed to be Luna!" she snapped, her blue eyes glinting with hate, her jaw tight.
I squinted, my heart pounding, my hands clenching as I glared back, my wolf Kyra growling low, her anger hot in my chest.
I was pretending to be Celeste, my twin sister, the Luna of the Shadow Claw pack, hiding my real name, Aria.
Celeste was using my name, acting like Aria, and her words were a threat, a knife aimed at my heart.
The maids around us gasped, their whispers loud, their eyes wide with shock.
"She’s got no respect," one muttered, their voices turning against Celeste, thinking she was me, the now disrespectful sister.
My chest tightened, rage and fear mixing, my breath short.
The senior guard, a tall man with gray hair, pushed through the crowd, his face stern, his voice booming.
"Everyone out!" he ordered, his hand waving, his eyes hard.
The maids scurried, their footsteps quick, their whispers fading as they left the hall, the doors shutting with a heavy thud.
The room was quiet now, just me and Celeste, the air thick with tension, the tables still covered with flowers and white cloth for the charity event.
My heart raced, my hands trembling, Kyra urging me to stand strong. I wasn’t the weak Aria Celeste used to bully, not anymore. I was Luna, and I’d show her.
"You think you can mock me?" I said, my voice low, sharp, stepping closer, my eyes locked on hers.
"You’re not in charge here, Celeste." My smile was cold, my heart pounding with defiance.
I’d heard the news last night; Celeste sneaking into Kael’s study, trying to seduce him, only to have him grab her neck, nearly choke her.
I laughed, loud and sharp, my voice echoing. "You thought you could seduce Alpha Kael? You? That’s brave, sister, but stupid."
My words were mean, my smile wide, satisfaction warm in my chest as her face turned red, her eyes flashing with rage.
Celeste’s hands clenched, her voice shaking with fury. "I see you’re sharp-tongued now, Aria," she said, her words venomous, her step closer, her breath hot.
"But don’t forget, I have you in the palm of my hand. I can crush you anytime." Her smile was cruel, her eyes glinting, and my heart skipped, fear creeping in, Kyra growling louder, ready to fight.
I stepped closer, my voice steady, my eyes fierce. "You don’t own me, Celeste," I said, my hands shaking but my words strong.
"You never did." My chest heaved, my anger burning, years of her taunts, her cruelty, pushing me to stand tall.
I was done being her shadow, done letting her walk over me. I was Luna now, and she’d feel it.
Her smile widened, sinister, her voice low, dangerous. "Yes, I do, Aria," she said, leaning in, her words like a blade.
"I can’t wait to see their faces when they realize you’re nothing but the wrong Luna, standing beside the Alpha!" Her words froze me, my breath catching, my heart stopping.
The hall went silent, the air heavy, her threat sinking deep. She knew my secret, knew I was pretending to be her which they clearly forced me to, and if she told anyone, my life, Alpha Kael’s trust, my place as Luna... would crumble.
My hands trembled, fear choking me, Kyra whining, her strength faltering.
But before I could respond, the doors creaked open, the sound sharp, and Seraphina walked in, her blonde hair glowing in the light, her green eyes glinting with malice.
My heart jumped, my breath hitching, my eyes wide as I stared at her. She was Kael’s foster sister, always cruel, always watching, and now she stood there, her face blank, no expression, no words.
Had she heard? Did she know I was Aria, not Celeste? My chest tightened, panic rising, my legs shaky.
If Seraphina heard Celeste’s words, if she knew my secret, everything was over. Kyra whimpered, her fear matching mine, urging me to run.
I couldn’t stay, couldn’t face her silent stare, her knowing eyes. "I have to go," I said, my voice small, shaky, my hands clenching as I turned, my steps quick, almost running.
Celeste’s laugh followed me, low and mean, her satisfaction clear. I pushed through the doors, the hall blurring, my heart pounding, my breath short.
The packhouse was quiet, the stone walls cold, the torches flickering as I ran to my room, my heels loud, my shawl slipping from my shoulders.
I burst into the room, the door slamming behind me, and sank onto the edge of the bed, my hands shaking, my chest heaving. I gasped, my breath hitching, my mind reeling.
"Did she hear anything?" I whispered, my voice trembling, my eyes wide as I stared at the floor.
Seraphina’s blank face haunted me, her silence louder than words. If she’d heard Celeste, if she knew I wasn’t the real Luna, she’d tell Kael, tell the pack, and I’d lose everything.
My hands gripped the sheets, my tears burning, my heart racing with fear. Kyra whined, her voice soft, scared.
"Stay calm," she said, but I couldn’t, my mind spinning with worst-case scenarios.
Kael’s coldness that morning flashed in my mind—his sharp words, his refusal to let me touch him.
Did he already know? Was that why he pushed me away? My wrists ached, the memory of his claws, his grip, making my chest tighten.
I’d fought so hard to be Luna, to protect the pack, to keep my secret, but Celeste’s threat,
Seraphina’s silence, they were closing in, suffocating me. My tears fell, hot on my cheeks, my breath shaky.
I wanted to tell Kael the truth, to stop hiding, but the fear of losing him, of him hating me, kept me quiet.
A knock on the door snapped me out of my thoughts, my breath hitching, my head whipping toward the sound.
My heart stopped, my hands trembling, fear gripping me tight.
Who was it? Seraphina, ready to expose me? Alpha Kael, demanding answers? Or Celeste, here to twist the knife deeper?
I froze, my eyes wide, my body tense, unable to move.
