Only I Cultivate
Chapter 51: You Forgot One Thing

Chapter 51: You Forgot One Thing

Feng Fan turned his gaze to Ma Chen, who was bound tightly by his chains. Despite the dire situation, a faint smile tugged at his lips.

"Little Chen, it seems you’re not working hard enough. As an educated man from a capitalist society, I have to make you work to the bone!"

Sensing his intentions, Straw Hat hummed disapprovingly, warning Feng Fan against what he was planning to do. Feng Fan scoffed, brushing off the caution.

"It’s either try or die—no other choice," he muttered resolutely.

He focused his will, guiding the stored ghostly spiritual energy inside his inner palace toward Ma Chen’s body.

If it was poison to him, then he’d just send it somewhere else!

As the energy surged into Ma Chen, her body absorbed it like a thirsty traveler finding an oasis. Previously, Ma Chen had been unable to cultivate, as any spiritual energy she gathered from the other side would be redirected to Feng Fan, leaving her like a starved slave—just enough power to work, but never enough to rebel.

But now, everything has changed.

Feng Fan forcefully injected the spiritual energy Ma Chen needed, not only restoring her cultivation but also healing her injuries. In doing so, he was creating a threat, one that stood right at his most vulnerable point—his soul!

As Feng Fan continued redirecting the spiritual energy he had gathered from Luo Li’s body into Ma Chen, his spiritual body walked calmly to his throne and sat down, preparing for the battle that was about to erupt.

Outside his inner palace, the crowd watched with anticipation. Everyone wondered whether the boy would truly create a miracle.

To their astonishment, Luo Li’s mutation continued to recede. Her elongated canines reverted to normal, her eyes returned to their natural color, and the ghostly pallor of her skin faded, leaving her looking completely human once more. Even the ghost bride tattoo on her face returned to normal, no longer visible through her mask.

The mutation had been completely reversed!

After the brutal inner battle, Luo Li’s eyes slowly closed, and she fell into a deep slumber.

Yet the danger was far from over. Though the chaotic spiritual energy within Luo Li’s body had been quelled, it was now Feng Fan’s spiritual energy that raged out of control. His black flames and binding chains dissipated, but his spiritual power surged outward in violent waves, thick with ghostly energy.

Lai He’s face twisted in frustration. "I can’t believe it... The boy saved her just to end up dying himself. If this keeps up, he’ll be the one to mutate."

Back in Feng Fan’s inner palace, Ma Chen, now free from her bindings, channeled her spiritual energy and launched an attack on Feng Fan’s soul. Unlike the chaotic energy taken from Luo Li, Ma Chen’s energy didn’t seek to destroy him but rather to change him—to possess his soul entirely.

Sitting atop his cracked throne, Feng Fan watched as Ma Chen’s influence spread throughout his inner palace. The fissures that once emitted his signature black flames slowly vanished, replaced by sinister rifts leading to the other side, from which ghostly spiritual energy poured out like a creeping fog.

As the corruption crept closer to his soul, Ma Chen’s smile twisted into something grotesque.

Straw Hat hummed incessantly, even making a snide joke about how Feng Fan would become the first sect master of the Ghost Sealing Generation sect to be possessed by a ghost.

But Feng Fan showed no fear. His expression remained calm, his gaze fixed on Ma Chen as she approached. He simply waited, watching her every move.

Finally, Ma Chen stopped just inches from him, her grin stretching unnaturally across her cheeks.

"For all the suffering you put me through..." she drawled, savoring her perceived victory. "I’ll make you suffer ten times more. I’ll take your body and tear apart those you love, while you watch... helpless to stop me."

Her voice was hoarse, dripping with malice. She extended her hand toward his soul, confident in her triumph. Everything in his inner palace had succumbed to corruption—everything except the deepest part of his soul.

But Feng Fan smirked.

"You forgot one thing," he said coldly. "You’re still inside my palace, and here... I’m the king."

A flicker of doubt crossed Ma Chen’s face, a dangerous sensation washing over her. But it was too late.

Dark flames erupted from Feng Fan’s throne, fueled by every drop of ghostly spiritual energy he had taken from Luo Li that was still outside Ma Chen’s control. The inferno surged like gasoline-fed fire, engulfing everything in its path. And the closest thing to the throne?

Ma Chen.

Agonizing screams tore from her as the flames consumed her soul.

"NOOO! NOOO! I’LL KILL YOU!" she howled, unresigned to her fate. With her soul ablaze, she lunged at Feng Fan, her claws stretching toward his head, desperate to take him down with her.

But Feng Fan didn’t flinch. His right fist, wrapped in roaring dark flames, shot forward. He leaped from his throne, meeting her head-on.

Ma Chen’s claws barely grazed his cheek before his blazing fist struck her. The impact shattered her soul, sending her directly to hell. The remaining ghostly spiritual energy that once bolstered her could no longer resist Feng Fan’s flames, and her screams faded as her soul was devoured—consumed by the dark fire.

In the eerie silence that followed, Feng Fan stood amid the dissipating flames, his inner palace slowly regaining its former brilliance.

"Well... seems like I just lost my ghost to cultivate," Feng Fan muttered with a wry smile. "Guess I’ll have to find a new one."

Due to humanity’s severed immortal path, no human could directly absorb spiritual energy. Feng Fan’s only means of cultivation was through ghosts—creatures that siphoned energy from the other side, which he then used to strengthen himself.

Now that Ma Chen was gone, the spiritual energy stored in his body would eventually dissipate, leaving him unable to regenerate it. Killing Ma Chen, his only sealed ghost, was essentially crippling his own cultivation.
