Chapter 50: Fuck Off

Chapter 50: Fuck Off

Luo Li’s nails dug into Feng Fan’s flesh, drawing blood as ghostly spiritual energy seeped into his veins. The spot where she struck immediately necrosed, darkening as if injected with lethal poison.

Her other hand shot toward his throat, aiming to sever his head.

Mutated or not, Luo Li was a C-rank Hunter, an existence far beyond Feng Fan’s level. Lai He’s expression hardened, and spiritual energy surged from his body, pressing down on Luo Li like a mountain.

Her body twitched and fought against the pressure, but against Lai He’s overwhelming power, she was like an infant baring her fangs—futile and helpless.

"That’s enough, boy. Let her go. Let me end her suffering," Luo Ru demanded, his tone stern.

But Feng Fan didn’t respond. He didn’t flinch from Luo Li’s lethal attacks, nor did he acknowledge Luo Ru’s presence.

’Little Hat, is there a way to save her?’ he asked through his connection.

Straw Hat, resting atop his head, hummed softly before imparting the necessary knowledge: Burn or absorb the ghostly spiritual energy within her.

Feng Fan processed the information quickly. If he tried to absorb all the ghostly energy, it would kill him—he lacked the capacity to handle it. If he opted to burn it, his puny cultivation level wouldn’t be fast enough to stop the transformation.

’Since neither alone will work, I’ll just do both!’ he thought, his eyes blazing with determination.

Luo Ru’s patience wore thin. "Boy..." he called again, spiritual energy gathering in his palm.

"Fuck off," Feng Fan snapped coldly, cutting him off.

The sheer audacity left those around him stunned. Luo Ru’s eyes narrowed, his hand twitching with power as he prepared to strike.

But Lai He intervened, raising a hand. "Wait."

He could see it—the unwavering resolve etched into Feng Fan’s expression. ’This isn’t the face of someone who’s given up. There’s still something he believes in.’

Before anyone could react, black flames ignited around Feng Fan’s body, wrapping both him and Luo Li in a blazing shroud.

Luo Li’s agonized screams pierced the air as the flames burned not only her soul but also the ghostly spiritual energy corrupting her. Yet Feng Fan wasn’t finished.

Dark chains manifested from his body, entwining them together. Through those chains, he invoked the technique Straw Hat had taught him—absorbing the ghostly spiritual energy and storing it within his inner palace.

There was no retreat from this now.

He would either survive alongside Luo Li... or die together with her.

The crowd watched Feng Fan, an F-rank Hunter, using two abilities at once, utterly stupefied. Lai He’s expression turned grim as he took in the unfolding scene. His sharp gaze landed on Director Mao, who was sweating coldly in the corner.

’Damn it, I just wanted to build some connections through this... It would have been a great help for Green Vine City. How could I have known this would happen?!’ Director Mao thought, cursing his own misjudgment.

But their shock had only just begun. The crowd stared in disbelief as the rampant ghostly spiritual energy within Luo Li’s body began to subside. These were the top Hunters of the Dragon Country—experienced, perceptive, and quick to understand the impossible feat happening before their eyes.

The dark chains surrounding the pair did little to conceal what Feng Fan was doing.

He was reversing a Hunter’s mutation!

A law as unbreakable as iron—an unchangeable truth in the Hunter world—was being shattered right before them.

Lai He felt conflicted. If the boy succeeded, it would mean he was far more remarkable than anyone had imagined. Yet, that also meant he would become a target—the center of attention in a room filled with influential figures, all of whom would be eager to recruit him like a pack of starving wolves circling fresh prey.

No one dared to interrupt what Feng Fan was attempting, not even Luo Ru, who just moments before had wanted nothing more than to kill Luo Li to end her suffering. Now, he too stood in silence, watching the miraculous struggle unfold before his eyes.

At the center of the storm, Feng Fan had neither the time nor the luxury to pay attention to his surroundings. With his eyes closed, he focused entirely on keeping his inner palace from collapsing.

The ghostly spiritual qi he absorbed was stored in a secluded corner, but as the influx continued, it leaked, corroding his inner palace like acid.

His throne—a manifestation of his soul—was cracking under the relentless corrosion. Blood dripped from his lips, but he remained firm, refusing to let go.

’Hold on, Feng Fan, you can do it!’ he thought to himself.

As the mutation continued to reverse, clarity slowly returned to Luo Li’s mind. Her eyes fluttered open, revealing a strange mix of silver and red hues within her irises.

Confusion clouded her gaze as she looked at Feng Fan, but understanding soon followed. Though she couldn’t fully grasp what he was doing, she knew that the reason her mutation was retreating was because of Feng Fan.

And it was hurting him.

"Feng Fan... stop it... you’ll kill yourself," she whispered weakly.

Feng Fan’s eyes shot open at her voice, but instead of hesitation, a warm smile adorned his face.

"If it wasn’t for you, I would have died at Ma Chen’s house," he replied gently. "So shut up and let me return the favor, Luo Li."

Tears made of blood streaked down Luo Li’s face, mixing with the sweat and grime from her ordeal. A pain unlike anything she had felt before squeezed her heart.

"No... I don’t need it. This life..."

Her voice broke, the weight of guilt and sorrow pushing down on her soul.

"Relax. Focus on fighting back with me. We’ll survive through this together, I swear," Feng Fan interrupted her, his tone gentle despite the pain etched on his face.

He closed his eyes again, forcing himself to concentrate solely on his inner palace.

The dark flames that had once burned brightly inside his inner palace were now reduced to a mere spark—barely a quarter of their original size. His throne was riddled with fractures so deep that even the slightest breeze could shatter it into pieces.
