Chapter 424: Chapter 414: Want a Kiss? Wait Until You’re Back
Everyone whispered among themselves, Jiang Zhe couldn’t possibly think she knew everything just because she had been Professor Tan’s assistant for a few days, could she?
"Alright, let’s continue with the class," Professor Tan said.
After class, Ding Yi came to find Professor Tan.
Once Professor Tan understood the situation with his injury, he said, "I think you can try with Jiang Zhe. Anyway, you can’t use your right hand to hold a scalpel now, the worst case is that you still won’t be able to. But what if?"
Ding Yi thoughtfully hung his head.
...
Jiang Zhe went back to the siheyuan, bought some vegetables on the way home, and when she arrived, she stewed the ribs and then lay on the sofa playing with her mobile phone.
When Qin Jingchen entered the home, the first thing he smelled was the aroma of the ribs.
Knowing she was there, the look in his eyes softened.
He pushed the door open, and Jiang Zhe was typing and chatting with someone.
"You’re home so early?" he asked, as he washed a cup, poured warm water, and brought it to Jiang Zhe.
"Professor Tan’s class ended early today," she said softly, "I kind of wanted to eat the stewed ribs we make at home, so I bought some on my way back."
Qin Jingchen smiled, "I’ve been wanting to eat them too. I’m heading to Beicheng Continent tomorrow, and it might be a while before I get to eat a home-cooked meal again."
"How come you want to eat whatever I want to eat?"
Qin Jingchen sat down beside her, wrapped his arm around her waist, "Do you know what I want to eat even more right now?"
Jiang Zhe kicked out at him.
Qin Jingchen caught her foot, holding it in his palm.
Jiang Zhe tried to pull back without success, put down her phone, and leaned in closer.
The girl’s natural gaze was enchanting, but when she intentionally flirted, it was devilishly angelic, as if wringing water from her eyes and brows.
Desire swirled in Qin Jingchen’s eyes, and as he looked down at her, moving close to her lips, Jiang Zhe slipped her foot out, grabbed her mobile phone, and was already at the bedroom door.
She raised her phone, "I need to reply to a few messages."
Qin Jingchen’s kiss missed its mark, and he gave a wry laugh, tugging at his collar, his eyes filled with indulgence.
After this meal, Qin Jingchen would be leaving for Beicheng Continent.
Yet, neither of them brought up the matter.
After dinner, Qin Jingchen cleaned up the table while Jiang Zhe sat on the sofa playing with her mobile phone, eating fruit.
He leaned in, aiming for Jiang Zhe’s lips.
Before he could get close, Jiang Zhe stuffed a cherry into his mouth.
"Want a kiss? Wait until you’re back," Jiang Zhe said, hugging the fruit and cherries and moved a bit farther away.
Qin Jingchen chuckled, his tongue touching the cherry in his mouth; today’s fruit was exceptionally sweet.
...
When Jiang Zhe returned to the university, Professor Tan asked her to come over.
She went to Professor Tan’s office.
Ding Yi was also there.
Jiang Zhe had a good guess about what it was all about.
Professor Tan said, "Jiang Zhe, help him."
Ding Yi looked a bit embarrassed, his tone still harsh, "Anyway, it’s like this now, it doesn’t hurt to try more."
"There are many such things in medicine, a desperate shot at a cure," Jiang Zhe said.
Ding Yi: "..."
Jiang Zhe said, "Let’s go."
"Now?" Ding Yi was surprised.
"Did you think I have a lot of time?"
Ding Yi inwardly groaned, did this really not require any preparation?
Professor Tan said, "Then I’ll find some students to assist you."
"It’s a minor operation, no need," Jiang Zhe said.
Professor Tan: "..."
Professor Tan was more of a theoretical researcher than a practitioner and when he heard Jiang Zhe’s refusal, he did not force any arrangements.
The university had a dedicated infirmary, and Professor Tan had someone clear a room to serve as a temporary operating room.
Being the Traditional Chinese Medicine University, the equipment and instruments were actually quite complete.
Jiang Zhe led Ding Yi inside.
Ding Yi steeled his heart and closed his eyes; now that he had chosen Jiang Zhe, he wasn’t going to dwell on the possibility of failure.
He had already prepared himself for the possibility of never using a scalpel again, how much worse could the outcome be?
The door to the operating room closed.
Ding Yi wasn’t nervous anymore, but Professor Tan became anxious.
They were both his students; any issue with either of them would cause him great distress.
He didn’t even go to his lectures and stood at the operating room door, recalling the birth of his child, which hadn’t made him as nervous as this.
Students from the second year of the research class also knew that Ding Yi had gone to Jiang Zhe for surgery.
As for the outcome, well, no one was very optimistic.
Jiang Zhe seemed to be the kind of student who excelled in reading and exams, but such students aren’t necessarily good at practical operations, especially since she had been at the university for less than half a year.
Could she really have learned and adapted in that time?
When Jiang Zhe opened the door to the operating room, Professor Tan’s face appeared in front of her.
She took a step back, visibly startled.
