Chapter 386: Chapter 386: A Stack of Books, All Read

"After you finish registering, first go to the administration building to make the payment, and then go to collect your items..." the senior student was very enthusiastic, "I can also accompany you."

"There’s no need for you to accompany me. I’ll take care of Jiang Zhe’s matters."

An older teacher approached.

"Professor Tan."

"Professor Tan."

Professor Tan was the one who had personally gone to No.1 Middle School last time to bring Jiang Zhe back.

Although Jiang Zhe chose his major not because of him, nor for the major itself, it still reflected well on Professor Tan.

So today, Professor Tan had specifically come to pick up Jiang Zhe.

"You can just attend to the other students. Jiang Zhe, I’ll take you to get familiar with the environment," Professor Tan said with a smile.

He also pointed out a few of his own students to help Jiang Zhe with collecting her things.

The favoritism towards Jiang Zhe was apparent.

Xia Enci raised her hand, "Professor Tan, can I follow along too?"

"And you are?"

"I am also your student."

"Then let’s go together."

Jiang Zhe had no objections, and followed Professor Tan’s pace.

Professor Tan loved talent, and even though Jiang Zhe might not be passionate about the major, he still saw great potential for her to make significant achievements in it.

A student capable of scoring full marks on the college entrance exam wouldn’t have poor learning abilities.

Professor Tan led Jiang Zhe and Xia Enci around, introducing them to the college’s situation, and then said earnestly, "Jiang Zhe, you might not be very familiar with Chinese medicine, but during classes, if there’s anything you don’t understand, you can come to me anytime. I will also arrange for some senior students who are proficient in their professional courses to tutor you specifically. You have good grades, and as long as you are willing to learn, you can definitely maintain the performance you had in high school."

"Mhm," Jiang Zhe replied.

Seeing her lack of enthusiasm, Professor Tan didn’t insist. Right now, she still didn’t understand the charm of Chinese medicine, but given time and growing interest, she would surely find it fascinating.

After Professor Tan left, Jiang Zhe and Xia Enci went to the dormitory building. The dorm was meant for four people, and the other two roommates were apparently still busy with registration and collecting items and had not arrived yet.

The belongings for Jiang Zhe and Xia Enci had already been delivered by the senior students assigned by Professor Tan.

Jiang Zhe’s phone rang, and she answered it.

Feng Jiao’s voice came through the line, "Jiang Zhe, I wanted to let you know that we just finished registering Yunxuan. We helped him skip two grades, and now he’s in the same class as Xiaoqi and Fang Ting."

"Is he adjusting well?"

"He’s adapting quite well. But he chose to board at school," Feng Jiao’s voice dipped slightly.

She had hoped to spend more time with Jiang Yunxuan, but he had decided to board at school.

Yet her slight disappointment couldn’t overshadow her immense joy, "It’s good for him to train independently. It’s rare that they get along so well."

After hanging up the phone, Jiang Zhe made a video call to Jiang Yunxuan.

Jiang Yunxuan showed her the tidily arranged bed in his dormitory, "Isn’t it nice? Xiaoqi lives right across from me. I originally thought I couldn’t skip grades, but after they saw my Math Olympiad results, the school directly approved it."

"It looks quite decent."

"Of course," Jiang Yunxuan boasted further about the luggage and bedding he had organized.

After these calls, Xia Enci had already sorted out the beds for the both of them.

Hearing a knock on the door, Xia Enci ran to answer it and saw two boys standing at the entrance.

"Who are you?"

"Oh, Professor Tan sent us to deliver Jiang Zhe’s things."

Xia Enci stepped aside to let them in.

The two of them held a large stack of specialized books in their hands, gasping for breath as they set them on the ground.

Xia Enci casually picked up everything the two had brought and placed it on the desk.

The two of them looked taken aback for a moment.

"Why are all these books so old?" Xia Enci wondered aloud.

"These are all very useful textbooks for our field and very precious. And..." the taller student said, "they contain some abstruse content that’s not easy to understand, usually not until sophomore year, once you have a basic foundation, are they really usable."

"Then why have they been sent over now?" Xia Enci asked, curious as she flipped through one and indeed did not understand it.

The senior student replied, "Professor Tan said to let Jiang Zhe get familiar with them in advance."

Although both felt that what Professor Tan was doing was indeed a bit like trying to help the shoots grow by pulling them upward.

It was one thing for Jiang Zhe to have good grades, but her obvious lack of interest in traditional Chinese medicine was indeed true.

Giving her these things, she might not look at them, and even if she did, she might not understand them.

When the two had arrived earlier, they had indeed been somewhat resistant.

Xia Enci clicked her tongue, "What do they think our Xiaozhe is? So fierce right from the start. Xiaozhe, what do you think?"

To which Jiang Zhe, who had yet to speak, replied indifferently, "Keep them."

"Oh, Xiaozhe says to keep them."

Seeing that she was willing to keep them, the senior didn’t say much more.

The two took their leave and departed.

As they left, they spoke in a hushed tone, "Really, Professor Tan too, these textbooks are so precious. Giving them to Jiang Zhe, isn’t it a bit wasteful?"

"After all, she has the manor halo and is a real top student. What if?"

"The content in high school is worlds apart from that in university. Even if she’s a top student, if she has no interest or lacks the talent for traditional Chinese medicine, she might still not be able to handle this content."

"Let’s just do as Professor Tan says."

Xia Enci stared at the stack of books, "When are we supposed to get through all of this? They take up quite a bit of space too."

Jiang Zhe walked over, picked up a book, set it back down, then picked up another one.

Soon, she pushed the excess stack aside and said, "You can take a look at these when you’re free."

Xia Enci immediately pulled a face.

Jiang Zhe selected three or four, "I’ll take a look at these few."

She had not expected that Professor Tan would have such rare books in his collection.

Xia Enci felt overwhelmed by the sheer number of books, "Can I... wait until sophomore year to start looking at them in a more systematic manner? I..."

"Then let’s return these books in a couple of days," Jiang Zhe said.

"Oh, okay," Xia Enci agreed.

Jiang Zhe sat down, casually flipping through the three or four books in front of her.

Xia Enci, who really wasn’t interested in reading, busied herself with fetching water to wash up, clean here and there, and tidy up the dorm until it was spotlessly clean.

After a while, Jiang Zhe put the book she was holding back into the pile and said to her, "Let’s return these books at lunchtime."

It was almost lunchtime. Xia Enci picked up several large stacks of books and left the dorm with Jiang Zhe.

Seeing that Jiang Zhe had brought all the books back, Professor Tan was quite regretful, "Are you returning them already?"

"Yes, thank you," Jiang Zhe nodded.

Xia Enci lugged the stacks to the desk, "Professor Tan, please check, they’re all here."

"Jiang Zhe, you have no problem with your learning ability. These books, look through them more, you’ll benefit
