Chapter 294: Chapter 294: If You Are Capable, You Will Be Needed

The principal regretted, why hadn’t he come earlier! Why hadn’t he properly educated these teachers earlier to learn the meaning of "impartiality"!

After getting in the car, Jiang Zhe said calmly, "The middle schools in Beijing are bigger and the libraries are better. Shall we go?"

Xiaoqi and Fang Ting nodded immediately.

"Not going smoothly?" Qin Jingchen asked.

"Ran into a few scumbags in the industry." Jiang Zhe chewed on his gum. "Xiaoqi and Fang Ting won’t be studying here anymore."

"Fen Ye, make arrangements for a school in Beijing."

"Sure, I’m on it. I always felt that with the talents of Xiaoqi and Fang Ting, studying in Jincheng would be a waste. It would be much better for them to go to Beijing."

Xiaoqi and Fang Ting blinked, the surprise coming so suddenly that they didn’t know whom to thank.

Jiang Zhe understood their thoughts and said, "You don’t need to thank anyone. If you have the ability, there will always be people who need you."

After resolving the matters for Fang Ting and Xiaoqi, Jiang Zhe was clearly in a bad mood on the way back.

Qin Jingchen knew, she had seen too many scenes like today’s in her life, glimpsing from the little things the hardships embedded in her journey so far.

After a quick lunch, Jiang Zhe returned to class at school.

She no longer cared about any news from No. 1 Middle School.

After all, Xiaoqi and Fang Ting not attending No. 1 Middle School was a loss for the school, not for them.

...

The news that Qin Jingchen was Jiang Zhe’s fiancé soon reached Ding Yuehua’s ears.

She only knew that Qin Jingchen and Jiang Zhe knew each other, but now she realized the true nature of their relationship.

No wonder there were so many important figures at Jiang Zhe’s birthday party, people who usually couldn’t even be invited.

It turned out that it was all because Qin Jingchen was supporting her from behind.

"Your grandfather really is biased, introducing only Jiang Zhe to Qin Jingchen, completely disregarding everyone else," Ding Yuehua complained bitterly to Jiang Yaowang.

Ding Xuexue felt the same way, "If he had even a bit of affection for me, he wouldn’t keep avoiding me and giving all the good opportunities to Jiang Zhe alone."

"His favoritism knows no bounds."

Jiang Cheng interjected, "Enough, we don’t really understand their situation. Perhaps Jiang Zhe and Qin Jingchen knew each other already?"

"How could that be possible? A high school girl, without your dad’s help, where could she have met Qin Jingchen?"

"Now that two are engaged, it’s unlikely there will be any changes, right? With Jiang Zhe around, the Qin Family will surely give us some consideration in the future. I think you guys should stop worrying about it," Jiang Cheng dropped this remark.

Ding Yuehua was irritated that her husband didn’t take this seriously, and even more so that Jiang Yaowang hadn’t introduced Ding Xuexue to Qin Jingchen first.

But anger aside, she also knew her husband was right, at this point, it would be very difficult for things to change.

Ding Xuexue calmed down, "Mom, let’s visit the Qin Family. Jiang Zhe is my cousin, after all. Visiting the Qin Family is the proper etiquette, isn’t it?"

This awakened Ding Yuehua; indeed, attempting to change anything now wouldn’t be possible overnight.

But visiting the Qin Family to get acquainted and making an impression on Qin Jingchen still could have a subtle effect.

After deciding on a plan, they prepared gifts and went to visit the Qin Family.

These past few days Jiang Zhe was busy, Qin Jingchen had returned to Beijing on business, and had just got back home and spoken a few words to the old Mrs. Qin when the butler mentioned Ding Yuehua’s visit.

"Who’s that?" asked the old Mrs. Qin.

"Relatives from Jiang Zhe’s side, her uncle’s family," Qin Jingchen recalled after a moment’s thought.

His eyebrows wore a cool detachment, lightly tinged with impatience.

"Then please come in," said the old Madam Qin, not seeing his expression. Hearing it was someone from the Jiang Family, she took the matter quite seriously and asked Tiao Chun to quickly fetch her a mirror so that she could tidy up her appearance.

"Grandma, don’t bother," Qin Jingchen stopped her.

Although he did not state the reason, the old Madam Qin could guess what was going on from his demeanor, "Jiang Yaowang is quite open-minded and translucent, how could his child be so unworthy."

Qin Jingchen said nothing, but the butler understood at once and stepped out.

Ding Yuehua and Ding Xuexue couldn’t even enter the front door and were sitting outside waiting.

The two women thought that no matter what, seeing that they were from the Jiang Family, the old Madam Qin and Qin Jingchen should meet with them as a courtesy.

As the two of them were contemplating what to say and how to present themselves when they saw the Qin Family, they saw the butler coming toward them.

The two women quickly stood up.

"You two please leave, the old Madam and Young Master Qin are very busy and won’t be entertaining you today."

Ding Yuehua couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

This was an all too obvious excuse, a complete dismissal without saving their face.

She glanced at Ding Xuexue, then back at the butler, "Then we won’t disturb you. May I ask when would be a convenient time to visit?"

"I’m not too sure about that," the butler nodded, polite yet aloof.

Ding Yuehua and Ding Xuexue, having been turned away, had no choice but to leave.

The people of the Qin Family were too cold; Ding Yuehua and Ding Xuexue couldn’t understand why.

"Mom, I think, maybe Young Master Qin and Jiang Zhe, they might not have reached that stage at all, he might not have any feelings for her," speculated Ding Xuexue.

Recalling the last time she saw Qin Jingchen and Jiang Zhe together, Ding Yuehua was indeed somewhat uncertain.

If Qin Jingchen truly valued Jiang Zhe, he would have treated them with much more respect.

"Wasn’t it widely rumored before that Young Master Qin had no desires and even attempted to become a monk? Perhaps Jiang Zhe is just his nominal girlfriend, a smokescreen," she speculated.

Ding Yuehua felt that Ding Xuexue’s speculation made sense, it must be so.

After sharing a few words with the old Madam Qin, Qin Jingchen got up to leave.

"How come you’re leaving again just after you’ve arrived?" chided the old Madam Qin.

"I have some matters to attend to, I’ll head back to my place first."

"You child..."

The old Madam Qin, gazing at the back of Qin Jingchen, sighed, "Without Jiang Zhe here, you really can’t stay for a moment longer, can you?"

Qin Jingchen returned to his apartment and had Qin Hai take the suitcase upstairs.

After Qin Hai left, he booted up his laptop to take care of some business, then went into the bathroom for a shower.

Upon exiting, he casually used a towel to wipe the water droplets from his hair.

A few stray droplets slid down his long neck, trickling over his strong body, covered in a fine layer of muscle, and disappeared into his abdominal lines.

His features were strikingly handsome, and hormones seemed to surge.

He opened the suitcase, about to take out some clothes, when he suddenly touched something hard.

He groped again quickly, and what came into the palm of his hand were two stones, each bearing the pattern of stars that had been weathered out by flowing water.

He had packed his suitcase himself, and although Qin Hai had carried it, he would not have touched the contents inside.
