The man placed Irene Morton on the sofa, and Sophie Smith quickly went to get a set of clothes for Irene, preparing to help her change.

"I’ll be going now."

"Um, what’s your name? Can you leave your contact information? I haven’t properly thanked you yet!" Sophie naturally understood the principle of gratitude; after all, he had been a big help today.

"Give me your phone number. If there’s a suitable time, I’ll give you a chance to repay me." The man smiled faintly, his clear gaze fixed on her.

"Yes." She nodded.

The man put away the note and turned to leave.

He didn’t even reveal his name to her.

About an hour later, Asher Land arrived.

"How is Irene?" His eyes were full of anxiety. Sophie stepped aside to let him enter Irene’s room.

Asher Land frowned slightly and strode to Irene’s bedside.

Sophie stood behind him, like a child who had done something wrong, feeling a bit terrified.

He helped cover Irene with the blanket and sat by her bed for a long time before turning to face Sophie.

"This is how it happened."
