Chapter 114: Chapter 114 His New Love (Part 3)
Damn it, no matter how much he wanted to get drunk, his consciousness remained crystal clear.
"Pay the bill." He took out his wallet but found he didn’t have enough cash. He never liked carrying cash, and the only card he brought today was given to Rose Sterling.
"This is ridiculous." A self-mocking smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. He took out his phone to call his secretary, but hung up just as the connection was made.
Another number caught his eye.
Sophie Smith.
As if possessed, he dialed her number.
Sophie was lying on her bed reading a magazine when her phone rang. Without even checking the number, she answered.
"Hello." There was no response from the other side for a long time. When she looked at her phone, she saw it was Asher Land’s number. She hesitated for a moment, then hung up.
But he was relentless, calling one after another.
"Is there something you need?" Sophie suppressed the dissatisfaction in her heart.
"Come to Monte Bar on Seaside Road; I forgot to bring money."
What kind of joke was Asher playing with her?
"President Land, I believe if you mention your identity, the bar would be more than willing to waive your bill." After saying this, Sophie intended to hang up.
"I will wait for you."
"..."
Sophie ignored it and hung up directly.
She was utterly certain she no longer wanted any entanglement with him; Asher Land was someone she had to gradually cut out from her heart.
She closed the magazine, glanced at the time on the wall, and planned to have a good sleep.
She had no idea how much time had passed when the irritating ringing of the phone started again. She answered the call wearily.
"Hello..." she mumbled, dazed.
"Hello, Miss Smith, I’m a waiter at Monte Bar. This gentleman is drunk here; could you please come and pick him up?"
She looked at the caller ID, it was Asher Land’s phone number.
"I saw that all his recent calls are to your name, so I’m giving you a call. Are you able to come over now?" the waiter asked.
Annoying Asher Land, couldn’t he let her have a moment of peace?
"Alright, I’m on my way. Could you please look after him until I arrive?" She changed her clothes and headed straight to Monte Bar.
When Sophie arrived at the bar, it was during peak hours at night, crowded and noisy. She carefully navigated through the crowd. After searching for a long time, she finally saw Asher Land lying on the bar.
She stood behind him for a long time, uncertain if she should approach him, because she knew once she got close, there might be no turning back.
No, she had to leave him, definitely.
Just as she was about to turn around and walk away, she suddenly heard the sound of shattering glass. It was Asher Land, who had swept a row of glasses off the bar, causing a stir among the crowd.
Damned fool, what kind of drunken madness was this!
She sighed and reluctantly walked towards him.
"Asher Land, Asher Land!" She shook his shoulder, but now he seemed completely unresponsive.
"Hello, miss, are you here to pick up this gentleman?" The waiter approached her like a savior and asked.
"Yes." Sophie nodded in response, "Could you please help me with the bill?"
Sophie settled all the alcohol charges and helped Asher Land’s tall and sturdy body towards the bar’s entrance.
His body leaned against hers, making her steps a bit wobbly. She struggled as she guided him step by step forward.
She found the parking lot, retrieved the car keys from him, and helped him into the front passenger seat, fastening his seatbelt.
After finishing all of this, Sophie felt almost drained.
She turned to look at him beside her; he was quiet, reclining in the seat, eyes shut. His originally stern face softened considerably; his defined features, sharp eyebrows, and bright eyes, with his face perfectly sculpted. He looked handsome, there was no denying that.
For a moment, she was lost in thought.
Asher Land had only recently entered her life for a short period, yet he gave her a feeling that she might never be able to escape him.
She hated herself for having such feelings.
