Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Fine, I’ll Let You Go (1)

Wyatt Sterling still wanted to say something, but Sophie Smith had already turned back to her room. With no other option, he had to leave.

Asher Land stood there, looking at the tightly closed door, still finding it hard to believe what Wyatt Sterling had said.

He rushed into her room, only to see her lying on the bed. When she saw him come in, she turned over, her back facing him.

"Is what he said true?"

"So what if it is, so what if it isn’t?"

"Sophie!" He pulled her up from the bed, his eyes somewhat frantic, "Can you just tell me the truth?"

"I don’t know why you’re so anxious. I just made a correct decision, that’s all. We both know we can’t keep the child."

"Then why didn’t you tell me beforehand?"

Tell? Would it make a difference if I told you?

"I clearly understand that I’m just your lover. I want children too, but I don’t want my child to be born a bastard, living in the shadows." Her emotions got a bit out of control; the clearer she saw the truth, the more heartbroken she felt.

His heart was full of remorse and guilt as he approached her, pulling her into his arms.

"I’m sorry, I’m sorry..." he repeated over and over.

"I don’t need your apologies." Sophie pushed away from his embrace, her face was already tear-stained, and her gaze was full of plea as she looked at him, "I beg you, please let me go? I just want to live a normal life."

From the beginning, she never gave up the idea of leaving him. He knew that as long as he wanted, she wouldn’t escape his control for a lifetime. But now, he found himself hesitating.

"Okay, I’ll let you go."

Sophie couldn’t believe her ears. Did he say he would let her go?

"Are you serious?"

"Get out now! Don’t come to regret if I change my mind a moment later."

Sophie didn’t know if this was what is called happiness coming too suddenly, but she only took three seconds to digest the fact that Asher Land decided to let her go. She stood up and walked out without hesitation.

He heard the sound of the door closing, her resolve making him feel heartbroken. It was the first time he felt so defeated, defeated by a woman.

...

Although Sophie was surprised by Asher Land’s decision, the moment she stepped out the door, breathing in the outside air, she felt free.

He was finally tired of her, willing to let her go. Perhaps she could try to return to her old self, but everything she experienced in the past few months told her she couldn’t go back.

She had nowhere to go now. Asher Land had ’kicked’ her out of the apartment, and because of Isabella Yates’s deliberate exclusion, she couldn’t stay at school either, let alone return to Southern County...

She searched online and eventually picked out a rental place.

One bedroom, one living room, with a separate bathroom and kitchen, twelve hundred a month. Thankfully, she could afford it.

She had to admit, she was struggling now, just an actor yet to make it. Although she played a so-called leading role, the remuneration had been given to Christopher Smith. The movie hadn’t been released yet, and she wasn’t well-known. Apart from following the cast to various places for promotion, she didn’t have many separate appearances.

She quickly moved into the place she settled for, and after some cleaning and organizing, the small room looked rather cozy.

She lay on the bed, relaxing her weary body. Without Asher Land’s presence, everything seemed so free.

"Free, free..." she muttered under her breath. Was she really free?
