Chapter 107: Chapter 107 Her Decision (Part 1)
Wyatt Sterling still handled matters with great efficiency. He quickly helped her schedule an appointment with the most famous gynecologist in Eastern City, and the abortion surgery was arranged for seven o’clock in the evening.
"Are you really sure about this?" Wyatt Sterling’s eyes were filled with concern. "The surgery carries risks, and you’ve already missed the optimal time for the procedure..."
"I’ve decided." Sophie Smith interrupted him with a smile. "Isn’t the doctor you helped me schedule the appointment with the best in the city? It’ll be okay."
"Didn’t you tell Asher Land?"
"Tell him what? Tell him I’m pregnant? The result is the same. He wouldn’t want this child."
Sophie spoke with certainty, but every time she said those words casually, in reality, her heart was full of pain and guilt. There was a new life inside her, and yet she was going to be so cruel.
Her eyes reddened, like a wounded little rabbit, and her nails couldn’t help but press into her flesh, leaving a bloodstain.
"Let go!" Wyatt Sterling jumped in surprise at her actions and loosened her clenched fists. "Don’t do things that hurt yourself, okay?"
In the end, she wasn’t that strong. She helplessly fell into his arms, her body shaking uncontrollably.
"It’ll be okay, trust yourself." Wyatt Sterling held her tightly and softly comforted her by her ear.
"Next, come in with me and prepare for surgery." A nurse came out and said to them in the corridor.
Wyatt Sterling gave her an encouraging smile, and Sophie Smith nodded, taking difficult steps toward the operating room.
Those few short steps, for her, felt incredibly long. It was like she was at the end of a lightless tunnel, continually walking, yet forever wandering in darkness.
She quietly lay on the operating table, gazing at the gentle light above her head, despairingly closing her eyes as a tear slipped down her cheek.
Wyatt Sterling paced uneasily in the corridor, his mind restless. Every time he thought of Sophie Smith’s pained expression as she entered the operating room, his heart ached faintly. She was such a beautiful person; he didn’t want to see her suffering any grievance or pain, but he simply didn’t have the ability to help.
He blamed himself; he felt guilty. How he wished he could share a bit of her pain.
An hour passed, and the light in the operating room finally lit up.
Sophie Smith was helped out of the operating room, and Wyatt Sterling rushed forward to tightly grip her hand.
"I’m fine." Sophie gave him a faint, weak smile.
Wyatt Sterling scooped her up in his arms, taking a deep breath to calm his mood as much as possible.
"As long as you’re fine. I’ll take you home."
Sophie initially wanted to refuse, but on second thought, she agreed.
Firstly, her body really felt a bit uncomfortable right now. Secondly, she and Asher Land were in a cold war, and it had already been a week since he’d last been to the apartment, so having Wyatt Sterling take her back shouldn’t be a problem.
In his embrace, she suddenly felt a warmth and couldn’t help but lean closer toward him.
...
In the CEO’s office, Asher Land coldly watched the video surveillance he had retrieved from the hotel. It clearly showed both him and Eva Miller passed out, being taken into a room by a hotel staff, making it impossible for him to have done anything to Eva Miller at the time.
"Who exactly directed you to take me to that room?" he asked the staff standing to the side. This staff member had been brought over from the hotel. Once they found out who was behind it, the truth would naturally come to light.
"President Land, I really don’t know that person." The staff looked at the imposing Asher Land, his legs shaking slightly. "You and Miss Miller were dining there that day, and a gentleman came over saying he wanted to send a bottle of wine to you. Later, when he saw you two were drunk, he took the room card and said he wanted us to help take you in."
