Chapter 91: FIGHTING
Chapter 91: FIGHTING
The team stood frozen, their hearts pounding in their chests as they look at the extraordinary sight before them. The massive, plant seemed to pulsate with an eerie energy, its vivid brown roots swaying ominously.
Fredrick quickly assessed the situation, his mind racing to formulate a plan. "Stay calm," he urged, his voice a blend of authority and reassurance. "We need to back away slowly, but don’t turn your backs on it."
With measured movements, the team began to retreat, their eyes fixed on the creature, which appeared both captivating and terrifying in its alien nature.
As they cautiously backed away, Fredrick maintained contact with the other team via the radio phone, updating them on the unexpected encounter and requesting urgent backup. The urgency in his voice reflected the gravity of the situation.
Terrence and Natalie exchanged a glance, they didn’t go, despite Fredrick’s earlier suggestion for them to leave.
Terrence held onto Natalie’s hands tightly. He looked at her with seriousness in his eyes.
Natalie’s hands were shaking too much. She was scared by what she saw. Never in her life did she expect that she’d be faced to face with a creature like that.
"Don’t be away from me," Terrence pulled her closer.
Natalie nodded. She held onto Terrence’s hand as they took a step back. Rey took the initiative to lead them while Fredrick stayed at the back, looking at the seriousness of the situation.
But before they could step back and move away any further, the plant-like creature let out an otherworldly, guttural sound, a mixture of a growl and a hiss. Its mouth widened, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth, and it lurched forward, its roots extending menacingly.
Reacting swiftly, the team ran when the roots launched towards them. Fredrick signaled Rey for a defensive formation. They move forward, protecting Terrence and Natalie.
They couldn’t make any mistakes as it could endanger both Terrence and Natalie’s life.
"Sh*t!"
Dodging and weaving through the forest, their hearts were pounding in sync with their hurried footsteps.
The only thing they could do was to sought cover behind sturdy trees and large rocks, hoping to hide while waiting for the other team and the backup they called.
"Where the heck are they?" Fredrick repeatedly called on the radio but no one was responding.
"Whis won’t do," Fredrick tilted her head to the side and kept the radio phone in his pocket. He kept it open in case they would want to communicate.
"Keep moving! Don’t stop!" a voice echoed amidst the chaos.
Yuki, leading his team, ran at full speed. When they saw Frederick and the others, they immediately went to their direction.
"W-What is that?"
With widened eyes, their speed slow downed. They were in genuine shock.
In a split second, the creature lunged forward again, aiming for the team with surprising speed. Fredrick shouted orders, and the team sprang into action as if it was their instinct.
They dodged the creature’s advances while trying to devise a strategy to contain or evade it.
Adrenaline surged through them as they fought to protect themselves, their training kicking in as they attempted to fight this unexplainable identity. The forest around them seemed to hold its breath, bearing witness to an intense struggle between the two side.
Caught in the grip of this unforeseen danger, the team realized they were facing something far beyond their expectations, a challenge that would test their courage, wit, and unity like never before.
In the midst of the chaotic struggle, Fredrick coordinated their movements, trying to find a way to gain the upper hand against the aggressive plant-like creature.
They took out their guns and fired on multiple times at the plant however the best it did was to put holes on the plants.
Terrence glanced at Natalie. They couldn’t just stay hidden here until the end. They needed to find way on how can they be of help.
Terrence could help on his own, but he was worried about Natalie’s welfare. He knew for sure that she will be scared to be alone especially in the current situation.
"Let’s hep them by distracting the plant."
Natalie quickly nodded. She agreed on the plan as she did not want the feel of being a burden too.
"How are we going to do that?"
Terrence looked around, surveying the area. When he saw rocks and woods on the ground, an idea hit him.
"Gather all the things that we can throw." Terrence instructed as they began moving.
Terrence and Natalie, displayed remarkable agility and teamwork while trying to distract the creature, drawing its attention away from the rest of the team.
When the team saw what the two were doing, they couldn’t help but laugh and commend them. It was very helpful.
Meanwhile, Rey and the others worked together. They encircled it, aiming to exploit any vulnerabilities in its defenses.
But the plant-like entity proved to be a strong one, its movements unpredictable and its attacks relentless. It seemed strong amidst their efforts, almost as if it anticipated their tactics.
As the struggle ensued, Fredrick’s voice cut through the chaos, "We need to find its weakness! Look for any patterns or changes in its behavior!"
As Fredrick’s voice resonated through the chaotic scene, the team redoubled their efforts, scanning the pant for any discernible patterns or weaknesses. They observed its movements, seeking the slightest shift in behavior or reaction that might reveal a vulnerability.
They were already desperate at this point.
Terrence and Natalie, though momentarily separated from the main group, worked in sync, devising a plan of their own. They surveyed the creature from their vantage point, studying its responses to different things they were throwing, hoping to identify a potential weakness.
Rey and the others coordinated their attacks, aiming to keep the plant distracted and off-balance. They moved in a synchronized pattern, striking when opportunities arose, attempting to shoot the plant against its strong defense.
However, their guns were already running out of bullets, and yet the backup still hadn’t arrived.
They do not know if they can still last long.
The creature’s resilience was remarkable. Even though its petals were already filled with holes, it remained strong. Its thick body was still swaying and its root continued to attack them.
"There! Its roots retract when it’s in pain!" Natalie’s eyes widened as she exclaimed. Her voice was barely audible over the chaos.
She noticed how the plant would slow down and stop for a second when bullets hit its roots.
Terrence nodded, recognizing the significance of Natalie’s discovery. "We need to target its roots!" he shouted out loud which everyone heard.
With their observation in mind, Fredrick swiftly relayed the strategy to the team. "Focus on its roots! That’s where its weakness lies!"
As the creature swayed its roots attempting to attack them, the team altered their tactics. They redirected their focus, aiming their guns specifically at the tangle of roots extending from the entity’s base.
Rey and the others coordinated their efforts, using their gun to strike at the roots whenever the creature’s defenses faltered. With each successful hit, the roots retracted, a telltale sign that they were causing significant discomfort to the creature.
The plant which was once relentless in its attack, now showed signs of vulnerability. Its attacks became less coordinated, its movements sluggish as it attempted to protect its weakened roots.
Seeing an opportunity, Fredrick signaled for a continuous attack. "Now! Hit its roots!"
The team unleashed a coordinated assault, targeting the roots with precision. Bullets, Rocks, and branches, rained down on the vulnerable roots , causing the creature to emit anguished wails as its roots loosened and get damaged by the attacks.
With each strike, the creature’s movements grew more feeble, its once formidably extended roots retracting in pain.
The plant’s defenses weakened significantly, and a sense of triumph surged through the team as they realized they were finally making progress with their attacks.
Sensing the tide turning in their favor, the team attacked more, intensifying their assault on the vulnerable roots.
When their bullets ran out, they helped Terrence and Natalie, by getting the objects on the ground that were once thrown and then throwing them back to the plant.
"Aghhhhhhhhhhkkkzzz!" The plant made a sound as half of its roots became damaged.
Its movements were now very slow and the roots that were once attacking them had already fallen to the ground.
"Secure the area!"
Numerous people wearing blue uniforms entered the perimeter. They were marching and were in sync creating a drum-like sound as they ran.
The arrival of the police officers brought a sense of relief to them. Finally, they can now breathe freely and calmer.
The thunderous sound of gunfire echoed as the police officers continued to openly fire the plant. Even though the were scared, they had to be brave as it was their duty. Bullets after bullets pierced the air, striking the plant-like form, causing it to writhe and convulse in agony.
With each shot, the plant’s form shuddered, emitting eerie and loud sounds that echoed through the forest.
